Beyond Closed Doors
We don’t talk about domestic violence. Despite its prevalence in our real-life communities, in the news, and in media we consume, the stigma persists. It too often goes unnamed even when entire storylines revolve around abusive relationships or coercive control. Bringing up domestic violence as a topic of conversation with friends and family (especially with kids and teens) might feel tricky or uncomfortable, but it’s vitally important to break the silence and bring the topic of domestic violence Beyond Closed Doors. Every other week, we examine a piece of media that exemplifies a type of abuse and follow up with a more in-depth discussion of the topic with an advocate or legal professional. We look forward to bringing these discussions to you. This week, our host, Lauren Duff, is joined by Aishwarya Sinha, prevention specialist at PCADV, for an Ask an Advocate session on the gender wage gap. The previously-recorded session aired on Facebook Live in March 2022. If you are seeing similarities in your situation, please contact your local .
