3 Women of the Old Testament caught my attention in a new way for the first time as being ordinary women, who on a moments notice found themselves called into action by God in the midst of daily life.
Zipporah (Exodus 4)
Abigail (1 Samuel 25)
Jael (Judges 4)
What can we learn from these women? They were strong, wise, women of God, and were able to act decisively on a moments notice, no hesitation. They did what mattered to God because somewhere along the line they were in the habit of stepping into his presence, and finding contentment and joy in doing what mattered to God each & every day---and when the opportunity arose, they knew the heart of God and were able to stand up to His call and fulfill His purpose for their lives.
Today as women we sometimes stumble because we rush to pursue a more magnificent, profound purpose.
Perhaps we are too worn out to see that today’s pressing roles are already filled with a purpose that brings glory to our creator.
We don’t even realize that our day in/day out efforts are extremely precious to the heart of God.
Instead of asking “What remarkable task do I want to tackle for God today?” a better question would be “What does God want me to BE and DO in my routine, ordinary world today?”
