How work is worship…If you don’t work, you don’t eat. 2 Thess 2:6-12
In this week’s Wednesday in the Word, Stu Epperson and Dr. Carson explore a challenging but deeply practical passage: 2 Thessalonians 3:6–12 and the biblical dignity of work. Paul commands believers to live orderly lives, work diligently, and avoid idleness and meddling. Through Paul’s own example, the discussion examines the difference between being unable to work and being unwilling to work, the responsibility of Christians to provide for themselves and their families, and the church’s role in compassion and accountability. The conversation also explores how our work can become a powerful witness for Christ. Whether you are an employee, employer, stay-at-home parent, or ministry leader, your daily work is an opportunity to glorify God and serve others with excellence. Key themes: the biblical work ethic, diligence, responsibility, church discipline, Christian witness in the workplace, serving others, and finding purpose in our daily work. Scripture: 2 Thessalonians 3:6–12; Ecclesiastes 9:10; Ephesians 2:10; Ephesians 4:28; Colossians 3:23–24; Proverbs 12:27; Proverbs 16:26.
