The Watsons: Stronger Together
Most of us are born into, marry into, or end up creating a messy family. The Watsons Stronger Together is a rare look at one that works, even when it doesn’t. Carlos, Beverly, and Carolyn Watson open up about adoption, success, loss, resilience, and even their battle with the U.S. government. Stress, Weight Gain, and Faith… Our Honest Health Talk
In this episode, we are talking about health in the realest sense. Not just physical health, but mental health, spiritual health, financial health, relationship health, and what happens when life hits hard and your whole body feels it. We get honest about a season that took a lot out of us, stress, poor sleep, weight changes, low energy, and trying to find our way back to feeling like ourselves again. We even rate where we are right now on the health journey, and let’s just say, we are being real, not performative. We talk about everything from running track, training for triathlons, weight gain during marriage and business stress, hypothyroidism, emotional eating, and even surviving serious car accidents. But this is not just about struggle, it is also about healing, resilience, and what post-traumatic growth can look like when you do not give up on yourself. We also talk about what helped carry us, faith, prayer, the example our mother gave us, and the reminder that even in the middle of illness and exhaustion, there can still be purpose, joy, and love. And yes, we get practical too, with tools that have helped us, like deep breathing, consistency, supportive people around us, and even Mel Robbins’ countdown method for getting moving when you really do not feel like it. This is a warm, honest family conversation about wellness, healthy habits, stress, healing, and learning how to get stronger together, one small step at a time. Come on in and sit with us. _____________ The Watsons: Stronger Together invites you to pull up a chair at the family table. No scripts, no filters. How to Prepare for Life’s Storms: Lessons in Resilience, Family, and Justice

How to Prepare for Life’s Storms: Lessons in Resilience, Family, and Justice
Hey, it’s Carlos, Beverly, and Carolyn from Watsons: Stronger Together. We’ve been through some of life’s hardest storms: loss, rejection, relationship breakups, business crises, legal battles, you name it. Trust us, we know the weight of it all. Carlos opens up about building Ozy, turning down a $300M offer from BuzzFeed, and facing a brutal smear campaign, investigation, and arrest. After years of fighting, President Trump granted him clemency, but it wasn’t easy. We’ve learned a lot from those tough times. In this episode, we’re talking about how to navigate your own storms. From the importance of building a strong support circle (but knowing not all help is good help) to asking for prayer and practical support, we get real about what works and what doesn’t. We also dive into why rest and sleep are crucial for making clear decisions, how movement can help you process anxiety, and the power of talking openly to reduce shame. We talk about how hardship is just one chapter, not the whole book, and how we’ve learned to get second opinions and do our own research, not just rely on experts. Through it all, we remember the strength of our ancestors, the power of family teamwork, and how we’ve got to be prepared for the next storm. Tune in to this heartfelt conversation and let us know how you’ve navigated your own storms because we’re all in this together. _____________ The Watsons: Stronger Together invites you to pull up a chair at the family table. From Jamaica to America, 3 Brothers Built Our Legacy
In this episode, we are talking about where we come from, and the people whose sacrifices made our family what it is today. We reflect on our Jamaican roots and the legacy of Marksman Alexander Watson, who left the Jamaican countryside, traveled to Panama and Cuba, and helped set in motion a journey that would shape generations to come. From there, our family’s story carried into Paynesville, Ohio, where new opportunities, hard work, and a whole lot of faith helped build the foundation. We talk about the different paths of three brothers, Dunbar, Lloyd, and Carlos, and the choices, sacrifices, and support that tied them together. From cycling and military service to medical school, careers, and stepping in for one another when it mattered most, this is a conversation about brotherhood in the real sense of the word. At the center of it is Dunbar, our father, and the life he built through service, discipline, and care for family. We talk about his 40 year career as a chemical analyst, his move to Texas to care for his wife through her battle with multiple sclerosis, and what it meant for him to raise five children after her passing. We also look at the role church, the NAACP, and community leadership played in shaping the man he became. This conversation is about legacy, identity, sacrifice, and love. It is about being Jamaican, being Black American, being family, and understanding that none of us gets here alone. And yes, we also take a moment to honor Dunbar as a patriarch, while passing a new patriarch gift to Carlos, with all the love, laughter, and family energy that comes with it. Wrongfully Convicted, How Our Family Survived the “Hurricane”

Wrongfully Convicted, How Our Family Survived the “Hurricane”
In this episode, we sat down as family and talked about what those years really felt like for us. We called it a hurricane, a nightmare, because that is exactly what it was. Watching Carlos and the company be attacked, put on trial, and wrongfully convicted shook all of us to the core. There was fear, disbelief, and this deep feeling that the system was not playing fair. We talked about what we saw and what we lived through, the courtroom moments that felt deeply wrong, defense witnesses and evidence being blocked, jury instructions changing, and a judge who seemed to be helping the prosecution while carrying conflicts we did not know about at the time. For us, it was not just painful, it was infuriating. But we also talked about what held us up. Prayer. Community. Petitions. Protests. People showing up for us. Even in prison, there were moments of connection, mentoring, and humanity that reminded us that darkness does not get the final word. Through all of it, we kept coming back to the same truth, God always wins. This conversation is also about something bigger than our family. It made us think about the people who go through this without support, without resources, without somebody calling, praying, visiting, fighting, and standing beside them. It made us ask what happens to the children, what happens to the families, what happens to the people nobody sees. And in a lot of ways, this is part of why we are here now. Why we started building what we are building. Why we believe so deeply in creating space for hope, joy, truth, and voices that do not always get heard. _____________ The Watsons: Stronger Together invites you to pull up a chair at the family table. Caregiver Burnout Is Real, How We Care for Our 91-Year-Old Dad With Dementia
In this episode of The Watsons: Stronger Together, we are talking about something a lot of families are living through, caring for an aging parent, while still trying to love them well, keep them safe, and keep your sanity. We sit down as siblings to share what it has been like caring for our 91 year old father, a charismatic former teacher with a big personality, and now, the very real challenges of dementia. We talk about the hard parts people do not always say out loud, hoarding, sleep issues, vulnerability to scams, and the emotional whiplash of seeing someone you love change in front of you. We also reflect on how we were raised, two loving, community minded parents, not a lot of money, and a lot of faith, and how the “do not air dirty laundry” mindset can make caregiving feel even heavier. We debate the question so many families wrestle with, can you expect real behaviour change when cognitive decline is part of the picture, and what do you do when safety has to come first. We share what has helped us most so far, moving him closer into assisted living, adult day care, caregiver support, church, physical therapy, and staying connected to community. We even get into caregiving across cultures, the cost of care, and some future looking ideas like tech support and capturing family stories. If you are a caregiver, or love someone who is, pull up a chair. And please share your best caregiving strategies in the comments, especially how you find breaks and support, because nobody should do this part alone. _____________ The Watsons: Stronger Together invites you to pull up a chair at the family table. What Every Parent Raising Black Boys Needs To Know | Gentle Parenting vs Tough Parenting
In this episode of The Watsons Stronger Together, Carlos, Beverly, and Carolyn Watson talk candidly about co-parenting three-and-a-half-year-old Malachi and what it looks like to handle conflict as siblings shaped by experiences like death, divorce, adoption, fertility and infertility, and legal challenges. Beverly and Carolyn describe their love-based, present, and nurturing parenting style, while Carlos pushes back that they may be too soft—arguing that as a young Black boy in the Bay Area, Malachi needs to be tough, prepared for unfairness, and intentional about how emotions like crying are expressed. The family debates discipline, bedtime boundaries, and the “no crying” message, with Carolyn (a psychologist) emphasizing the importance of emotional connection and healthy expression. They also discuss a museum incident where Malachi was singled out for running while other children weren’t corrected, reinforcing their concerns about bias. The conversation connects back to their parents’ intentional approach, including their mother’s memoir Purposeful Parenting, which they recommend as a practical guide rooted in love and refusing to surrender a family’s vision to the system’s vision. _____________ The Watsons: Stronger Together invites you to pull up a chair at the family table. Why Adoption Can Be Both Loss and Miracle | Our Family’s Divine Journey
Welcome back to The Watsons: Stronger Together. In this episode, Carlos, Beverly, and Carolyn Watson sit down for a real family conversation about Bev’s journey to motherhood through domestic private adoption. We talk about the years of considering adoption, the two-year process, and how much community support mattered every step of the way. Bev also shares the part people do not always say out loud, adoption often begins with loss. From a disrupted placement early on, to the moment Carlito came into our lives in November 2021, we reflect on faith, resilience, and what it looks like to grow a family with honesty and love. We also get practical about open adoption, telling your child their story early, the realities and cost of private adoption, foster care versus private adoption, and the racial dynamics families may face along the way. If you are considering adoption, parenting solo, or building a family in a non-traditional way, pull up a chair. If you could sit down with your younger self – before the heartbreaks, the missed chances, the storms you never saw coming – what would you say? In this episode of The Watsons Stronger Together, Carlos, Beverly, and Carolyn reflect on the advice they wish they had taken, the chances they didn’t take, and the truths that only time and pain can teach. Is Leaving the U.S. the Answer? A Family’s Tough Conversation
What happens when staying in the U.S. starts to feel riskier than leaving? In this episode of The Watsons Stronger Together, the Watsons wrestle with a question more people in America are quietly asking themselves: Should we leave the country? Sparked by recent upheaval, global travel, remote work, and concerns about safety, justice, and belonging, the conversation ranges from Portugal to Thailand, Ghana to Jamaica. They debate raising children bilingually, building community abroad, the pull of home, and the responsibility to stay and fight for change versus the freedom to start anew. This is not a travel fantasy – it’s a deeply personal reckoning about identity, protection, purpose, and what it really means to live, thrive, and love. _____________ The Watsons: Stronger Together invites you to pull up a chair at the family table.
