Woke or Whateva is a black women led podcast based out of Montreal. The show is a space where Titi and Beck deconstruct the concepts of race and gender to make the information accessible to Black communities primarily. The duo’s ability to vulgarise complex concepts while simultaneously adding an element of fun to their delivery has allowed for a deep connection and a very successful outcome with their audience.

Genocide in Palestine: the war on misinformation In this episode we’re tackling the genocide happening right now in Palestine. Since October 7th, the day of the Hamas “terrorist attack” on Israel, western media has been trying to push a specific narrative about what’s happening in Gaza, by repeating to the Grand Public that Israel has the right to defend itself under international law. But what does that mean? Who exactly does Israel have the right to defend itself against when more than 40% of people living in Gaza are under 18? What is there to defend when Palestinians do not have an army and Israel possesses one of the strongest armies in the world? With the help of our guest Samah, a Palestinian writer living in Montreal, we explore the history of Palestine and Israel’s occupation of their land. We also address US imperialism and the connection that we must make between the Palestinian people’s struggle and other genocides like the one currently happening in Congo. Travailleurs invisibles: Pour l'amour d'une communauté / Invisible workers: For the Love of a Community (Svens et Boby) La réalité des quartiers majoritairement noires de Montréal est souvent racontée du point de vue des médias populaires. Ce point de vue est majoritairement péjoratif et désavantageux pour nos communautés. On dit que ses communautés sont violentes et qu’elles manque de présence policières. Cet opinion influence la majorité de la population qui finie par la partager sans se questionner.Mais qu’est-ce que les membres des communautés qui habitent ses quartiers ont à dire sur leur propre réalité?Dans cet épisode nous accueillons Boby et Svens qui sont non seulement membres de leurs communautés mais qui travaillent dans le but de la rendre meilleure. Ses travailleurs invisibles sont rarement mis de l’avant, voilà pourquoi il était important pour nous de le faire. Pendant plus de deux heures ils parleront de leur travail, leur vécu, et des obstacles qu’ils ont surmontés au fil des années Un épisode émotif mais plus que pertinent du point de vue de membre de la communautéThe reality of Montreal’s predominantly black neighbourhoods is often told from the point of view of mainstream media. This view is mostly pejorative and detrimental to our communities. They say that our communities are violent and that they lack police presence. This opinion influences the majority of the population who end up sharing it without question. But what do the members of the communities that live in these neighbourhoods have to say about their own reality? In this episode we welcome Boby and Svens who are not only members of the communities in question but who also work to make it better. They are invisible workers, who rarely get the spotlight, which is why it was important for us to do so. Fo more than two hours, they will talk about their work, their experiences, and the obstacles they have overcome over the years.
