We've talked about Malmö Taproom many times but did you know they have a second bar (some would say hidden) bar? Just behind Malmö Taproom is Malmo Mead and Cocktail Bar. It's a small room with lots of meads, cocktails and craft beer. We tried the cleverly titled Ask Staff IPA. This is a solid IPA that wasn't on the Taproom menu. We followed that up with a couple of meads, Tropical Blueberry and Exclusive Peach. These are part of the new trend of meads of being bright, fruity and not honey syrup. Tropical Blueberry is a meger 7% ABV while Exclusive Peach comes in at 12%. It's a fun place to...

If you're a bar and you're only going to serve one beer, it better be a good one. In Malmö, we have a series of Czech inspired bars that only serve the same beer. Now, we have a kolsch style bar. Based on the German concept, Gaststatte kolsch has one beer, Muhlen kolsch. It's only served one size, 20cl. They will keep bringing you glasses as long as you don't tell them to. It's a great experience and highly recommended if you're in town. #beer #craftbeer #drinks #kolsch #germanbeer

Summe is over and the fall is fast approaching. To celebrate Martin dusted off some forgotten beers from his cellar to remind us that somethings don't need to be saved forever. Traquair 900 (2007) is an English barleywine. Barleywines are great to age...for a little while. After awhile it comes oddly minty. Not sure why it does but it's an instant clue your barleywine has past it's prime. Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout used to a sought after stout, back in 2006. Nine years later, it's not as trendy or hyped and shouldn't be aged this long. Cardboard and lifeless, if you're holding on to...

As the summer starts to wind down, we still want to take a moment to apprecaite the sun and fun. What better way then with two light, refreshing sour beers. Drottningholms Sur blends blueberries, black currants and honey for a heavy hitting 7% AVB sour. Flying Guru Hrym is a farmhouse ale aged for 14 months and 8 months on riesling grapes before being dry-hopped with Nelson Sauvin. Also at 7% ABV, it's summertime in a glass. #beer #craftbeer #drinks #sourbeer #farmhouseale

We got to try a double shot of Drowned Lands. It's a new brewery from the US for us. Fern is a 6.5% ABV NEIPA. Made with lots of wheat and oats and hopped with strata and citra, it's a juicy little number. With a name like Fern you would think it would be more earthy. Black Gold Coffee is a straight down the middle bourbon barrel aged imperial stout with coffee. With a 10.5% ABV, it's a solid stout with not a lot of bells and whistles. #beer #craftbeer #drinks #neipa #imperialstout

After featuring Funky Fluid/Nerdbrewing collab last week, we thought it woudl be fun to return to Poland and try some more beers. Funky Fluid Gelato is their marquee beer. They crank out a lot of them. Stefan picked up Plum and Cherry Jam Gingerbread. Swedes love these flavors so it's only natural that we should have this beer on the show. At 5.5% AVB you can expect lots of flavor and excitement from the Gelato series (individual experiences may vary). Browar Kingpin is a new brewery for us. Burlesca says it's a farmhouse ale or saison. We didn't find it to be either of those things. This...

Hannes over at Nerdbrewing has been quite for a while. After leaving Molecule he's taken some time to figure out his next step. Now he's back with two killer collabs. First is a collab with Smedsbo Slott called Karamellstout. This is a 12% ABV imperial stout that uses Palo Santo (listen to find out what that is) and vanilla. It's an interesting blend that really works well together. Up next is a collab with Polish brewers extrodinare, Funky Fluid. BA Royal Cookie S'more smells like chocolate chip cookies and tastes great. Lots of chocolate, barrel-aging and the level of...

We had some fun this episode. We got two beers to put us right in the mood to drink beer. (Honestly, all beers put us right in the mood to drink beer.) Norwegian brewery Salikatt Camel Up is an 8% AVB hazy DIPA. Made with citra dynaboost, citra cryo and galaxy hops, it packs a fruity, delicious punch. Moersleutel Barcode: Nitro Blue is part of the excellent barcode series. This is a collaboration with O'Hara's Brewery. Be sure to shake it first to get the nitrogen activated. Once you do, turn it up and let it rip. The reward is a smooth, chocolate, barrel-aged treat. #beer #craftbeer #drinks...

Summer sours are the best kind of sours. Martin reached into his cellar and brought out a couple of treats for us to try. Originally released in 2019, Speciation Extropian is a wild ale with peaches, cinnamon and vanilla. It was part of the Mikkeller Beer Club, back when that was a thing. We follow it with Side Project Blueberry Flanders (Blend #2). This is a Flanders style red ale aged in Missouri oad red wine barrels with Missouri blueberries. Sadly, not a single Missourian was present for the tasting. #beer #craftbeer #drinks #sourale #wildale

Stefan went on a bit of a summer trip and brought back some beers. He visited Poland. The craft beer scene in Poland is strong and very alive. He was able to visit tons of craft beer bars and didn't try the same beer twice. Browar Artezan has released a traditional Polish beers style called a grodziskie. It's a light abv beer with hints of smoke. Fafik comes in at 3.5% and brings in a little hops with nectaron and chinook. This is followed up with Ziemia Obiecana's Grand Kru. It's a sour beer made with white grapes and nelson sauvin hops. These were a lot of fun to try and great for the...
info_outlineIt's time to play Martin's favorite game. Let's discover a new brewery. It's not so much a game as an obesssion. This time he found a brewery from Ontario, Canada. Badlands Brewing has some releases at Systembolaget so we jumped at the chance to try them. Secret Wave is an annual release of a Hazy IPA. Made with galazy, nectaron and simcoe, it's got tons of tropical and citrus notes. Badlands does a monthly DIPA release. They start with a base recipe and then go crazy with the hops. March DIPA uses peacharine, HBC 1019 and sabro hops. It's a peachy treat!
