Wendy Cole sensed something as early as age 3. By the time she was 5 or 6, she knew she had been assigned the wrong gender at birth. One day when she was 10, she put on her mother’s clothes, did her nails and makeup, and announced that she was a girl. For most of the rest of her life, others tried to deny her truth. Then, at age she transitioned. In this episode of the Awaken Your Wise Woman podcast, host Elizabeth Cush, LCPC, a licensed professional therapist, founder of Progression Counseling in Annapolis, Md., and a mid-life women’s life coach, welcomes Wendy, a transition mentor, for an open and honest conversation about gender identity and expression, self-discovery and acceptance, the importance of empathy and the need for safe spaces.
