Cawfee Tawk: Finalmente (FINALLY - good or bad?)

Cawfee Tawk: Finalmente (FINALLY - good or bad?)
In this solo episode of Cawfee Tawk, I break down the very Italian-American phrase “finalmente.” Technically it means “finally”… but culturally? It means, “About time. What took you so long?” Finally got engaged. Finally had a baby. Finally bought a house. Somehow a win turns into a subtle roast. I talk about how living in a constant “finalmente” mindset keeps us chasing the next thing instead of celebrating how far we’ve come. Why does every accomplishment immediately get followed by, “Okay… so what’s next?” And why do so many of us feel like if we say something good out loud, we’ll jinx it and it won’t happen? I also open up about going to therapy—not because something is “wrong,” but because having an unbiased space to talk feels safe and necessary. Plus, I get into the New York accent discourse—why people think we sound uneducated when so many of us are anything but—and how growing up in New York is the reason I talk fast, drop half my consonants, and never finish a word. It’s funny, a little vulnerable, and maybe the permission you need to enjoy your wins without a “finally” attached to them. 🙋🏻♀️ 🇮🇹Check out Tara's Live Show! 👉 📲 Follow Tara on Social Media! Cawfee Tawk: From Legends to Letdowns (and Back Again) with Greg Baldwin

Cawfee Tawk: From Legends to Letdowns (and Back Again) with Greg Baldwin
This week on Cawfee Tawk, I’m sittin’ down with my friend and hilarious comedian Greg Baldwin for a real one. We’re tawkin’ about everything from how to train yourself into a legit New York accent (it’s not just yelling “I’m walkin’ here!”) to the highs and hangovers of chasing greatness in comedy. Greg opens up about his journey — how addiction started at a young age, how he found himself deep in it, and how he’s now 19 years sober. What began as an act of kindness — buying groceries for a struggling comic and helping him get sober — unexpectedly led Greg to his first comedy show… and ultimately to producing the Legends comedy show. What started as an impressions night turned into a room filled with comedy royalty, including alums from Saturday Night Live. He shares what it’s really like having access to the green room — the stories, the pressure, the magic behind the curtain. I share my own rollercoaster — landing the New York Yankees job and going from the stage to the big screen in centerfield, thinking 2020 was finally gonna be my year… and then watching touring, momentum, and even my wedding plans disappear overnight. We get honest about the business: the constant chase for the “next big thing,” how comparison robs you of your own glory, and how we both overthink so much we forget to actually enjoy the wins. We talk failure, ego, anxiety, meditation (which I can’t do), and how even in the middle of big moments, the smallest things can take you down. At the end of the day, it’s about finding that happy medium — being okay with the highs, the lows, and living a life of service. It’s funny. It’s vulnerable. It’s a little chaotic. Basically, it’s cawfee with two overthinkers trying to figure it out. 🙋🏻♀️ 🇮🇹Check out Tara's Live Show! 👉 📲 Follow Tara on Social Media! AGITA | Cawfee Tawk with Tara Cannistraci
In this solo episode of Cawfee Tawk, I define the very Italian-American condition known as agita—that constant low-grade stomach churn you get when other people’s words, actions, and choices affect you way more than you want them to. I talk about how much time I spend fixating on things I can’t control, and how that mental spiral eats up entire days of my life. We get into why my divorce video went viral (spoiler: it wasn’t an accident), and why so many of us are walking around with the same quiet frustration, grief, and resentment—just in different packaging. I break down the hard truth that we can’t control other people, we can’t control circumstances, and we can’t avoid everything that causes us agita. Even the highs in life don’t always balance out the lows—and pretending they should only adds more pressure. I also talk about real friendship: the kind that doesn’t require maintenance, scripts, or fake “hellos.” The kind where you can call your best friend at any moment and say, “The best thing just happened” or “The worst thing just happened,” and they meet you exactly where you are—no warm-up required. If you’ve ever felt emotionally exhausted by other people, overwhelmed by things you can’t fix, or guilty for wanting less noise and more peace… this one’s for you. Let’s talk agita. 🙋🏻♀️ 🇮🇹Check out Tara's Live Show! 👉 📲 Follow Tara on Social Media! Instagram: TikTok: Twitter: Facebook: Welcome to Cawfee Tawk with Tara Cannistraci AKA TaraJokes! Vegana Italiana: Chef Tara Punzone

Vegana Italiana: Chef Tara Punzone
On this episode of Cawfee Tawk, I sit down with chef and restaurateur Tara Punzone, a woman whose destiny was written in the sauce. From her grandparents’ Italian grocery in Brooklyn—organically becoming a neighborhood hero shop—to opening the country’s first all Southern italian vegan restaurant and wine bar, Tara’s journey proves that passion really can be genetic. Warm, gracious, and a lifelong animal lover, Tara didn’t set out to preach veganism—she just wanted to bring Southern Italian food to Los Angeles without giving up her values. We talk about the very Italian habit of talking ourselves out of our dreams (especially when your dad lovingly warns, “Restaurants take over your life”), and the moment everything changed when Tara heard Howard Stern mention a vegan restaurant in NYC. What happened next is a masterclass in showing up: Tara walked in on a busy Saturday night, asked what credentials she needed, got invited back, stepped into the kitchen, and earned the job. It’s the lesson Chazz always reminds me of—show up. Or as I say: just get me in the room and I’ll prove myself. We also get personal—being New Yorkers in LA, Tara’s year in Rome where she couldn’t get hired because she was (drumroll)… a woman, and what it means to be the last generation preserving Italian culture. Tara opens up about being an “oh shhh” baby, coming into the world years after unimaginable family loss, and growing up in a house that fed everyone—especially kids that didn't come from two parent homes like she did. Her new book, Vegana Italiana, is a love letter to her family roots, filled with recipes, memories, and a mission: honor where you come from while staying true to who you are. This one’s about food, family, courage—and answering the call that’s been in your DNA all along. 🙋🏻♀️ 🇮🇹Check out Tara's Live Show! 👉 📲 Follow Tara on Social Media! Italian American Word of the Week: Spoostad

Italian American Word of the Week: Spoostad
In this solo episode of Cawfee Tawk, I introduce the Italian American word of the week: SPOOSTAD — from the Italian spostato, meaning moved, displaced, spaced out… or whatever is currently happening to me. I talk about walking into rooms and not knowing why I'm there (is it perimenopause?), why I say H-U-G-E as yuge and not huge (New York accents need boundaries), and I debut my very best Marisa Tomei “Imagine You’re A Deer” impression. We also get into my deep love of movies and music — how I can quote Italian American films and hip-hop songs verbatim. I make mention that I miss my Boroughbred interviews, and how that nostalgia inspired the name of my new Boroughbred Tour. Plus, I completely fumble the word transplants and accidentally call non-native New Yorkers implants… which honestly might be more accurate. It’s unfiltered, nostalgic, slightly unhinged, and very SPOOSTAD. Pour the cawfee and sit with me. 🙋🏻♀️ 🇮🇹Check out Tara's Live Show! 👉 📲 Follow Tara on Social Media! Adam Ferrara: Comedy & Chaos
Adam Ferrara joins Cawfee Tawk for a real, funny, and thoughtful conversation about the moments that shape a comic — onstage and off. We talk about Adam’s first time performing stand-up, growing up in a chaotic, but loving household, and learning comedy through a Walkman filled with stand-up albums, with Richard Pryor as his first and favorite. Adam shares the surreal moment Pryor told him he was “f—ing funny,” and how that was a "BOOM" moment in his life. Adam also reflects on telling his parents he wanted to be a stand-up, his father’s advice to go for it before regret sets in, and what it was like working opposite Edie Falco on Nurse Jackie. We dive into ADHD, relatability, and Adam’s writing process — especially the idea about letting go of what you think a bit is supposed to be so you allow it to become what it truly is, which turns out to be a great metaphor for life. Funny, honest, and grounded, this episode is about trusting your voice, embracing the mess, and giving yourself permission to become who you already are. 🙋🏻♀️ 🇮🇹Check out Tara's Live Show! 👉 📲 Follow Tara on Social Media! Mushad: Italian American Word of The Week
On this solo episode of Coffee Talk, I’m introducing the Italian American Word of the Week: Mushad. Mushad is how you say you’re feeling low, sad, or emotionally heavy… and it’s also what happens when your pasta is overcooked and turns to mush. Either way, nobody wants to stay there too long. I use Mushad as a way to open up about how difficult the holidays and December were for me, and how easy it is to slip into a mood you don’t recognize—or don’t want to admit you’re in. We talk honestly about depression, how many people quietly live with it, and how exhausting it can feel when nothing seems to help. This episode is about finding support, reaching for the right people and resources, and learning when to help—and when to accept that you can’t fix or save someone who isn’t ready to help themselves. You can care deeply without carrying everything. Real talk, a little humor, and a reminder that feeling Mushad is human—but it doesn’t have to be permanent. 🙋🏻♀️ 🇮🇹Check out Tara's Live Show! 👉 📲 Follow Tara on Social Media! How Did I Get Here?
01/19/2026
How Did I Get Here?
In this solo Cawfee Tawk, I finally answer the question people always ask me: How did I get here? Before comedy became my full-time life, I was living a full-time double life — school counselor by day, comedian by night. Two worlds that felt like they had to stay completely separate… until they didn’t. In this episode, I talk about why I never merged those two identities at first, how scary it was to defer a dream because it didn’t feel “realistic,” and how I eventually realized that every single thing we do every day can become part of our skill set — even the jobs we think are just “for now.” I share the moment I finally allowed myself to tell stories about the kids and my experiences in schools, how that honesty changed my comedy, and why the kids were actually part of my dream too. I also tell the very real (and very uncomfortable) story about a parent seeing one of my comedy videos where I wasn’t exactly school-appropriate… and then having to sit across from her and explain what her son did wrong at school. This episode is about timing, courage, and trusting that nothing in your life is wasted. Sometimes we don’t abandon the dream — we’re just building toward it in ways we don’t recognize yet. Pour the cawfee — this one’s real. 🙋🏻♀️ 🇮🇹Check out Tara's Live Show! 👉 📲 Follow Tara on Social Media! Shangad: Italian American Word of The Week
This week on Cawfee Tawk, I introduce the Italian-American word of the week: Shangad — disheveled, run down, and very much the vibe. I’m keeping it real about how hard this past holiday season was, the disappointment that comes with family, and why December can be heavy even when you’re preaching joy. I talk about owning what I couldn’t practice, the actions I need to take to never feel this way again, and why I’m also happily shangad after a last-minute run of shows opening for the legend Jo Koy. Exhausted, grateful, honest — and proud to keep our Italian-American culture alive one word at a time. 🙋🏻♀️ 🇮🇹Check out Tara's Live Show! 👉 📲 Follow Tara on Social Media! Cawfee Tawk – “Fatti Gli Affari Tuoi: Mind Ya Business”

Cawfee Tawk – “Fatti Gli Affari Tuoi: Mind Ya Business”
In this solo episode, I break down the Italian-American phrase “fatti gli affari tuoi” — mind your own business — which is basically the unofficial holiday motto whether we want it to be or not. With the season of opinions, questions, judgments, and unsolicited life advice rolling in like a stampede of Nonnas, I talk about why keeping your nose in your own gravy is sometimes the greatest gift you can give… to yourself. I share a story from last Thanksgiving, when I walked into a family member’s house only to be told I was “too old to have babies.” Cue the internal fireworks. Meanwhile, this person doesn’t even live a life I’d ever want for myself — yet there I was, spiraling. And it reminded me: why am I giving their opinion VIP access in my brain? I also get honest about the flip side — how I sometimes care too much about the people I love, especially when I see them making choices that look destructive from the outside. I talk about how hard it is to not jump in, fix, guide, advise, or rescue… and how learning to “mind my business” is an act of love too. For them and for me. It’s a holiday pep talk, an Italian-American reality check, and a reminder that peace comes from knowing what’s yours to hold… and what’s not. 🙋🏻♀️ 🇮🇹Check out Tara's Live Show! 👉 📲 Follow Tara on Social Media! Vinny Fasline: My Plus One
On this episode of Cawfee Tawk, Tara chats with Vinny Fasline — one of her first friends in LA, a natural crowd-pleaser, and a man who could turn any conversation back to food. We dove into the real stuff too: Vinny’s natural “it” factor, how his Italian mom lied about his age to sneak him into a comedy class at age 16 after his brain tumor, and how one of his earliest opening weekends was for Sebastian Maniscalco. We share our first-bombing stories (and why every comic needs them), talk about all the shows Vinny’s created — My Plus One, his new dating game comedy show, and his film/TV projects — and we get real about depression, anxiety, and trying every day to become the best version of ourselves. It’s heartfelt, hilarious, and full of carbs — just how Italians like it. Grab a cup and join us for some cawfee, and real tawk. 🙋🏻♀️ 🇮🇹Check out Tara's Live Show! 👉 📲 Follow Tara on Social Media! Royale Watkins: Just Keep Going
On this episode of Cawfee Tawk, Tara sits down with writer, comic, Marine, producer, and director Royale Watkins. We talk about how the comedy world isn’t just about the laughs you get on stage, but the time we spend together off stage, the back-in-the-day shows that shaped us, and being ready when opportunity knocks. Royale opens up about serving in Desert Storm, remembering moments where he thought he might die—and how being funny became a lifeline because laughter was truly all they had. He shares how a high-school teacher drove him to school his senior year after he moved out of town, how the class clown became the comic, and how his 4'8" mom—who we lovingly called the “fire hydrant/johnny pump”—used physical punishment as the only power she felt she had. We reminisce about our childhoods, the trauma we grew through, and the place you eventually get to where you can look at your parents and say, “They did the best they could with what they had.” Royale remembers being a “smart aleck,” how once the kids got bigger than his mom she started recording them to play it back when Dad got home, and how those moments shaped the man—and the father—he grew into. Today he’s spoiling his kids, evolving, healing, and passing on the lessons. Royale also dives into his iconic Mixtape Comedy Show, wisdom he’s picked up from greats like Chris Rock, and the mindset that’s carried him through every phase of his life: Just keep going. Grab a cup and join us for some cawfee, and real tawk. 🙋🏻♀️ 🇮🇹Check out Tara's Live Show! 👉 📲 Follow Tara on Social Media! Ashpet -Italian American Word of The Week

Ashpet -Italian American Word of The Week
In this week’s Cawfee Tawk, we dive into the Italian-American Word of the Week: ashpet—from aspettare, “to wait.” A word New York Italians famously do not live by. I talk about how patience has never been our community’s strong suit… and honestly, it hasn’t been mine either. I share a personal story about growing up with a brave single mom who put herself in therapy when I was six so she wouldn’t repeat the patterns she came from. Even as a first grader, I was a nervous kid with zero patience for myself—had to ace every test, be perfect, do everything “the best.” Spoiler: that hasn’t exactly disappeared in adulthood. I connect “aspett” to how I push myself today—whether it’s crafting this podcast or grinding in stand-up comedy—and how I’m finally learning to slow down and be kinder to myself. And I remind my listeners that the same goes for them: whatever journey they’re on—relationships, work, career, health, lifestyle—they deserve patience from themselves too. A little language, a little comedy, a little therapy… and a whole lotta cawfee. 🙋🏻♀️ 🇮🇹Check out Tara's Live Show! 👉 📲 Follow Tara on Social Media! Half Italian, Half Greek, All Heart: Arianna Papalexopoulos on Heritage & Hustle
In this episode of Cawfee Tawk, Tara Cannistraci sits down with the hilarious and wildly talented Arianna Papalexopoulos — actor, writer, creator, and proud half–Italian & half-Greek American. They dive into her beautifully blended upbringing, from growing up with two cultures to defending her long Greek last name (she had just learned how to spell it — no way was she giving that up!). Arianna shares stories of her summers in Greece, the family love story that literally started because her mom happened to have feta cheese in the fridge, and how she learned to say yes to herself in an industry that is rooted in rejection. She talks about carving her own opportunities, balancing talent with education, and her work ethic that she credits to her father. Tara & Arianna even compare the legendary Greek yiayia and the iconic Italian nonna, swapping sayings, and discovering — to absolutely no one’s surprise — that putana is both Greek and Italian. With their shared love of stage and in true theatrical fashion, the two also bond over their love for John Patrick Shanley as Tara recounts seeing a reading of the original Moonstruck screenplay just days before. It’s warm, funny, heartfelt, and full of culture. Grab your cawfee or freddo espresso and join us! 🙋🏻♀️ 🇮🇹Check out Tara's Live Show! 👉 📲 Follow Tara on Social Media! Reflections: No Resolutions, Just Real Tawk
In this short solo episode, Tara checks in before the holiday chaos kicks in. With Thanksgiving around the corner and the new year not far behind, she admits she’s been so busy she almost broke tradition and didn’t host Thanksgiving — because honestly, the idea of just going to a restaurant and being served sounded real good. Tara talks about how she doesn’t believe in New Year’s resolutions, but she does believe in taking inventory: What’s the best use of her time? What’s the best way to connect with the people who support her? And how can she make space for the things that actually matter — without burning herself out in the process? She invites the audience to do the same: not to make resolutions they’ll abandon by February, but to think about realistic goals, kinder expectations, and giving ourselves permission not to do it all. A little perspective, a little honesty, and a reminder that it’s okay to choose rest — even if Nonna wouldn’t approve. 🙋🏻♀️ 🇮🇹Check out Tara's Live Show! 👉 📲 Follow Tara on Social Media! Italian American Word of the Week: Mamadelle
This week’s Italian American Word of the Week is mamadelle — a little girl who acts like an old lady… and let’s just say, Tara was that kid. In this episode, she shares what it was like growing up an only child surrounded by adults, taking life way too seriously, and watching soap operas in the 3rd grade like a tiny nonna with homework. Now, as an adult, Tara reflects on learning to be gentler with herself, to loosen up, and to remember that life doesn’t always need a script or a schedule — sometimes it just needs joy. She also gives a heartfelt look at planning next year’s tour, how she’s leveling it up for the audience she loves, and why every detail — from her openers to the meet and greet filled with Bronx Italian cookies — is done with gratitude and intention. If you’ve ever felt like you were born 40 years old… or you just love someone who was… this episode’s for you. 🙋🏻♀️ 🇮🇹Check out Tara's Live Show! 👉 📲 Follow Tara on Social Media! Back to Forza D’Agrò: Where the Past Blesses the Present
In this very special episode of Cawfee Tawk, I take you with me on an emotional journey back to Forza D’Agrò, the small Sicilian town my grandparents once called home. I returned not just as a visitor – but as family. I renewed my vows in the very church where my grandparents were married… the same church made famous in The Godfather. And if that wasn’t surreal enough, the town welcomed me with open arms, celebrating my return in the mayor’s office like I was one of their own. I talk about what it felt like to stand beside my father in the place where our story began, how being embraced by a true community reminded me what actually matters, and how moments like this make you rethink the word “impossible.” I left Sicily with more than memories – I left with a dream… to one day buy a home in the town that shaped my family. And instead of talking myself out of it, I’m learning to buy into my dreams. If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to go home to a place you’ve never lived… this one’s for you. 🙋🏻♀️ 🇮🇹Check out Tara's Live Show! 👉 📲 Follow Tara on Social Media! "Cawfee from Sicily” A Solo Tawk with Tara Cannistraci
This week’s Cawfee Tawk comes to you a little differently—I pre-recorded it because I’m in Sicily with my dad, celebrating his 80th birthday and bringing him back to his parents’ hometown of Forza d’Agrò, where The Godfather was famously filmed. In this solo episode, I share why this trip feels so emotional—thinking of the family who are no longer with us, and how precious real, unhurried time together has become over the generations. Cawfee Tawk has always been about those personal, heart-to-heart moments over a relaxed cup of cawfee, and I’m reminded just how rare and valuable those moments truly are. 🙋🏻♀️ 🇮🇹Check out Tara's Live Show! 👉 📲 Follow Tara on Social Media! "Bronx Italian Pride"- A Solo Tawk with Tara Cannistraci
Tara sits down for a solo Cawfee Tawk to share the honor of being named Grand Marshal of this year’s Bronx Columbus Day Parade—a celebration that feels like coming home. She reflects on the smells, sounds, and heart of the Bronx that shaped her childhood, and why anything that blends Italian heritage with her beloved borough means so much. Tara also speaks candidly about the frustration of seeing Italian-Americans too often reduced to mobster stereotypes in films and plays, noting how she recently watched the film Versace and saw the play Just in Time and was struck that there weren’t Italian-Americans playing the parts of Italians. She believes every culture deserves respect and authentic representation. "Grow Where You’re Planted" – A Cawfee Tawk with Billy Gardell
Billy Gardell joins Tara for a heartfelt (and hilarious) sit-down that’s as warm as a fresh pot of Sunday morning coffee. Billy opens up about the life-changing advice his wife gave him—“grow where you’re planted”—and how it guided him from a humble Pittsburgh upbringing to finally embracing Los Angeles and landing Mike & Molly after more than two decades in comedy. Together, they swap laughs about Gen X being the ultimate survivors, share why we can’t give up on the younger generation, and talk about how traveling (and truly living) fuels the best jokes. In this episode of Cawfee Tawk, Tara breaks down the Italian-American phrase “mezza morte”—literally, “half dead.” It’s the perfect way to describe how we run ourselves ragged these days, working to the bone until we collapse and then convincing ourselves we’ve “earned” one day off. But where’s the balance? Tara gets personal about how losing a family member suddenly shook her perspective, and how being already emotionally and physically depleted made it that much harder. Life doesn’t wait—so why are we living half-dead? Grab a cup, take a breath, and let’s tawk about finding the energy to live while we’re still living. 🙋🏻♀️ 🇮🇹Check out Tara's Live Show! 👉 📲 Follow Tara on Social Media! “The Plastic Couch Mentality” A Solo Tawk with Tara Cannistraci
In this episode of Cawfee Tawk, Tara gets real about growing up Italian-American, where half the house was a museum—plastic on the couch, china nobody touched, and wine that never left the basement. That “save it for a special occasion” mentality followed her into adulthood… until life gave her a wake-up call. After losing her stepfather suddenly at just 71, Tara realized: enough waiting. Every day is the occasion. So wear the good pajamas, open the good bottle, and for God’s sake—sit on the couch already. 🙋🏻♀️ 🇮🇹Check out Tara's Live Show! 👉 📲 Follow Tara on Social Media!
