By triggering the relaxation response, calming the mind, expanding self-awareness, and improving emotional regulation, meditation is a powerful tool that can assist us in releasing stress and anxiety. When we experience stress or anxiety, our bodies go into "fight or flight" mode, releasing stress hormones. By developing a greater sense of awareness and mindfulness, we can become less reactive to our emotions and more able to respond to them in a healthy way. It activates the relaxation response, which is the opposite of the stress response and helps to reduce the levels of stress hormones in the body. To practise this meditation choose a quiet place, plug in your earphones (preferably) and let the soothing voice sink in.
