51. My Story pt2: Illusionary Stories Trauma Can Implant Into The Psyche
This topic is a tough one. As I face my darkness again, I am reminded how this trauma is not unique. The effects of it is something that is still very much alive in today's world. In this episode, I talk about the suppression of the feminine voice. How this wound has been imbedded into the psyche and how it can show up as a limiting belief, yet, this belief runs much deeper than the mind. It is a wound inflicted by trauma that has planted a seed of illusion into the body, heart, and soul. Then if this implanted seed within the wound happens to be left unattended, it ends up growing to rule the way one can perceive themself, others, and the world, contributing to the perpetuation of suffering. My story pt2 breaks down this concept further. By re-releasing my story I am coming back into the understanding that this is bigger than me. To offer my heart in such a raw vulnerable way, to be witnessed, to be bear. I am embodying a type of courage that I had lost touch with, but as the law of impermanence goes... it has visited me again. And to that I say, "Hello, old friend. Thank you for being here." In this episode, I provide more space to unpack a couple potent points I made last week. Language is incredibly important in how it shapes the way we view ourselves and the world, and whether or not we'd like to admit it, certain sayings do get embedded into our psyche. I wanted to take a moment to shine a light on 2 seemingly innocent phrases adults often say to children that can be detrimental to overall well being if a child does adopt that as truth within their unconscious mind. I also discuss my current experiencing as I make my story public again. How I am remaining curious as familiar feelings of the past continue to visit me. I feel so fucking uncomfortable re-releasing these episodes from 2021. The stories are LOUD. Any excuse, any reason, to put this off. To not have this be seen. This is a new layer of unearthing. It doesn't feel like it did when I was first facing my darkness. Hell, it doesn't even feel like it did when I first publicly told my story in 2020 (which was in a room full of around 150 people... ballsy is what that was). This is different. Parts of me are still pissed that this is the life my soul chose. That pain so unfathomable is an experience each human signs up for. But I also understand why darkness exists and wouldn't change is. At this point in time, I can say that I do feel free in many ways from this, yet this rage is awakening inside me now that I'm re-releasing my story. A rage that has matured. That has gone through the layers of the soul and does not feel attached to this trauma anymore... Maybe that's what feels different and why the stories and fear have tried to come in to contain the rage. The rage that is now unearthed. Unhinged. Not attached. A rage that is free from the trauma. In this episode, I am coming out of hiding. I've realized I stepped out of integrity when it came to my original intention of creating this podcast and even the purpose of me being a guide for others. A part of my soul's mission is to share my experiences, to lead by example, and to then teach others what I've learned with healing. Around two years ago though, I took down all my episodes where I shared my story. Eventually, I stopped talking about it all together. Which means, I really stopped sharing my lessons. Shame came back to play and had me in a choke hold. I started to hide away. But as I've worked with this new layer of shame, here I am again, coming out of hiding. Allowing myself to be seen, with a story to tell. Thank you for witnessing me. The healing journey continues. May we all walk each other home. This is an incredibly special moment because it is the re-release of my very first podcast episode!! I started this show back in 2021 on a mission to share my story and show the world that "even in the midst of pain, I had found purpose." How I could "create light while feeling the darkness." But in 2022, I decided to take all the episodes down. I could feel a massive internal shift happening that needed the space to evolve. I started the show back up at the end of 2022, but as I was telling my story I decided to take those episodes down again. After all this space, and life being completely different, I am feeling called to re-release some original episodes as I am stepping back into the world of Art Therapy along with continuing to retell my story. A big part of how I deliever my purpose work is in being a living testimony. I lead by example. The art of being lost can be seen as a form of an ego death. I see it as a phase of life that visits us after our ego has already "died" because we are then completely in the unknown. We are lost. Then the journey of this phase is about shifting into a new level of soul embodiment. In this episode, I read a section from the book Soulcraft, which breaks down this lovely art form. I also share how I am just getting out of a phase of being lost that lasted for over a year when I was called to let go of the Art Therapist identity. Then after all the plot twists within that year I have recently landed back into the field of therapy but yet in a completely different, more expansive and whole way, with new identifiers thrown into the mix, which is what my soul was asking of me to discover. And I never would have discovered that if I didn't have the courage to be lost. "The shift from being lost to being found (in a new, unpredictable way) is a gradual and indirect one. The way to encourage that shift is to first accept that you don't know how to get to the place you want to be and then opening fully to the place you are until the old goals fall away and you discover more soulful goals emerging. What happens when you've arrived at this reality that took years to create for yourself? It may seem like a simple concept. Like, of course after reaching a new state of existing it's going to require a reevaluation of what needs to be done in order to maintain this. But also, you're in a place you've never been in before, so you don't actually know what to do yet. In the spirituality realm, it is often taught how you need to show up to become this future version of self. That the work you need to put in now is to act is if you are already that future self in order to collapse time. The thing is though, that work will always be future based. In this episode, I share how everything that I had been doing on this healing journey for years was for future me, and although, I was learning how to accept the present moment, I was still working my ass off to no longer be in the present moment. Because what was in those moments was not the life I wanted to continue living. But now... I want to be in the present moment. Which has never happened before. I want to be in the now, so everything has to shift in the way I show up. At this phase I am no longer striving to embody a future Kelsey. I am wanting to maintain this version of self, this outer reality, that I devoted my life to in creating. Because I no longer need to be in a constant state of showing up to save myself and transmute trauma, that phase has been completed. On this episode, I share how anger and acceptance go hand in hand with healing. That once we allow ourselves to feel angry, we create space to embody acceptance about a situation; once we accept a situation without trying to control its natural cycle, we create space to allow anger to flow through. We cannot have one without the other. I share how I have been suppressing anger to the point that it has mirrored stagnation in my exterior world with the struggles I’ve been experiencing in finding a place to move. Living in a society that glorifies disconnection, it can be tricky to recognize when it's time to face our darkness. So many disharmonious things have been normalized that we have been conditioned to turn a blind eye on tending to our internal world. In this episode, I break down 4 talking points to get curious about. That if you experience these 4 things, it is time to face your darkness. It is your body signaling you to pay attention. How present do you feel throughout your day? Do you fill your day with a lot of distraction? Can you enjoy being alone? As you're falling asleep, are you at peace or is your mind/heart racing? Do your emotions feel out of control? Do you feel that you often have a disproportionate emotional reaction to daily life situations? 7 seems to be quite the number! Did you know that it only takes 7 years for the body to create all new cells? Did you know that it can take an orange seed 7 years of growth before it bears fruit? Did you know that it can take at least 7 years after a traumatic incident before the psyche is ready to face the past and heal? This intricate time frame of 7 years had me thinking... I have been facing my darkness for going on 7 years, so what the f**k happens now?
