Basic Teen TV: Dawson's Creek Rewatch

If you're a child of the 90's then you might remember shows like "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," "Felicity," "My So-Called Life," and "Dawson's Creek" to name a few. This show will attempt to revive those glorious or maybe not-so-glorious teenage feels with in-depth conversations about Dawson's hair, high-school parties and why doesn't anyone remember that "My So-Called Life" was only on the air for one season? We'll be drinking a little wine, a little vodka, and engaging in fully coherent conversation about all of this and much more. The first show up is Dawson's Creek! We hope you enjoy!

It's Airport Day in Capeside We have FINALLY made it to the final episode of Season 5, “Swan Song.” Five years of our lives down the drain watching Dawson’s Creek. So, we had to take this episode in chronological order because of all the madness. Everyone in Capeside is at the airport and everyone has a storyline. Some people make some very wrong decisions and some maybe make some surprising decisions. The majority of this episode takes place in the airport as we see the gang heading off (or not) for their summer adventures. A lot of shit goes down so we had to take this episode piece by piece. Everything is Live or Die We are yet again baffled by the title of episode 22, “The Abby” but whatever. We give up. Moving on! Quite a few of our favorite cast members deal with some family dramas in this episode. Joey visits her father in jail but he’s been paroled and didn’t tell her. Dawson has a very interesting conversation with his dad at his grave and struggles to tell Joey that he’s gotten an exciting opportunity in LA for the summer. Jen is confronted with an invitation from her estranged parents so will she go on an epic summer adventure with Jack or not. But the real juice of this episode surrounds Pacey and his inappropriate relationship with his boss, Alex. At the clubby club, we’re privileged to witness some of the most cringe scenes where Charlie hits on Joey, Audrey trying to get some random bro to make out with Joey, and the biggest cringe moment - Joey performing “I Want You to Want Me” with Charlie’s band. Dawson avoids all of his feelings regarding his dad and drinks himself into oblivion. To Cyndi, this means he is truly becoming a man. But the real juice from this episode is Jen’s plot to catch Charlie cheating on her. She’s got some help from the "other" girl, whose name is Nora. Cyndi has major beef with the agenda that Dawson’s Creek is trying to force onto us that Professor Wilder is a hottie. Dawson is cracking a little bit because he’s not dealing with his father’s death. Jack is distracted by the fraternity and Toby & Jen are pissed about it. We get a lovely display of gaslighting from Charlie when his and Jen’s relationship hits a bit of tension but Jen may have been right to trust her instincts.
