Bethlehem Pennsylvania Christmas Spirits and Haunted History
Episode 62: Slice of the Paranormal traveled to Christmas City USA, better known as Bethlehem Pennsylvania, to chase the lingering breath of Christmas Past. We wandered through shadows of ghostly carolers, stepped into a haunted bookstore that creaks like it remembers every visitor, and traced the footprints of Count Zinzendorf and the Moravians who shaped this place long before streetlights and shop windows. As you sit in the glow of your Christmas tree or holiday tree with a glass of egg nog warming your spirit, spare a thought for the town that claims the first documented Christmas tree in America. Bethlehem holds its history close, and those old stories drift through the streets like voices carried on winter air. We invite you to join us in walking these timeless paths, then settle in with a cocktail at the Sun Inn. Listen closely. William Goodridge and the Ghosts Beneath the Floorboards
Episode 61: Slice of the Paranormal travelled to York, Pennsylvania to visit the William C. Goodridge Freedom Center and Underground Railroad Museum, a site that once carried courage through its walls like a quiet current. The museum was closed that day, so we walked the grounds, watching the windows the way an old soul watches a storm, half expecting a restless hand to nudge one open. This house once displayed one of the first Christmas trees in York, a bright symbol of the season glowing inside a place that also carried people toward freedom. William Goodridge hid his work from the world to protect those fleeing bondage, and some say the spirits of those travelers still linger in the hand dug hiding space beneath the kitchen floor. Like something out of a Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, the chains of bondage are said to echo faintly through the structure, a reminder of the weight this home once held. Step into the season with us as we look upon that Christmas tree and reflect on the souls that once lived, hid, hoped, or perhaps still hover in this remarkable space. If you follow haunted history, Underground Railroad stories, or Pennsylvania legends, this visit will sit with you long after the lights go out. Sources: Spooky York Pennsylvania by Scott D. In this episode, Slice of the Paranormal explores the haunted grounds of Hex Hollow in Pennsylvania and uncovers the chilling history behind the infamous Nelson Rehmeyer murder of 1928. Millheim Hotel Haunting & The Headless Switchman
Episode 46: In this episode of Slice of the Paranormal, the team travels to Centre County, Pennsylvania to investigate two chilling legends. First, we explore the haunted Millheim Hotel, rumored to be the final waiting place of President Millard Fillmore’s mistress. History says he may have fathered a child with her and then disappeared—ghosting her in more ways than one. Is her spirit still roaming the halls, waiting for a man who will never return? Then, we dig into the unsettling local legend of the Headless Switchman—a railroad ghost said to haunt the tracks with a lantern in hand and no head on his shoulders. This spectral figure has been seen since at least 1975, with reports as recent as 2001. Why are railroad ghosts fading from memory across the country… but still so active in Centre County? And of course, we wrap things up with a visit to a local Pennsylvania pizza spot—because ghosts and a proper slice go hand in hand. From Meadville to the Movies: The Haunted Legend of Pig Hill with R.A. Mihailoff and Ted Watts Jr.
Episode 45: Slice of the Paranormal has gotten exclusive access to the upcoming horror movie Pig Hill — based on a haunted site we investigated back in Episode 32! While visiting the infamous Pennhurst Asylum, Christy and Steven met horror icon R.A. Mihailoff (best known as Leatherface in Texas Chainsaw Massacre III). They discussed the chilling dark lore of Crawford County’s notorious Pig Hill — a haunted landscape shrouded in local legend. R.A., who has starred in cult horror classics like Hatchet II, Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings, and Death House, has teamed up with fellow Crawford County native Ted Watts Jr. (Last Flag Flying, The Clog, Pig Hill). Together, they’ve brought this terrifying urban legend to the big screen. Inspired by Nancy Williams’ book Pig Hill, the film blends real Pennsylvania folklore, a local radio tower hill, and the chilling tales of Meadville into a nightmare come alive for horror fans everywhere. In this episode, we dive into the making of Pig Hill, the eerie history behind the legend, and how small-town ghost stories can transform into national horror cinema. If you love paranormal investigations, haunted Pennsylvania stories, and behind-the-scenes horror movie insights, this episode is for you.
