271 - Finances with David Nassief
Most of us are not trained on how to really build wealth. Some men are blessed with resources (at least at times), but often they do not know how to use those resources to truly build wealth. In the parable of the 5, 2 and 1 talents, the man who does not build them into wealth does not have a happy outcome. Do you want that fate? Join me in the as David Nassief shares his story and how God allowed him to learn how to really build wealth and invest in his future. David has a simple strategy to help anyone radically transform their financial picture. He offers these basic principles in a simple, easy-to-use, and free resource! I'm really excited for this episode. I can honestly I've been looking forward to this discussion since his email first reached my inbox. Early in my marriage, someone introduced me to the book Love and Respect by Emerson Eggerichs. This book is a game-changer in the seemingly impossible crazy cycle of marital conflict. This book has been the foundation of much of the coaching work I've done in both mine and others' marriages. Emerson has yet another new book that is the culmination of his research and thought. Yeah, another publication protesting against the dangers of relativism. It's easy to let this topic pass, simply claiming to know how bad it is, right? Don't be so quick. Join me in the as I review C S Lewis's book Abolition of Man. He is writing during the rise of relativism after World War 2, and as a classical English professor is uniquely suited to bring this issue up. In the abstract, we Christians know we will be accountable for our words and deeds to Jesus at our moment of judgement. Jesus had strong language about that. Join me in the as I talk about the importance of our words and the powerful effect that they can have in our world, in our families, and inside our own interior. Mental health challenges are real and common. Many of them do require professional help. Many of us, however, make our situation worse through our own actions. Many of us resist the Lord's plan to our own peril. Join me in the as I talk about a cool overlap between psychology and the faith: that of how our resistance and fear of something can make the situation blow up horribly. Accepting, even welcoming, something we may not find comfortable (but isn't what we want to make it mean) can transform our experience. Worse, most of us have also hurt those we love. Sometimes that can seem unforgivable. Honestly I wouldn't want to be friends with someone else who's hurt me as much as I've hurt myself. Have you ever noticed that sometimes what your wife says she wants isn't what she actually wants? While this is true for everyone, modern women are in a particular pinch about expressing what they want from a man. The truth is they simultaneously want a deep and powerful masculine presence from their man but are also scared of that masculinity. This can be a very confusing message to men - especially men who are not confident in their own masculinity. The solution is for you, the man, to both lean into authentic masculinity, but to do it in a way that remains true to you, and thus "safe." This is hard, and even scary, for us men to do! Join me in this episode as Joshn Tomeoni and I walk through this idea of authentic masculinity; how do we men find it and live it in a way that serves the women around us the best?
