Hey, I'm Sydney and through the course of this podcast I'm going to teach you more about elopement planning. If you are planning an adventure elopement and aren't sure where to start - this is for you! Let me guide you through the elopement planning process so you can have an epic, stress-free day with your partner! Want to learn more in the meantime? My Favorite Elopement Planning Resources - - Similar to planning an elopement in the United States, planning a destination elopement in Europe begins with finding a photographer that’s familiar with the country you’re planning to elope in! I recommend hiring a photographer that travels to Europe to avoid language barriers, will be able to communicate during US work hours, and can recommend other English-speaking vendors to you! Legal Marriage In order to legally get married in advance of your Iceland elopement, you will need to submit documentation (passport info, birth certificates, etc.) to the government so that your marriage may be made legal in Iceland. Read more about the details Symbolic Marriage I’m a huge fan of the symbolic marriage… I am also here to remind you that your wedding day is yours whether or not you sign a piece of paper, and don’t let that be what holds you back from eloping internationally. There is a lot less stress in planning, a lot less forms, and the legality of it is such a small part of your day you’re bound to not even miss signing a piece of paper. The best seasons to elope at Mt. Hood are fall and summer! During fall, crowds will decrease, you will get to see the changing leaves, and temperatures begin to drop. The summers are more crowded, but you will see a lot more sunshine and warmer temperatures than in the winter and spring. If you are considering eloping in the summer, I recommend choosing a weekday to avoid crowds! Our day began walking up a hidden trail among tall pines and forest overgrowth. After an hour of dense fog with E & C's pup in tow, we emerged at a secluded alpine lake. By a stroke of luck - the sun peeked out from behind the clouds as E & C began reading their vows. They went from deep belly laughs to tears. Their intimate ceremony ended with their dog signing their marriage license with his paw print, as they excitedly announced that they just got married in coordinates no one else had before. In that moment I knew exactly why I am so passionate about being an elopement photographer in Colorado. I'm here to plan a day that represents your relationship to its fullest. Whether that's hiking up a mountain or something as simple as watching the sunrise over the mountains with a thermos of coffee...
