Hyacinths for the Soul
This is a collection of ponderings focused on looking at life through the spiritual lens of a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This podcast primarily features essays from our dear mother, Kathy Wagher, who was considered by all who met her, to be a most amazing teacher--both in the public classroom and in church. Every week she challenged her fifth graders to memorize short poems. Decades later, many of her students can still recite this one... "If thou of fortune be bereft, and in thy store there be but left two loaves, sell one, and with the dole, buy hyacinths to feed thy soul." Here's what Kathy shared about herself before she passed... "I am a wife, mother, grandmother, and retired teacher. My husband and I are what I like to call raggedy old converts. We didn't grow up in the light. In fact, sometimes it got so dark that is was hard to see clearly. But then, many years ago, when we were newlyweds and really still kids ourselves, two young missionaries came knocking on our door...and...well, you know the rest. It's been line upon line ever since."
