They Said He May Never Run Again. Now He’s Chasing LA 2028 with Micah Williams (2)
What does it take to return to elite competition after being told you may never run again? In this episode Amy welcomes Olympian and NCAA champion Micah Williams back to the podcast to continue a story that looked very different the first time he appeared on Secrets to Abundant Living. After reaching the highest levels of track and field, Micah endured three knee surgeries and two eye surgeries, including procedures that failed, and eventually heard from a specialist that he might never run, jump, or compete again. At one point, he believed his career was over. This time, Micah returns with a very different update. After months of painful rehab, working a physically demanding full-time job, waking up at 5:00 AM to train, and fitting additional workouts around his workday, he competed for the first time in three years and ran the 100 meters in 10.12 seconds. Micah shares why that performance showed him he could compete at an elite level again, how patience became one of the biggest lessons of his recovery, and why his setbacks gave him a new purpose beyond simply winning races. Now Micah is working toward another World Championship team and ultimately the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, but getting there comes with a different challenge. Without a sponsor, he is currently funding his own coaching, rehab, recovery, travel, and training while continuing to work full-time. He explains how professional track athletes rely heavily on sponsorships, what additional support would allow him to do differently, and why community has become such an important part of a journey he once tried to handle entirely on his own.
