In May 2024, the EU introduced the Critical Raw Materials Act as a Union-wide law. The ambitions are high: in just a few years, by 2030, the EU will increase its self-sufficiency and recycling of critical metals and minerals, while reducing its dependence on individual countries. As a number of critical raw materials, lithium, cobalt and nickel, are used to produce batteries – how will this affects the battery industry?
