SDF is one of development and humanitarian organizations in the Gaza strip, providing protection, education, livelihoods and emergency programming. In Gaza Strip, SDF has a long history of pioneering approaches the area of sustainable livelihoods for families, such as community-based lending approaches, supporting access for harder to reach populations, such as youth and rural populations. SDF has a long history of partnering with families and communities in Gaza Strip, and has learned a great deal about working with children, youth, women, extended families, and communities. An important lesson learned is that it is important to approach working with these communities, especially youth, and women as building on their assets and strengths, rather than vulnerabilities. This approach is particularly successful with younger generations as they learn more about their rights as well and responsibilities as active members of civil society. SDF has been working in Gaza since 2006, targeting vulnerable youth, women and their families, SDF have strong partnership with over 10 local organizations as well as directly implements projects across all of Gaza. SDF is a well established and trusted organization by communities in Gaza. SDF follows standard organizational practice with regard to internal controls and financial compliance issues. Transparent and competitive pricing and bidding procedures are conducted for all major procurement. Audits are conducted as necessary or as required by individual donors.
