LOOK WHO IS COMING FOR DINNER!
Look who is coming for dinner! is a podcast hosted by Bob Trigg from his studio on the Central coast of NSW, Australia. Guests are invited to choose 5 (five) musicians (or people from the music industry eg producers / crew / managers) who they would like to invite over for dinner at their house. The 5 "dinner guests" can be from ANY period of time (eg from Mozart - a member of Metallica), or even from a movie or cartoon (eg Elwood Blues or Bleedin’ Gums Murphy…) Basically, the guest can choose the 5 musos who they would love to have a dinner with, and along the way they get to tell why they chose each guest, what they plan to serve the guests, who will be sitting next to who etc, plus we also get to learn about the podcast guest and what they do in real life when they're not hosting dinner parties with hella rockstars...sounds FABULOUS!!!

On this episode we have a 🔥🔥🔥 drummer called Ben Ellingworth. I first met Ben when he was working in the Billy Hydes music equipment rental place in Sydney and drumming in this sik band called mm9 who played a lot at a venue I worked at called the Annandale and then one time they came on a national tour as the main support act for this other band I was tour managing called Karnivool (this tour is definitely in my top 5 tours of my whole career.) 15 years after that tour and Ben is now playing drums with Gflip touring this mega tour with G pretty much since covid ended and G blew up all over the world - and its still going! Along the way Ben also worked with many other bands eg Illy and Peking Duk and is also working with an emerging artist called Tilly Fenton, but what I love about this tho is way back on that 'vool tour and when I saw Ben at the Billy Hyde's he would always be super friendly but always tell me that he was gonna be playing massive stages one day and now he is and I am so stoked for him b/c he is the nicest dude, he absolutely loves drums and drumming so he is doing what he has always dreamed of which I find really inspiring. Plus he fecking rips on the drums and is just awesome to watch - links in the shownotes. Gflip just released a new album called "The Dream Ride" and is on tour right now - currently in the USA and Canada then over to the UK and then Australia in late feb / march 2026 - tickets are on sale now. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME ETC.! Yes! Today marks the 2nd birthday of the LWICFD! Podcast and to help celebrate this very special anniversary for me (see EP.#31), I am extremely honoured to have my dear friend Peter Hughes! 🥳 I first met Peter back in 2005 (pretty much to the day this pod drops 😳!) when I got asked to do the sound and Tour Manage the band Peter was playing bass and singing beautiful harmonies in…The Mountain Goats who were blowing up in Australia and globally with songs such as “This Year”, “No Children” and “Dance Music”. For 20+ yrs Peter toured with the 🏔️ 🐐 and I was lucky enough to tour Aus&NZ with them on 4 occasions. Peter even came to stay with my wife and I at our house at the conclusion of the 2006/2007 tour for a week (with another rad dude who was on that tour - John Vanderslice) so we have a lot of good history and I really enjoyed catching up with him and hear his journey from growing up in California to now, especially because… …late last year, Peter “retired” from the MGs - but he didn’t go and drink cocktails on the beach while enjoying retirement. Instead he jumped on a plane and came back to Australia to record a brand new solo record called “Half-Staff Blues” which comes out on 5TH SEPT so I strongly recommend you head on over to Peter’s bandcamp and get a copy (link below). Podcast for 2024 we have Dave from The Banger Rebellion! ✊🏼💥🤘🏼 The Banger Rebellion is a beautiful chrome Airstream caravan that serves up these AMAZING gourmet sausages + also a variety of toasted sandwiches (my top 2 favourite food groups 😋) & is located at 44 The Esplanade, Ettalong Beach, NSW, Australia & I cannot recommend the food there highly enough 🤤. Being an ex-sausage slinger myself I know how tough it is out there on the tongs and so I have nothing but respect & admiration for this operation & I look forward to championing the rebellion and seeing where this revolution will go. Happy 1st Birthday to LWICFD! Thats right, on this day last year (22/8/23) ep#1 dropped & now here we are, all grown up with 31 eps out there & 1 year old! Whilst also being a day of celebration, it’s also a very bittersweet day for me as it also marks the 4yr anniversary of my dear Dad dying. However, rather than sit around & continue to get all depressed & upset at this same time each year, I decided to try & make this day a happier one for me which is why I dropped ep1 on this date, as kind of a tribute to my Dad & also to help me deal with it in my own way. My Dad was a great bloke, he loved music & food & he loved having dinner parties with my Mum & their mates. Dad was also a Research Scientist & so after he died my Mum, brother & I decided to set up a scholarship in Dads name to assist a PhD student who is researching Glioblastomas (or GBM, which is the type of cancer my Dad had). This year the Tim Trigg Scholarship for Glioblastoma research was awarded for the first time & the person who it was awarded to is my guest on this VERY special episode of LWICFD! 💥 Her name is Jacinda Holtsmark, a PhD student at the University of Sydney where she is working hard to kick GBM in the arse. Jacinda also has an amazing story to tell (that also went viral) about her own journey with cancer & how she met her cancer surgeon (who had operated on her when she was just an infant) by chance during a uni zoom lecture in lockdown 2021! It is my pleasure to introduce to you Andy Fermo for this episode of LWICFD! Andy served as a Commando in the Australian Defence Force, achieving the rank of Corporal and specialising in Electronic Warfare. He served 2 tours in Afghanistan & upon returning home he realised he was suffering from PTSD. Andy tells us of his journey of how he got into the army & some of his time in the war zone & what happened after he came back. He also explains his new project, Invisible Injuries which aims to provide support through connection and ambassadorship to improve the mental health and wellbeing of veterans, first responders (and their immediate support) experiencing PTSD. In his free time, Andy also is a DJ + proud husband & father & like I wrote above, it was an absolute honour to have Andy on this episode.
