431: Matt Koff and Cat Man
Matt Koff! Comedian! Writer! Friend! Delight! More! Matt is a very funny comedian friend! We have a great chat and you can have a great listen! Then tonight you can watch his new special! Here's some more information about that from the press release that says it better than I ever could: Tonight: at 8pm ET, 2026 Tuesday: Any time: Emmy-Winning writer for the Daily Show, and winner of New York’s Funniest Stand Up 2023, Matt Koff is excited to announce the YouTube release of his second comedy hour, Cat Man, May 15th with a premiere at 8pm with Koff attending; he will be in the chat. Said Koff, “I’m excited to share my special with the broader audience of YouTube. If this special doesn’t bring about world peace, nothing will.” Cat Man is an hour of fresh stand-up material from the Comedy Cellar regular about divorce, middle-age and cats. Koff believes there is a real bias against men with cats. He says “People love cats, but men with cats make people uncomfortable. Including me. I’m a man with a cat and I’m creeped out by myself!” The special is also a reprieve for Koff from his main subject of joke-writing at the Daily Show: Donald Trump. He says “It was nice to do an entire special that doesn’t mention the president, whomever he may be. And judging from the state of the world, this could very well be my last comedy special, so I’m excited to get it out there.” He added, “I will still be touring doomsday bunkers though.” Cat Man was shot at The Comedy Cellar with some of Matt Koff’s long-time Daily Show colleagues including director David Paul Meyer, producer Asad Bokhari, and lighting director George Countas, fresh off his win as New York’s top Art Director Becca Gialanella, also a Daily Show colleague, transformed the Cellar’s Village Underground into a 1970s lounge. There are a number of other comics from his 23 years in the biz, including Jon Stewart himself (spoiler), that also make a guest appearance. Matt Koff had always dreamed of performing at the Comedy Cellar. He says “It took me years to get an audition there and I was so bitter about not getting in, sometimes I would walk past the Cellar and hiss at the club. Now I get to perform there and hiss at the audience when they don’t like a joke.” More About Matt Koff: Matt Koff is a Brooklyn-based stand-up comic and veteran Emmy-Winning TV writer working at The Daily Show for the last 13 years. His debut comedy album,, is out on 800 Pound Gorilla Records. As a stand-up, Matt has appeared on Comedy Central, WNYC, WFMU, and The History Channel, which is how you know he’s smart. Matt has also written for The Onion and The White House Correspondents' Dinner hosted by Trevor Noah. He won the title of ‘New York’s Funniest Stand Up’ in 2023 and co-created the Twitter sensation, which was called one of the. Praise For Matt Koff’s Stand-up: “Hilarious!” - Weird Al “Shamefully excellent” - Comedy Cake “A hilariously dark comedic debut” - the Daily Californian ”Koff is a great comedy writer” - Time Out NY York Matt Koff Online: Enjoy our conversation! 430: Anjelah Johnson-Reyes and Ugly Baby
Anjelah Johnson-Reyes! Comedian! Actor! Podcaster! Friend! Delight! More! We have a great chat and you can have a great listen! Anjelah's 7th comedy special, “Anjelah Johnson-Reyes: Ugly Baby” (a self-financed and self-produced special where she makes her directorial debut) is out today, May 10, 2026 starting at 12PM PDT / 2PM CDT on From the special's press release, the show is "a dynamic hour of standup that blends humor and heart, exploring ever-evolving family dynamics, embracing her current stage of life, and the grand adventure of becoming a first-time mom in her later years. Following the success of her last two specials, 'Say I Won’t' (over 8.6M views and counting) and 'Technically Not Stalking' (over 3.1M views and counting), it only makes sense that Anjelah also brings her 7th special to YouTube to continue making her comedy available to fans all over the world. The platform has been a home for Anjelah for over 20 years, ever since her 'Nail Salon' joke went viral. At the core of the special is Anjelah’s journey into motherhood in her 40s. Using her natural wit and charm, she opens up about personal struggles with fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum life, while touching on the universal themes of relationships, generational shifts, and fighting people on airplanes. Anjelah’s special is anchored in her relatability – you can’t help but feel that she is your cool Tia commiserating with you on everything. Ahead of the new special, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes shares: 'I’m grateful that I’ve been able to do this 7 times. My boobs may be falling lower but at least my career continues to reach new heights, all thanks to my loyal fans that have been riding with me for so long. I hope you enjoy my most vulnerable hour yet!' Filmed live across two sold-out shows at the historic El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, the special is a co-production between her Laugh On Beat production company and 800 Pound Gorilla. The special was directed by Anjelah Johnson-Reyes and executive produced by Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, Manwell Reyes, Stephen Gordon Walker, and Jordan Levy. Anjelah is one of the most successful stand-up comedians today with six comedy specials streaming on various platforms and selling out theaters across the world. Her 7th comedy special serves as the capstone to her largely successful “The Family Reunion” stand-up comedy tour, which spanned 100+ shows in major theaters across the US in 2025–2026. Over the course of the tour she sold over 200,000 tickets including two sold out shows at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, 4 sold out shows at The Grove of Anaheim, a sold out show at Smart Financial Centre in Houston, TX, and a sold out show at The Ryman in Nashville, TN. Born and raised in San Jose, California, and of Mexican and Native American descent, Anjelah has guest starred on shows such as Life & Beth, Superstore, The Shield, Ugly Betty, and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Her film roles include Enough Said, Our Family Wedding, and Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel. Most recently, Anjelah joined Eddie Murphy and Tracee Ellis Ross in the Amazon Prime feature, Candy Cane Lane. In February 2024, she returned for the second season of the Hulu original series, Life & Beth, and also hosted the 8-episode Tubi original series, My Crazy Quince, which premiered in May 2024. Anjelah published her first memoir titled, Who Do I Think I Am?: Stories of Chola Wishes and Caviar Dreams, in March 2022. She also recently launched her new comedy and mental health podcast, Funjelah, where Anjelah and her guests recount the things that they are grateful for and dive deep into how those gratitudes affect their lives. Based out of Nashville and Los Angeles, Anjelah lives with her husband Manwell, their daughter Rosie, and their dog Banzo." Enjoy! And this is only the first HALF of our chat. Greenpoint Comedy Club will feature the best comics in NYC and beyond and boasts a thoughtfully designed bar room where you can find expertly crafted cocktails (and more!) from afternoons through 2AM. The venue is over 2,000 square feet in a prime location in Greenpoint. The bar will open in late March, with a grand opening weekend on Friday, April 10 and Saturday, April 11. Live comedy will kick off on April 10 with an 8PM show, followed by an opening party with music, food and some of the coolest comics in NYC. The weekend will continue on April 11 with two shows at 7:30PM and 10:15PM. Greenpoint Comedy Club is a venue for comics, by a comic. From top of the line lighting and A/V systems to the design of the space, every detail of this club has been considered to maximize the experience for both the comics and the audience. This will be a place for comics to work regular spots, headliner nights and record their specials. Jeremy aims to create a place for comedians at all stages of their career to have an opportunity to reach new audiences. Jeremy has performed and produced stand-up in NYC and on the road for more than 15 years, He’s produced shows in comedy clubs, speakeasies, a boxing gym, and a brownstone in Cobble Hill, where monthly shows sold out consistently for two years. Armed with a unique sense of what works and what is missing from most comedy venues, Jeremy and Kayla aim to make the Greenpoint Comedy Club a destination for the best comedy in NYC. As Jeremy describes, GCC’s mission is “to run the highest quality show possible while also giving younger comics a chance to get their start.” Greenpoint Comedy Club will serve as an incubator for the comedy scene. With a mission to bring “the hang” back, guests and performers are welcome to mingle and network before and after performances. Jeremy says: “We want to create a club where you can spend an evening, not just see a show and go. We’ve intentionally designed this space so you can grab a drink and meet new friends all night long.” With a cozy atmosphere, ample seating and a top tier alcohol program curated by industry veteran and skilled mixologist Dory Greenberg, GCC aims to be a spot where you can grab a great drink and stay a while. While comedy is at the heart of everything Greenpoint Comedy Club does, the club will also feature live music, writing workshops and even after school programs with the intention of offering a space for creatives of all types to gather. ABOUT THE GREENPOINT COMEDY CLUB: The Greenpoint Comedy Club is NYC’s newest comedy club located in the nightlife center of Greenpoint. In 2022 Jeremy and his now wife Kayla started a comedy show in their apartment, Bubbe’s Comedy Hour, that ran successfully for over 2 years. 411: Firecracker Comedy!
12/16/2025
411: Firecracker Comedy!
Firecracker Comedy! Welcome to the first THREE-GUEST EPISODE of Broccoli and Ice Cream! Because... Firecracker Comedy is a comedy ‘supergroup’ composed of Gabby Gutierrez-Reed, Kate Strobel and Salma Zaky. Forged in the grade-A comedy incubator of Denver, CO, Firecracker Comedy has been putting on killer shows for years. The Firecracker Comedy album celebrates this trio of badass women who center their comedy, and everything they do around their deep and undying friendship, love, and appreciation for each other: “We started running Firecracker Comedy as a standup show in a tattoo shop in Denver years ago, when we all were in a bit of a dark place and at a crossroads in our lives. The show is a celebration of finding joy, building community, and being silly with your pals when the world around you is spiraling out of control. We even have matching firecracker tattoos!” Firecracker Comedy consists of 20 minute sets from Gabby, Kate and Salma, following an introduction from all three to welcome the audience to the group’s delightful chemistry. Each of the three comedians have distinct styles: Kate’s heartfelt storytelling, Gabby’s hilarious impressions, and Salma’s perfectly crafted one-liners. These differences compliment each other, much like in a friendship (or three)! Salma and Kate are now based in Brooklyn where they regularly bring the Firecracker vibes to Union Hall. The album is a culmination of material from their collective time in Denver - running that sold-out indie comedy show in the tattoo studio, hauling chairs across town, hanging flyers in every Denver coffee shop, stressing about if the broken sound system would work that night - as well as Salma and Kate’s early experiences in the Big Apple. The album shows how no matter where they find themselves, the three always come back together as friends. Gabby, Kate and Salma of course want their listeners to belly laugh for an hour straight, but they also want listeners to feel connected to them as a group, and be inspired to create silly little things with their friends too. What else is life really about besides deepening our relationships and collaborating with the ones you love? We have a great chat! You have a great listen! 409: Sydney Kane and Wife Material
Sydney Kane! Actor! Writer! Singer! Comedian! Her new show is called "Wife Material." ABOUT WIFE MATERIAL: Sydney Kane was just dumped for not being “wife material.” Desperate to figure out what wife material is, Sydney signs up for a drug trial for a magical pill that will help transform her into the perfect wife. The only side effect? Being transported into a dramatic interpretation of her love life: a one hour musical sitcom! Sydney takes you on a PG-13, (leaning R) journey through the most universal experience there is: falling in love and then falling out and then falling back in. And then regretting it, and telling your friends you’re done but then you’re not. And then you’re on your floor waiting for a text that never comes, so you get over it, and then you meet someone new. And you fall in love. Does this ever end? Will Sydney break out of her toxic dating cycle or stay in this endless loop? They say the only way to get over a break up is by breaking out into song and light choreo, so Sydney is giving that a shot. She’s also taking those pills*. One thing is for sure: if Sydney has an audience there is nothing she won’t do. 404: Jeremy Alder and Almost A Grown Man
Jeremy Alder! Comedian! Ex-preacher! Almost A Grown Man! Friend! Delight! More! We have a great chat! You have a great listen! About Jeremy Alder: Homeschooled in the heart of Texas by fundamentalist missionary parents with a penchant for conspiracy theories, Jeremy’s childhood was anything but conventional. Now married with children of his own, Jeremy’s material delves into the trials and tribulations of growing up homeschooled, the complications of religion, the mysteries of marriage, the chaos of parenting, and the existential crisis of aging—all with a healthy dose of skepticism and silliness, dry wit and charm. Jeremy headlines comedy clubs and bars around the country and has opened for several nationally touring acts, including Demetri Martin, Russell Howard, Tom Papa, Aparna Nancherla, Nicole Byer, and Chad Daniels. He has been a featured performer at numerous comedy festivals, including Laughing Skull Comedy Festival, SF Sketchfest, Big Sky Comedy Festival (Best of Fest), Asheville Comedy Festival, and Cleveland Comedy Festival (Best of Fest). Jeremy’s Dry Bar Comedy special, “Purity Pants”, has generated over 6 million across platforms. About his album "Almost A Grown Man": Jeremy Alder’s debut comedy album Almost A Grown Man is out courtesy of Blonde Medicine. A ‘güero’ born, raised and homeschooled in South Texas, Jeremy was steeped in a world of alternative facts and fervent beliefs and learned early on to find humor in life’s absurdities. Alder started comedy 10 years ago and now he’s got an autobiographical hour of jokes and stories about growing up weirdly religious and homeschooled in Texas, young marriage, remarriage, and fatherhood. Also, plenty of God, sex, drugs, and guns to keep it interesting. The album was recorded in the historic small town of Hillsborough, North Carolina, where Jeremy lives. Said Alder, “I recorded the album at a bar around the corner from my house. There were a lot of locals there, including the mayor, as well as my wife and kids. It felt like a community event!” Jeremy went to seminary after college, where he developed a humorous and provocative preaching style that sometimes got him in trouble. When a personal crisis led him to stop preaching and going to church, he turned to standup. The comedy community quickly became his new spiritual home, which he will be the first to tell you, is not a good thing. Jeremy met label heads Dominic Del Bene and Jessica Mozes by coincidence outside a show and found another supportive community in Blonde Medicine. Almost a Grown Man will is available wherever comedy is heard. Thanks for listening! And this is only the first HALF of our conversation. For part two, subscribe via Apple Podcasts or just
