Autism at University: Anxiety about the News
Many students are concerned about world events in February 2022, and the situation in Ukraine has caused a lot of anxiety. Anxiety is a big part of autism and this combined with the tendency to ruminate and catastrophize can lead to autistic students becoming overwhelmed by their anxieties. Clare Squires, Disability Officer for Autism at DeMontfort University in Leicester, UK, talks about why students with autism can be overwhelmed by their anxiety, and offers some strategies to help students cope with their feelings about the conflict in Ukraine. During the podcast Clare mentions the Healthy DMU podcast where there are mindfulness sessions https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/de-montfort-university/id1514565637
