Wolf & Iron | Feed the Wolf. Be the Iron.

We've got a new dog in the house, Maple. She's about 10 months old and a mix between an Australian Shepherd and a Husky the best we can tell. Auskys I think they're called. Having raised dogs and boys at the same, time, training this new pup is bringing back some memories and also some lessons I wish I had known years ago.

Work out. Every day. // TRUCK TALK THURSDAY show art Work out. Every day. // TRUCK TALK THURSDAY

Wolf & Iron | Feed the Wolf. Be the Iron.

There are relatively few changes I've made in my life that have made a drastic improvement in my quality of life. Most of the time it has been small, incremental changes that add up over time. But, this one change has truly changed my life. Working out everyday. Do it. This is my experience from my first 3 months.

Wolf & Iron | Feed the Wolf. Be the Iron.

As dads, we often spend too much time correcting our kids, managing them, and trying to keep schedules on track. In retrospect, much of our parenting can come from a negative point of view rather than one of encouragement.  In this episode, I share a personal story from my youth, one that has stayed with me all my life and taught me an important lesson about myself and how I parent.

Wolf & Iron | Feed the Wolf. Be the Iron.

Many of us are loving the return to physical media and analog wherever we can get it. Yes, give me buttons to push, records and film, sliders, springs, and levers! What's it all about? In this episode I share some insights as a film photographer and how that might apply to the larger analog resurgence we're seeing.

Finding Community as a Christian // TRUCK TALK THURSDAY show art Finding Community as a Christian // TRUCK TALK THURSDAY

Wolf & Iron | Feed the Wolf. Be the Iron.

If you're a Christian and also happen to be thoughtful, pragmatic, have morals, and question the status quo, you may have found yourself hard-pressed to find a community of likeminded individuals.  It's certainly been a challenge for my wife and I -- and even harder after the kids have grown. This episode is more of a "you're not the only one" rather than a "here is how you solve it". Yes, we have Guilds, which are great for men, but as a husband and wife or for a man who wants community outside of a particular group, these are challenging times.

A Generation that Can't Speak // TRUCK TALK THURSDAY show art A Generation that Can't Speak // TRUCK TALK THURSDAY

Wolf & Iron | Feed the Wolf. Be the Iron.

It's getting weird out there. I've seen it, you've seen it. We've all experienced the decline in customer service over the last several years. The question is, what are we, as men, going to do about it? In this episode I provide a recent and relatable example, as well as some ideas on how we can help the upcoming generation be able to speak to other humans once again.

Aliens & Christians // TRUCK TALK THURSDAY show art Aliens & Christians // TRUCK TALK THURSDAY

Wolf & Iron | Feed the Wolf. Be the Iron.

There has been a lot of talk about aliens lately. Unfortunately, more talk than actual aliens, but it's still a fun topic of discussion, particularly among Christians. Most, if not all, of us have wondered how they would fit within the context of our Christian worldview if they did indeed exist. In this episode I share some different perspectives on this that I've heard over the years.

The Real Israelites? // TRUCK TALK THURSDAY show art The Real Israelites? // TRUCK TALK THURSDAY

Wolf & Iron | Feed the Wolf. Be the Iron.

Every Christian and Jew has heard the stories of the early Israelites. Led out of Egypt in a most awesome manner, then complained, worshiped other gods, and complained some more. It's safe to say that our view of the Israelites is not favorable, though many lessons have certainly been learned from them. But, what if that isn't the whole story? In this episode I talk about a recent revelation I had on who the Israelites really were. No, not aliens, but practically who these former slaves were if you were to meet them back then. I think we might get a much different impression than the one we...

Is Hell What We Think it Is? // TRUCK TALK THURSDAY show art Is Hell What We Think it Is? // TRUCK TALK THURSDAY

Wolf & Iron | Feed the Wolf. Be the Iron.

Hell. It's a pretty big topic among Christians and you might think that there is a solid and universally agreed upon idea of what it actually is. At least, with all of the talk about Heaven and Hell, you would think this would have been one of the major issues for us to have nailed down at this point. Most likely, your own view of hell has changed over the years. You had a childhood version of it and then perhaps several different adult versions as well. Does anyone really know what it is? How far off are some of our concepts? In this episode, I have more questions than answers, but at least...

Wolf & Iron | Feed the Wolf. Be the Iron.

Many men that didn't serve in the military have a sense of regret or shame. They wonder, do I have what it takes to have been a good soldier, airman, or seaman? Impressed by Hollywood visions of the military, they go through life feeling like they missed out on something incredibly manly. Maybe you did, but maybe not. Here's my take on it and some thoughts on how you can still challenges yourself as a civilian.

America needs a reinvigoration of its masculine spirit, grounded in Christ. In order to do this, we need brotherhoods. No more of the lone wolf mentality that has had a grip on us for the last few decades. It's time for men to lead again. Guilds is one of the ways we get there.
