14: Propaganda We're Not Falling For
In this week's episode, we are spilling it all - the propaganda we're not falling for. We're not generally ones to jump on the latest social media trends, but we felt like this was a fitting one for the podcast. So, we are sharing some fun, light-hearted ones and some more deep and intense propaganda we're not falling for. Get ready to laugh, possibly be shocked and maybe challenged in some way. While some of what we say is irrelevant to our faith, we want to preface that what we talk about in the podcast is solely our conviction. Our prayer is that we always point people to Jesus, regardless of what each person's conviction may be. If you haven't already, would you take a moment to rate and review our podcast? 13: You Don't Have To Just 'Survive' Motherhood
Hey friends, Welcome to episode 13 of the Hey Sis podcast. Jess has just released a new book called Nutrition For Postpartum Playbook: Your ultimate guide to nourishing your postpartum with ease and confidence. In light of her book release, we will be diving into the topic of not just surviving motherhood. Our modern day motherhood lingo is that 'I am just surviving' or 'I am so overwhelmed'. While we may feel this way, this doesn't have to be our normal, especially as Christian mothers. We explore how we can thrive as mothers and not just survive, because we have access to the Holy Spirit at work within us. We chat about: Spiritual ways we can thrive as mothers Practical ways we can thrive as mothers The lessons we are learning about how thrive and not just survive as mothers. If you want to learn more about nutrition for mamas and babies head to Jess's business, The Wholesome Mama Nutrition, at In episode 12, we are chatting with our beautiful Mum, Vanessa, about how to raise kids to love God in a godless world. Our mum and dad have been married for 32 years and have been parents that many other families have admired and seen as role models over the years. In our western culture, children are more exposed than ever to other world views and philosophies like 'your own truth' as opposed to 'The Truth'. Our Mum talks to us about: Her inspiring journey to faith What she and my Dad did to raise us to know and love God Encouragement for parents who have children who have walked away from the faith Practical tips on how to cultivate a home where Christ is the centre A study that she learned about on why children grow to walk away from the faith compared to children who grow to continue their love for and faith in God. We pray that this episode encourages parents of littles, parents of older kids, and not-yet parents, who want some wisdom in how to raise kids to love God. We offer a biblical perspective about: Why the 'trad wife' movement is becoming less about traditional homemaking and more about an illusion of what the ideal wife and homemaker should look like online. Why oversharing about marriage online is dishonouring your spouse and giving undeserving people a peek into something that should be kept private or known to trusted people. Why we as Christians should be cautious and wise about the type of content we consume to avoid coveting and stirring up jealousy or pride. How we can be prayerful and discerning about the way God has called us to live, despite how other marriages may be portrayed online. 3: The Biblical Case Against MLM Companies
Disclaimer: Jess's audio is not the best quality in this episode, sorry in advance. Today is a heated topic. We are chatting all about the taboo industry of multi-level marketing (or network marketing as some may call it). 2.5 years ago, we both quit being a part of the network marketing business that we both were a part of for over two years. Since then, we have reflected on our time being a part of an MLM company and decided to share our journey with you all. What we cover in this episode: Our experience being a part of an MLM company. Some reasons why MLM companies do not reflect biblical principles. Some loving warnings to Christians who are a part of an MLM company or who are considering joining one and to consider asking the hard question: does this company that I am a part of align with my beliefs as a Christian? Yep, we're going there! But our heart is not to cast judgement, but to lovingly remind our fellow believing sisters the importance of Holy Spirit led discernment and how to ask God to give us wisdom in a world that seeks worldly pleasures.
