The Faeries of Birchover Wood - Book 1 - The Bad

In a time when a King ruled England, and his knights rode into battle for glory and honour, a monster, the Bad, roamed the land, waiting for a chance to take power. The Bad had no real shape, but it had a purpose, and that was to feed on anything, then defeat the King and his army. The King asked the myths, legends, and folklore of England for help and all answered his cry. Led by an elder of the Faery folk, Elder Perennial Swallowtail, the mythical creatures joined the King's army to create a massive army of mythical creatures and man. After fighting courageously, the King, his army, and the myths, legends, and folklore defeat the Bad, but not completely kill it. Just a little bit survived. It's imprisoned inside the wood of Birchover, and there, it awaits for a time to escape and take revenge. And this time, it has some help. In our time, our modern technology cannot defeat the monster, the myths, legends, and folklore, are once again called upon to fight, but this time they have the life of a boy to protect. Destroy the Bad, and they destroy the boy. The Faeries of Birchover Wood is the first book of a four part series. The first book had been in the author's head for over twenty years, and it wasn't until his wife was pregnant that he was inspired to write the story for his son.

TFoBWTB 15 The Bad, Dave and Sarah, and all the mythical creatures are at the Nine Ladies Stone Circle ready for the final conflict. The battle starts with Autumn Brown Leaf creating a tornado that surrounds Solomon. The Bad destroys its trap and walks to the centre of the circle. It is time to save Solomon. TFoBWTB 14 The Bad finally reaches the village of Birchover. There waiting are the five dragons and other mythical creatures. Immediately, the battle starts. Dragons pour hot fireballs onto the Bad, and it sends ice spears and energy bolts at the dragons. Then Autumn Brown Leaf appears carrying Solomon's parents. TFoBWTB 13 Solomon continues his journey through Birchover Wood. All mythical creatures and woodland animals have scattered to lay traps for the Bad. Caitlin, Zeal and Balamore on the orders of Elder Swallowtail fly off to fight the Bad. The dragons fly in the sky tracking the monster. TFoBWTB 12 Cowl Monkshood has abducted Solomon. The faery pushes the young boy through a series of tunnels, which leads them to a huge chamber. Solomon meets the monster that Cowl Monkshood faithfully worships. The Bad. It takes over Solomon and gives Cowl Monkshood a surprise. Back in the wood the woodland creatures have all gathered around the tree, waiting for the monster to escape. It's not too long before the bad shows itself, and everything can see that Solomon has been completely taken over. Immediately the battle to try and save Solomon begins. - Authors Note: Terribly sorry for the long wait. I had been suffering from pneumonia, which just took everything out of me. TFoBWTB 11 Taking Sarah into the wood, Dave and Solomon want to show her the glowing tree. Once they get there, they are met by Cowl Monkshood, a faery they have not met before. The little creature carefully seperates Solomon from his parents and starts to push him closer to the tree. The small stone in Solomon's pocket starts to glow, and Caitlin, Zeal and Balamore fly to see why Solomon is in danger. TFoBWTB 10 The evil creature that is helping the bad to escape, has chosen the human that will allow the bad to be free from its prison. Winnie has passed the word onto a small number of villagers that know about the secret, that the tree is in a terrible condition, and time is running out. As a sign that things are changing, reports in newspapers that gnomes, goblins, and dragons have been spotted, and as Winnie walks home, she is met by a group of Brownies, on the way to a very special place in the wood. Winnie being adventurous and inquisitive, ventures into the wood, and she sees something that she has never seen before. Nymphs and walking Oakmen. TFoBWTB 09 The next day after the storm, Dave takes Solomon to the wood. They come across the old tree, which is now throbbing and covered in a veil of pure white magic. Winnie also turns up, and explains to the two of them about faeries. She then takes them to a place, and after calling out, they are all met by some badgers. On the backs of these animals are faeries. Dave can't believe his eyes. Later on Dave, Solomon and Winnie make their way home, but they are watched by something. TFoBWTB 07 On a glorious sunny day, Solomon decides to venture out into the wood at the back of his house. All was going well until he ventures to far away from his house and loses his direction. Lost and confused, he starts to make a crying sound only to see something fly towards him. "A Faery!" Solomon exclaims. Caitlin helps Solomon get home and feels that she will see him again. TFoBWTB 06 Dave,Sarah and Solomon have moved into their new home, and it isn't long before Solomon finds something that belongs to a faery. Sup Sup Rose after dscovering a crack on the tree that holds the bad, races back to find Elder Perennial Swallowtail. TFoBWTB 05 After selling their house in Manchester, a family move into a house in Birchover village. The back of the garden leads straight into Birchover wood. Dave, Sarah, and Solomon have no idea how their lives will be turned upside down by moving to their new house. At the same time, the faery Sup Sup Rose organises groups of faeries to help with new arrivals. After completing the task, he notices something at the base of the oak tree that has the Bad imprisoned. TFoBWTB 01 A creature of unatural form is travelling the land of England. Devouring any creature it comes across so that it may grow, until it is strong enough to meet the one it wants to fight - The King and his army! It starts off with farm animals, but then, with confidence on its side, it starts to attack and destroy villages. From one of the destroyed villages, a small boy survives. Wandering alone through the countryside, he is picked up by a group of the Kings guards. With an unbelievable story, the kings guards, with the boy gallop back to tell the King of the beast.
