Go all in to Let go - Trauma Healing Insights
Cami Birdno is a Trauma Informed Embodiment Coach. As a survivor herself, she has learned that since trauma is stored in the body, it can't be healed through mindset alone, and so she includes many different forms of embodiment work in healing. Ever caught yourself saying something just to smooth things over—then walked away feeling small, tight, or ashamed? In this episode, I share how I recognized a fawn response in real time, how my breath helped me reconnect, and what it means to reclaim our truth after self-abandoning. Healing from trauma doesn’t mean we never fawn again. It means we learn to notice when we do, breathe into the fear, and slowly find our way back to ourselves. I explore how past trauma can resurface and how it manifests as anger, control, or defensiveness. I share a personal year long journey with my hair, examining a visceral reaction tied to a memory of my father's criticism. Through somatic tools, mindfulness, and compassionate self-dialogue, I share how I was able to release the fight for control that came as a visceral response and transform these reactions into empowerment and choice. 23. Safety 1st - Before, the River of Misery
Things are seeming to get worse.... Is this a thought you've had during your healing journey? The River of Misery is a tool we offer to our mind when this comes up. It makes sense that as we start to change, rewire our brain and offer ourselves new reframes that the parts of us that are used to the way we do things will freak out a little or maybe a lot. And this is what the river of misery refers too. However, when we add trauma to the mix, sometimes it's not safe yet in our body to step even one foot into that river. If you have tried to push through the hard and everything in you screams out to stop, you can't seem to make any progress, or you start ok and then fell pushed back to shore, it could be because your body needs some safety first. I invte you to take a listen and see if any of this resonates. 22. Resiliency Means What Again?

22. Resiliency Means What Again?
Resiliency is a common word we hear when we start to heal our trauma. And it's one that I always forgot the meaning of. Does that happen to you? You hear a word, it makes sense and then when you hear it again, you don't understand how it applies to you or your trauma healing? Today, I share a little about my journey with this word and the different phases I see myself and my clients going through in the space of resiliency during our trauma healing. A basic definition of resiliency means being able to 1- feel sensations & emotions in our body, 2- let them come up, and 3- trust and know that we can come back to a regulated safe place in our body once again. So when we are resilient, we are able to feel our stuff, our body, trust it’s ok and be able to regulate within our nervous system again. I invite you to listen and see what phases of resiliency you have expereinced in your journey to heal trauma. 20. Day 2 of My 3 Day Challenge for Get Into Your Body
The first week in March I did a 3 day challenge and invited people to join me for a Get Into Your Body for 30 minutes each day series. It was so much fun! And so I wanted to share some of it here on the podcast. Today I share what we did for Day 2. We focused on releasing stress or tension in our chests. The practices I shared are some of my favorites. They are ways to offer ourselves acceptance of where we are, not seeking to change it, but acceptance of what our present moment expereince it. This can often give us some space to offer our body a chance to release, if it is ready to do so. I invite you to follow along with this episode and see what information your body might want to tell you as you pay attention to anything that might be happening in your chest. Enjoy! Why Add Somatic Experiencing
The ability to slow down, take one piece of trauma response or narrative at a time and gain tools that help us learn things about our trauma responses, while learning what safety and regulation feels like in our body benefits us so much in our healing. And along the way, we learn how to complete the trauma stress energy cycles in our body safely, so they are released and not a part of our current lives…. This is what somatic experiencing has done for me and my clients. Why Add Chakra Work
05/30/2023
Why Add Chakra Work
Chakra work is one of the tools, with many tools incorporated in it, that I use because it helps us learn so much about our body and, often from a bottom up first - meaning, we pay attention to what the cues are from our body and then incorporate the other steps. Top Down or mindset and Sideways which includes noticing whether we are being kind or judgy with how we are healing. In today’s episode, I will explain how some of how this works by sharing 5 ways chakra work is helpful in healing and how I apply those 5 ways to the 3 step approach I use. It's a way to offer an organic nonlinear flow as we heal. The 5 reasons I like to use chakra work are for 1-Energetic Balancing, 2-Emotional Release and Healing, 3-Self Awareness and Personal Growth, 4-Mind-body Connection, & 5-Spiritual Nourishment and Transcendence. 03/13/2023
Why Add Polyvagal Work
Today’s episode gives a basic overview of what Polyvagal theory is. I offer 4 ways it’s been helpful for me & my clients…. 1- Awarenes of what state our body is in 2- Once we have awareness, we can start implementing tools to move between states (which is referred to as moving up the polyvagal ladder) 3- Tools to get into ventral more often 4- Tools that rewire and heal ventral first and then dorsal and sympathetic Then I cover how and why polyvagal work tools and exercises help us shift, physically, within our body and nervous system, how we do things and think about things. You don’t have to stay in survival or on autopilot but can create within yourself the ability to have choice and control over how you rewire your nervous system and heal your trauma. Movement in Healing
If you have ever had the thought “My body is not my own,” then tune in to this episode. I discuss how powerful adding movement can be to our healing. And it doesn’t matter whether it be big, small or medium movement, what is powerful is the intentionality we have when moving. When we have trauma, we lose control over our movements. We lose our choice and we are often acted upon or forced by others. This is why our experience is traumatic. Join me as I discuss ways we can relcaim our body so that it is our own. I discuss gaining control over our movement, and why that movement helps to reclaim our bodies, reclaim our choices and become our own agents in our lives. All by adding some small, big, or medium movement to our healing journey.
