Woven
This month, we wrap-up our summer series on play by sharing what we've each learned about the spiritual discipline of playfulness over the last couple of months. We also share the 2nd half of our interview with Courtney Ellis. If you didn't listen to our July episode, go back and listen, Courtney is a fount of wisdom when it comes to the art of playfulness and its importance to the Christian life. Also, in our introduction to Courtney's interview, we share some big news about the future of Woven!

In July and August on Woven, we are talking all things "play". For our July episode, we discuss our own barriers to play and the areas where we'd like to become more playful. We also challenge each other to do something playful over the next month. To enhance our discussion, we also talk to Courtney Ellis, the author of Happy Now: Let Playfulness Lift Your Load and Renew Your Spirit.

Woven is taking a short break in June, but we still want to share a little something with our listeners. Since we're talking about fun and playfulness in our July and August episodes, we asked Christie Cuthbert, author and friend of Woven, to read an excerpt from her book Mom I Farted in Church for our June episode. Christie is an expert in finding the humor and fun in parenting. We hope you enjoy this reading, and check out Christie and all her work.

It's finally May! With a new season and the end of a school year approaching, lots of transitions are on the horizon. This month we talk life transitions- how we handle them differently, how we can prepare for them better and how we can keep growing even in times of transition. We also talk summer and share some ideas on surviving and maybe even thriving in this new season.
info_outline BONUS EPISODE: Mother's DayWoven
Bonus Episode! Our May episode comes out on Tuesday, but in honor of Mother's Day, we thought we'd drop a bonus discussion on mothering- different types of mothering, our strengths and weaknesses as mothers, the Proverbs 31 woman (spoiler alert: it's not what you think), and how Mother's Day isn't always the easiest day for a lot of people. Enjoy!
info_outline Slow GrowingWoven
For our April episode, we process what it means to grow slowly in different aspects of our lives. We talk about the areas where we struggle to grow low and slow versus fast and flashy. We also interview Jennifer Dukes Lee about her new book Growing Slow: Lessons on Un-Hurrying Your Heart from an Accidental Farm Girl. In our third segment, we talk about gardening, slow cooking, and books that are helping us to lean into the spring "growing" season and Eastertide.

As we inch into spring, towards Easter, and slowly out of the COVID crisis, we talk about what we've learned in the past year and what it looks like to add things back into our lives after much has been stripped away. What does it mean to begin again? We also interview home designer, Shannon Acheson, about her new book Home Made Lovely. In our last segment we talk charcuterie, Tim Keller's new book on Easter, and more.

Our February episode is here, and so is Lent! That means it's time to do some Spring Cleaning, and we're not talking about the dusting the baseboards and cleaning out the pantry type of Spring Cleaning. This month, we discuss how to Spring Clean internally. What does it mean to unclutter our spirts, souls, hearts, minds, etc?

Happy New Year! Join us as we discuss what we learned in 2020, how we will bring those lessons into 2021, and the changes that are coming to Woven in the new year.
info_outlineThis week we begin a new series called "Pandemic Parenting". Living during a global pandemic has definitely presented parents with new challenges. The one on the forefront of most parents' minds right now is the looming 2020-2021 school year. No matter what you choose for your children and their schooling this year, or if you've not been given a choice; we've all been thrown for a loop. No matter where you live, this new school year will look very different from years past. How do we as parent prepare ourselves and our kids for all the changes to come? What are the right decisions to make for our kids? How do we finish summer strong while we have so much anxiety for the fall?
To help us answer all these questions and more, we've invited Michelle Nietert to join us. As a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, Michelle has been providing therapeutic interventions to children and their families in counseling offices for over 20 years. As a previous educator, public school crisis counselor, and youth and children’s minister, she interacts regularly with parents and students at public school assemblies, PTA meetings, local churches, and is the mental health consultant for a local private Christian school. Michelle also provides trainings for school counselors, teachers and homeschool parents. A recognized expert in Solution Focused Therapy, she is the clinical director and owner of a large counseling center in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Michelle’s writing can be found on the MOPS blog, in Lifeway’s Parenting Magazine and she is the Mental Health columnist for Just Between Us Magazine.
