2360 How to Become Your Spouse's Soul Mate Being good friends is easy. But being married is quite the opposite. Have a marriage that sizzles as you learn how to become your spouse's soul mate. Many people are going to grumble with the simple fact that soul mates are not created; they are found. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at . But today, I want you to look at being a soul mate in a different way. What if soul mates were created? What if you could become your spouse's soul mate? How would that impact your marriage? Fewer arguments, deeper understanding Less confusion, more compatibility Fewer complaints, greater compassion If you were to take a poll as to how people view marriage and soul mates, they would describe it as two people who are "built" for one another coming together to do life. However, this way of thinking is so narrow-minded for what marriage is. Marriage is the coming together of two people who are willing to do the work to get to know each other at the deepest levels and do life together. It's not about the false expectations of you are who you are; no one has to change, and we are now soul mates. That's not real life, and that's not a great marriage. Our incredible marriage that my husband and I have now came at the cost of almost losing each other in a divorce. Yes, that's our story; a roller-coaster that led us to become soul mates. So you, too, can become your spouse's soul mate. But it means doing what everyone says is impossible. The K.I.S.S. ~ Do what's impossible! A fantastic marriage (or whatever adjective you want to use to describe an incredible marriage) doesn't come easy. First, you have to be willing to do the work daily and do what's impossible. Compassion, not compatibility. If you and your spouse took a test, you would not match up in many categories. And this is good! You want to be who God created you to be, as so should your spouse. But want you want to focus on is compassion, not compatibility. Marriage is not trying to be exactly alike, but to embrace the differences with compassion, therefore supporting the differences. Listen more than you argue. You are going to disagree. In fact, you are going to even question at times if you married the right person. To draw closer to your spouse, you need to listen more so you can hear your spouse's heart and head. What is going on upstairs really does matter. But if you keep trying to convince him/her to be like you, the only thing that will grow deeper is friction. Joy-filled versus happiness-driven. Joy is discovered not through your spouse, but through God and your personal walk with Him. However, it's easy to use joy and happiness interchangeably. If you think your spouse is going to make you happy, think again. Your spouse cannot give you everything you need. Only God can. So don't be happiness-driven. Instead, be joy-filled. Now, this just the beginning of the simple things in marriage. The real work happens when you choose to love your spouse every day. "Be present. Be incredible. 2359 Are You Imagining Things? Assumptions can get us as parents in trouble. Just because you think it's happening doesn't mean it is. Are you imagining things? You know what it's like lying in bed and you begin to see things in the dark. When you turn on the light, what you thought you saw was nowhere close to your reality. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at . That's how it is with parenting. We can think something is happening with our child, but really nothing may be going on. Why do we assume the worst with our children? They take a ride with their friends, and the phone rings. Where does your mind go? What's happened now? Maybe your child had difficulty in school. The phone rings and it's the school. Your thoughts, "This again?" We can be so quick to "dump 'n lump" our children in whatever category they seem to frequent often. If you want to escape this trap for parents, let go of the P.A.S.T.! The K.I.S.S. ~ Let go of the P.A.S.T.! Assumptions can limit your relationship with your child and stunt their personal development and growth. Possibilities over Probabilities. Probabilities go hand-in-hand with assumptions. Possibilities allow you to see with a different set of eyes, not expecting the same thing from the past. Acquire the facts, not the presumptions. Just because something has happened doesn't mean it will again. Now of course you want to stay on top of patterns. But don't get stuck thinking about the negative before the positive. Substitute quality over quantity. Your child needs to know that he/she matters. This is where your presence shines. Take A.I.M.! Do what you know needs to be done. So what are you doing to maintain balance in your life? What does each of the three legs look like (i.e., nutrition, fitness, and wellness)? Summer can be challenging to maintain your will. Winter makes it tough usually due to weather. Spring can be too pretty. And Fall can chilly too. This means that healthy living doesn't come by chance but by choice. 2356 The Intention of the Heart The intention of the heart depends on your presence. Whether it's messy or magnificent, rise to what is right in front of you. Tolkien continues, "And though I oft have passed them by, A day will come at last when I Shall take the hidden paths that run West of the Moon, East of the Sun." Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at . Are you in search of a secret gate or a new path? Maybe you just want something different than what you had yesterday. You roam your day seeking what you don't have only to realize what you do want is West of the Moon, East of the Sun. What needs you now and where you need to show up is in the present. It's in the messy middle or in the magnificent milestone. Messy and magnificent bear the same results. What differs though is the intention of the heart. The K.I.S.S. ~ The intention of the heart! Is your heart searching for excuses in the messy middle? Or are you willing to see the opportunities in the messy middle making way for a magnificent milestone? As much as we would like to place our concerns and worries in someone else's lap, only we can control how we see things. You can stay stuck in the mud, or look at it as a moment of detoxification. The intention of the heart comes from your perspective and the lenses you look at life. You can lean on the excuses or celebrate the possibilities. Failure is the opportunity to learn. But you determine if that's how you approach the situation/circumstance. Search your heart. Let God search your heart, too. 2354 Wait for the Lord Are you rushing through life trying to hurry the results your desire? "Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." (Psalm 27:14) Are you impatient when it comes to waiting on God? Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at . I can be so rushed in my every day, that my timetable gets very confused. Something I'm praying for may seem like I've been after it for months. But in reality, it may only be a few weeks instead of years. Regardless of your calendar, God's timetable works differently. I cannot explain why it is so, except for the mere fact that He desires us to lean on Him ALWAYS and wait patiently. Patience is not always my strength when I want something. I get very fussy and crabby when I can't get done what I'm after especially under my own strength. But that's the key. The Lord does not want us to hurry our results or be in control. He wants control and teaches us so. The K.I.S.S. ~ Wait for the Lord! And one thing I've noticed in waiting is that it strengthens my heart. It allows me to see life through God's eyes, not just my own eyes. Because if I saw life only through what I see, I would be a different woman. Now, I'm not perfect but I am trying to be patient and learn what God wants of me. Are you living your life waiting for the Lord? I think we all wait to some degree. However, today, I want to challenge you to wait for the Lord by being in action. Don't look at waiting as not doing anything. Waiting does not give you permission to sit on the sidelines. It does not give you the reigns to hang out in "Lazy Town". Your waiting still requires you to take A.I.M. on what's right in front of you whether is be a baby step or a big step. It's the next step. 2350 From Possibility to Reality From possibility to reality, there is a distance. Are you ready to go the extra mile with courage and commitment for your health? Every day you have the opportunity to be your best self. How much is your health worth to you? Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at . Many people want a different lifestyle, but are not willing to do what it takes. This can be in your health, business, relationships, spirituality, just to name a few. But most live in the world of mishaps. It reminds me of the Christmas cartoon Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer and the Island of Misfit Toys. If it doesn't fit, why commit? And that becomes our motto. We see it in our closets and as our reflections. However, to go from possibility to reality has to be much deeper than thinking you are less than and not good enough. You cannot make a change until you know where you are, where you are headed, and how you plan on getting there. Are you living in the moment, in a season, or within a habit? Where do you want to go? This is all about your goals. How can you get there? This is the plan on how you will reach your goals/lifestyle. Further, if you want to know one other thing that no one talks about, you gotta think about when you should quit. Believe it or not, quitting may actually do your body better. Don't be afraid to change what isn't working. Be bold in how you know you respond to your every day. 2349 Surprise Yourself First Taking care of everything and everyone else leaves you with only the leftovers. Surprise yourself first and do what you need. Why should you give everyone your best and leave the leftovers for you? Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at . I do it every day, and I bet you do too. So today is going to be a new day with a new mission. The K.I.S.S. ~ Surprise yourself first! What do you want to do today that will make your heart come alive? For me, I began changing my rooms to reflect what I wanted in my home. I took care of what really matters for me, and then let the others take care of themselves. After I completed the project, then I went into overdrive for them. When you serve yourself first, you have more to give to others. So stop putting yourself on the backburner. Go for that walk. Work out to keep your energy high. Write 500 words not because you have to but because you get to. Plant your flowers. Shop at your favorite store (assuming your budget allows it.) This is about playing more with what you desire in order to give more to others. No longer do you need to be ashamed of doing what you need. Surprise yourself first. 2348 Is What You're Doing Working? Sometimes your strongest discipline can become your weakest link. Is what you're doing working for you now? There is a drive in all of us to push through. But at what time do you change your direction and focus? Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at . Life's game plan is one that requires flexibility and adaptability. However, sometimes we can be so bull-headed that we simply do not want to change course. The path that is before you is rocky, but you are determined to make what you are doing work. And at what cost? Your dreams and goals can be lost in strengths to always push through. You are not a failure if you change course. In fact, you are a champion in your everyday life. So stop, drop, and edit. The K.I.S.S. ~ Stop, drop, and edit! Knowing when and following through on what needs to happen in the moment, is a mark of a leader and a champion. STOP - A lot of times what you think will work flat out doesn't work. So STOP! Stop what you're doing! DROP - You have to be willing to drop what isn't working. EDIT - Time to make a change. Don't just talk about it or think about it. Take A.I.M. on what needs to happen. It all came down to the shift in the middle. Stephanos Tsitsipas won the first two sets. Novak Djokovic showed no signs of being unable to bounce back until he did. Stop, drop, and edit. Djokovic did what he knew he had to do relying on his training and his strengths. He gave up on the game plan he walked out on the court with and made the necessary changes. And because of his willingness to do what it took, he is halfway to having a grand slam; the Australian Open and now the French Open. History is in the making. But I bring this up because God desires our hearts to be pure. Pure from temptations that hide in the crevices of hurt and pain that have gone unhealed. 2346 Love Doesn't Always Equal Easy Just because you are in love, does not mean you know how to love. What each of us longs for, the more it appears we fight for. Love doesn't always equal easy. But why shouldn't it be easy? Love conquers all. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at . However, you have to be willing to do what it takes to make love stronger. People want to fight for what they believe to be love, but what's forgotten is how to really love. We focus too much on WIIFM... What's in it for me? Love requires sacrifice and consistency. And both of those must come from you. You can't look at your partner and expect only them to give. You must give as much if not more even when you don't feel like it. The K.I.S.S. ~ Give as much if not more! Love begins to fade if you are not swayed by the fact that love takes more. More forgiveness More consistency More presence More forgiveness. You have to be willing to release the person (whether he/she is right or wrong) from your judgment. Because when you or I judged, that determines how we react, which makes it more challenging to respond. A response gives breath to the heart to see who is before you, not the situation or circumstances. More consistency. What every couple needs to build life together is consistency. You have to be a willing participant and show up for your spouse, your relationship, and you. More presence. You have to commit to being present. 2345 It's No Longer A Secret It's no longer a secret. You want what's best for your child, but your child has something different in mind. How do you find satisfaction in what you can't control? Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at . Because as much as we think we control our children, they still have all the power. Parents, we are just sitting ducks. But the thing is, we don't have to feel that way. We can still do what we know is best for our children, and pray that our consistency will hold out over time. So how do you win the game of parenting when you feel that what you're doing doesn't or isn't making a difference? You must be willing to go the extra mile and score B.I.G.!!! The K.I.S.S. ~ Score B.I.G.! Regardless of the outcome you are searching or hoping for, you have to be willing to still do what's in the best interest of your child. As you know, parenting is not for the weak even though we feel weak more than strong most of the time. However, the more we flex our B.I.G. muscles, the stronger you and I become as parents. Balance the pressure! Winning isn't everything. And being a good parent doesn't mean that you win every time. In fact, if you feel like you're losing more than winning, you're probably on the right track. So do not focus on how your child is ignoring you. Look at what makes him/her pause. This is the kind of disruption you want for your child. Ignite the push! When the going gets tough, the tough get going. You can't give up just because the outcome isn't what you expected. Keep going. "One step at a time leads to miles of greatness." Gut the presumptions! When you set the stage for what must happen, disappointment is certainly in your future. So drop the expectations and be present. You listening and being there for your child is golden! Let your presence trump your presumptions. Please hear my heart. 2343 Accelerate Your Strength Movement keeps the body strong and the mind alert. The body achieves what the mind believes. What are you doing to accelerate your strength? And this is not just any strength. This is where you strengthen before and after your workout. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at . The gold is made in the warm-up and the cool-down of any routine. However, let's be honest. Do you really do a warm-up and cool down every time your workout? I wish I could respond with the affirmation. But I so do not. And that's really when I pay the price. My muscles go into shock when I jump right in. And when the workout is over, I feel tired and think I can't do one more thing. On the contrary, I am always stronger than I think. And so are you!! The K.I.S.S. ~ Accelerate your strength! What your mind and body need are the pre- and post-workouts. These are the ones you think really don't matter, but give substance to your training. It makes all the difference. Warm-up Pumps nutrient-rich, oxygenated blood to your muscles, speeding up your heart rate and breathing. Length of the warm-up should last five to ten minutes. Work all major muscle groups. Start slowly and then increase the pace. Routines consist of cardio and range-of-motion exercises, such as jumping jacks and lunges. Enjoy dancing or a brisk walk with arms pumping, too. Cool-Down Slow movements for your body lasting five to ten minutes. Prevents muscle cramps and dizziness while gradually slowing your breathing and heart rate. Incorporate stretching exercises to relax and lengthen muscles throughout your body and improve your range of motion. Hold each stretch for 10 to 30 seconds. The longer the hold, the more flexible you become. Flow from one stretch to the next with no rest in between. As you warm-up and cool down, be sure to include your thoughts in the process. What you think about you bring about. So position your thoughts to move you forward in your fitness and daily routine. Anticipate how you want to feel and what you want to see. You matter!!! 2341 Are You Hiding in the Secret Garden? Sometimes you think you want to disappear, but all you really want is to be found. So why are you hiding in the secret garden that is keeping you from your dreams? Very rarely do we consider our life a part of the secret garden. But this garden is so welcoming and enticing. You know it all too well. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at . It screams with colorful temptations of comfort that soothes the soul; the comfort of weeds that blanket your aspirations. You're not good enough. The little bright blooms attract your actions that support only what you know; habits that don't work and setbacks that keep you from a comeback. Most of us talk about our dreams, how many kids we want, and where we want to live. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at . But looking at personalities directly is rarely a topic of discussion. So what if you did look at your all's personalities? Do you think that would change anything? Of course, it would! Why do you think marriage is so challenging? You are doing life not only with another individual, but one with a unique personality. Real-life is built upon experiences, one experience at a time. Of course, our children think that an experience is a lifetime. But as adults, we know it's just a blink in the journey. Accountability is an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility for one's actions. As a family, we need to take accountability for ourselves and as a unit. So many times we define success by an outcome. But what if your success was measured by your leadership? Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at . If a snapshot was taken of how these men and women lived, some might say they were not successful for the mere fact that a win was not present. 2332 Love Takes Time If love was just a chemical attraction, it would be love at first sight. But why rush something of greatness. Love takes time. As I was lying with my husband reflecting over the day, I asked him if he had a headliner for my episode today? Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at . He actually said yes! I was a little surprised as this was late at night and he usually checks out early when it comes to deep thinking. But I was intrigued. So I asked more questions. He continued to say how many refer to "love at first sight" as that deep infatuation with someone. It's truly a chemical reaction that draws you near each other with the end intention of a physical encounter. However, true love comes over time. In order to love someone, you have to get to know them over time and see their heart, who they are on the inside. But what happens is that life gets complicated. We want to live with what feels good. But those feelings can be a distraction. Don't make permanent decisions with temporary feelings. The K.I.S.S. ~ Don't make permanent decisions with temporary feelings! When the going gets tough in marriage, don't rely solely on the feelings. They can lead you astray and put you in a position that you later regret or question how you got there. Distinguish between facts and feelings. This is where you focus on the know-good versus the feel-good. Double-down on your values. If what you quickly see as a way out, does it support your values? If it does not, then you better think about taking a step back. Dedicate your heart to take risks. Work beyond what is easy. Don't throw in the towel because you're finished. Take a step back, understand the challenge, and be intentional with your actions. Take AIM on what matters. Don't make permanent decisions based on temporary feelings. Love is worth the work!
