NAAN FICTION TRAILER - REAL STORIES SERVED WITH SPICE
Growing up in an immigrant household, trying to straddle two cultures, two identities, my Canadian and my Asian, hasn’t been the easiest thing. If you’re like me, finding that sense of belonging can be tough…seriously it can be a gong show at times. That’s why here on Naan Fiction we dive into the real life stories and experiences we don’t talk nearly enough about. Of course, you can’t have naan without a good curry, so we’re going to get into the mild, medium and extra spicy sauce on being Asian in North America. Join host Meera Estrada as she bites into everything from the tough topics like all those isms: ageism, colourism, casteism, internalized racism and more within our communities. Plus lighter chews, like unpacking the Aunty phenomen, how we shamelessly carry hot sauce (or maybe the whole damn spice rack) wherever we go, and what happens when someone steps into our home without taking their shoes off at the door. (gulp). We'll have some heavyweight Asian comedians, actors, athletes, authors and more joining me to dish on their real life stories and experiences - the stories untold – no doubt making you laugh and possibly shed a tear too along the way.
