I went through the numbers, and I found six statistical anomalies from the 2025 and 2026 college football seasons that I think deserve a much bigger conversation. We're talking about BYU's historic ranking at 11-1, two undefeated Power Four teams meeting while neither is ranked, the SEC making up 40% of the AP Top 25, Florida making one of the biggest jumps in years, the lack of G6 teams in the rankings, and the SEC's unusual net movement following ranked matchups. Does this prove there's some secret conspiracy among AP voters? No — and that's not what I'm arguing. My argument is that the enormous amount of national attention surrounding the SEC could influence the way teams and conferences are perceived by voters and college football fans.
