S3 | 18. From Selling “Problem Horses” to Soul Partnerships: A Dressage Rider’s Transformation
In this episode, I’m joined again by my beautiful client Carola and this conversation goes deep. Carola came from a traditional dressage background. She's a certified instructor. She followed the rules. She chased the ribbons. And when things got hard with her horses? She sold them. Until she met Queeny. What followed was not just a horsemanship shift but a complete identity shift. Inside this episode, we talk about: Her mare who wouldn’t come to the gate… now she waits for her! From riding on the bit under pressure → to bitless and bareback pad fun plus joy-filled trail rides The “macho” gelding she admits she didn’t like in the beginning - and what changed when she realised he was scared and actually so so sweet deep down Her sensitive young horse who needed patience, not force Trailer loading shifts (from shutdown to self-loading with one finger) Supporting horses when they get tipped over threshold (hello spooky sheep!) Beyond the horse transformations, we explore the deeper layer: Frustration. External validation. Never feeling “good enough.” Being a high-achieving, analytical professional… who was deeply intuitive but afraid to own it. And how that shifted into: Peace. Self-trust. Patience. Expansion. “I am enough.” This is a real-life look at what happens when you stop trying to fix your horses - and start transforming yourself. If you’ve ever felt frustrated, confused, or like you “should” be further along… this conversation will meet you exactly where you are. And if you’re curious about The Field, this episode gives you an honest, grounded glimpse into what’s possible - not just in the arena, but in every area of your life. Resources & Next Steps If you’d like to explore further: — hear conversations with past clients sharing about their journey with their horses through The Field or CEP (the former iteration of The Field). You can hear more about Carola's journey in Season 3 episode 14 of the podcast. - Whether your horse is spooky, tense, young, or naturally quiet, this free checklist will help you set both yourself and your horse up for success from the ground up. — The Field is a 12-week practical + intuitive horsemanship mentorship experience for compassionate equestrians who want grounded tools, emotional support and a clear plan to help both themselves and their horses feel calmer, more confident and deeply understood. ✨ Connect with Carola: ✨ Connect with me: You've got this, Felicity

S3 | 17. Cultivating Confidence & Connection: The 5 Layers That Change Everything
Confidence isn’t something you force, it isn’t something you fake and it definitely isn’t something you earn by pushing through fear. In this episode, I’m breaking down what actually builds confidence - for both you and your horse - and why safety, clarity, and connection are the real foundations for trusting partnership. If you’ve ever: Second-guessed yourself on the ground or in the saddle Felt confident at home but wobbly in new environments Watched your horse freeze, balk, react, or shut down Tried to “just be braver” but felt your body resist This conversation will shift how you see confidence entirely. Inside this episode, I walk you through the 5-layer confidence framework I use with my clients: Cultivating a foundation of safety (internally and externally) Understanding the principles behind behavior and communication Building connection from the ground up Gentle, consent-based exposure training (not flooding) Inner alchemy and learning how to expand your capacity without overriding yourself You’ll learn why confusion, pain, and fear erode confidence... and how to work with your nervous system (and your horse’s) instead of against it. Confidence becomes a byproduct when your foundation is stable enough to hold you. S3 | 16. Your Horse As Your Mirror: Why It Feels Harder With Your Horse (and What That’s Inviting)
Have you ever wondered why your horse seems calm and cooperative for other people... but feels reactive, inconsistent, or emotionally intense with you? Why some days feel connected and beautiful… and other days feel confusing, confronting, or heavy...even when you feel like you're showing up in the same way? In this episode, I speak directly to the experience many compassionate equestrians quietly navigate: feeling deeply connected to their horse, yet struggling to feel ease or flow taking their horse’s behaviour personally, even when they “know better” finding it easier to work with other people’s horses than their own sensing that something meaningful is unfolding, but not knowing how to navigate it We explore what it really means when your horse acts as your mirror - not from a place of blame or self-fixing, but through nervous system awareness, emotional congruence, and relationship. This conversation is an invitation to soften self-judgment, understand the deeper patterns at play, and recognise why awareness alone doesn’t always resolve what’s repeating. 🐎 And for those ready to integrate this work more deeply, I also share about The Field - a 3-month mentorship experience for equestrians who know this work can’t be rushed and needs the right container to unwind. S3 | 15. When Self-Trust Begins to Return (A Field Group Conversation)
This episode was originally recorded in mid-2025 during a live round of The Field. I’m resharing it now as part of Season 3, with the full permission of the women who shared so openly, as their stories speak directly to the themes we’ve been exploring around nervous system safety, self-trust, and receiving support. In this conversation, I’m joined by four women - Jenna, Bianca, Gemma, and Tina - who had just completed a 12-week journey inside The Field, a small-group mentorship experience for compassionate equestrians navigating change with their horses and themselves. This is not a polished highlight reel or a dramatic “before and after.” It’s an honest, vulnerable snapshot of women in the work - navigating grief, self-doubt, fear, identity shifts, healing, and reconnection - while being witnessed, supported, and met exactly where they are. Across this conversation, we explore: what happens when you stop trying to fix yourself or your horse the fear of joining group spaces and what changes when safety is prioritised rebuilding trust after heartbreak, trauma, or loss moving from pressure and urgency into softness and self-permission the difference between knowing what to do and being able to embody it how horses reflect our inner world without judgement learning to trust your intuition instead of outsourcing your authority why integration, not intensity, creates lasting change You’ll hear stories of: stepping away from traditional, performance-driven approaches navigating injury, rehab, and unexpected pauses releasing the “good girl” conditioning and perfectionism discovering that you don’t need to be healed to experience joy building confidence without forcing outcomes and the quiet transformation that happens when you finally stop doing this alone Resources & Next Steps If you’d like to explore further: — hear more conversations with past clients sharing about their journey with their horses - Whether your horse is spooky, tense, young, or naturally quiet, this free checklist will help you set both yourself and your horse up for success from the ground up. — The Field is a 12-week practical + intuitive horsemanship mentorship experience for compassionate equestrians who want grounded tools, emotional support and a clear plan to help both themselves and their horses feel calmer, more confident and deeply understood. This episode was originally recorded in mid-2025 after a live round of The Field. I’m resharing it now as part of Season 3, with the full permission from the women who shared so openly, as the reflections in this conversation feel deeply aligned with the themes we’ve been exploring recently. In this episode, I’m joined by three women - Carola, Maryline, and Natalie - who had just completed a 12-week journey inside The Field, a small-group mentorship experience for compassionate equestrians. This is an honest, unfiltered conversation about what actually happens when you stop trying to fix yourself, stop doing everything alone, and allow yourself to be supported - even (and especially) when life is tender. Together, we explore: navigating self-doubt, grief, fear, and emotional overwhelm learning to trust your intuition instead of copying others how pressure and urgency soften when safety is prioritised the difference between knowing what to do and being able to embody it how relationships with horses shift when your relationship with yourself changes being witnessed in grief, uncertainty, joy, and growth - without needing to perform why integration, not intensity, creates lasting change You’ll hear about: stepping away from traditional and performance-driven approaches rebuilding trust after heartbreak and loss allowing emotions to move without needing to fix them discovering that you don’t need to be healed to experience joy and the quiet but powerful confidence that emerges when you feel safe to be where you are This isn’t a polished “before and after” story. It’s a real snapshot of women in the work - moving through the messy middle with honesty, compassion, and support. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by information, unsure who to trust, afraid of community, or exhausted from trying to do it all on your own, this episode is a reminder that nothing is wrong with you...and that another way is possible. S3 | 13. Before the Next Chapter: Supporting the Human Nervous System Through Transitions
Have you ever felt a new chapter approaching… but sensed that something needed to be tended to first? In this episode, we explore why transitions (even the ones we want) can feel disorienting, exhausting, or hard to move through, especially after long seasons of vigilance, rehab, grief, burnout, or survival mode. You’ll hear why slowing down isn’t always accessible when your nervous system has learned safety through doing, fixing, or staying alert - and why this isn’t a mindset problem, but a capacity one. We’ll explore: why your nervous system may be asking to “catch up” before you move forward how hypervigilance and fixing can become protective habits the role of the soul, heart, body, and mind during periods of change why resistance doesn’t mean you’re off track - it often contains the medicine what it actually looks like to tend your nervous system through transitions This episode isn’t about forcing yourself to be calm or pushing through. It’s about learning how to meet change without bracing... and understanding why support and co-regulation matter during these chapters. If you’re standing at the edge of something new and wondering how to move forward without overriding yourself, this conversation is for you. ✨ Looking for deeper support? S3 | 12. Trainers, Online Learning & Clinics: How to Choose the Right Support for You and Your Horse
Have you ever tried everything - trainers, lessons, clinics, online programs - and still felt like something wasn’t clicking with your horse? In this episode, I explore the different support options available in the equestrian world and why so many thoughtful, caring equestrians end up feeling confused, stuck, or doubting themselves… even when they’re doing all the “right” things. We talk about: The pros and limitations of trainers, in-person lessons, clinics, and online learning Why fragmented support often creates more confusion, not confidence How nervous system safety (for both horse and human) is often the missing piece The quiet cost of cycling through support that doesn’t truly fit The questions that help you discern what kind of support will actually work for you This episode is especially for sensitive, reflective equestrians who don’t want to force their horse - or themselves - through what doesn't feel right for them and who are craving clarity, coherence, and a more compassionate way forward. ✨ Looking for deeper support? S3 | 11. The Fight Response in Horses: When Your Horse Pushes Back
If your horse isn’t spooky…and they’re not shutdown…but they do push back - this episode is for you. Fight responses in horses are often misunderstood. They can show up as nipping, pinned ears, tail swishing, big reactions (like kicking, rearing, bucking etc.), or behaviours that get labelled as “dominant”, “pushy”, or “opinionated”. And when this is your horse, it can leave you feeling confused, judged by others, and second-guessing yourself - especially when you know there’s more going on beneath the behaviour. Fight responses aren’t bad behaviour. They’re a nervous system response...one that often shows up when a horse still has agency, expression, and a desire to stay in relationship… but doesn’t yet feel safe. In this episode, I explore: What the fight response actually is Why fight behaviours often get misunderstood How fight responses can emerge A real story with my horse, Lily Why this phase can feel so hard to hold as a human This episode isn’t about fixing behaviour. It’s about understanding what your horse is communicating and why fight responses ask for discernment, nuance, and support rather than quick answers. If you love a horse who pushes back…and you’ve ever felt like you’re missing something - this conversation will help you see the bigger picture. ✨ Want a grounded starting point? S3 | 10. You Create Your Reality: What Are You Choosing in 2026?
As we step into a new year, it can be tempting to declare a clean slate - to rush ahead with intentions, goals, and plans - without fully acknowledging the ground you’re standing on. In this episode, I invite you to slow down. Recorded live on the 1st of January, 2026, this is a reflective conversation about closing a 9-year cycle and consciously stepping into the beginning of a new one - not from “new year, new me” energy, but from integration, self-responsibility, and choice. We explore: what the past 9 years have been quietly shaping and teaching you why reflection is more powerful than starting from scratch the difference between feeling grateful and feeling truly satisfied how your horse may have been guiding you toward greater individuality and alignment why readiness isn’t a feeling...it’s a decision how slowing down can actually create momentum, clarity, and ease I also share my word for 2026 and how choosing a word for the year can illuminate both your growth edges and your deepest alignment. This isn’t about forcing change or setting unrealistic expectations. It’s about recognising that you create your reality - through the lens you choose, the stories you tell, and the actions you take - and asking yourself, with honesty and compassion: What am I choosing in 2026? ✨ Looking to connect? S3 | 9. End of Year Reflection: What the Year of the Snake Asked You to Shed (and What Wants to Stay)
As we come to the end of the year, it can be tempting to rush ahead... to plan, reset, or “do things differently” without fully acknowledging what this year has already shaped within us. In this episode, I invite you to pause. We reflect on the energy of the Year of the Snake - a year that has asked many of us to shed old skins, release outdated patterns, and recalibrate in ways that haven’t always been comfortable or visible. Together, we explore: what this year has quietly invited you to let go of what foundations you’ve actually built (even if it didn’t feel like it at the time) how your horse may have been guiding you through these shifts why you don’t need to discard this year in order to move forward This isn’t about fixing, forcing, or rushing into the next chapter. It’s about honouring what’s been integrated, being gentle with what’s still unfolding, and stepping into the new year from a grounded, empowered foundation - not from burnout or self-judgement. ✨ Looking to connect? S3 | 8. How to Keep Progressing with Your Horse When Time, Weather & Energy Are Limited
There are seasons where you deeply care about your horse and desire to continue to develop your connection... but your time, energy, or the environment you’re working in are genuinely limited. In this episode, I talk about how to stay connected and keep progressing with your horse during these periods - without pushing, forcing, or falling into the all-or-nothing cycle that so many compassionate equestrians find themselves in. We explore: why dips in capacity are normal (for both horses and humans) how progress doesn’t always look like doing more what actually erodes confidence and trust over time and why so many people feel stuck, not because they’re doing nothing - but because they haven't developed their eye to spot where the gaps are and what would be the best use of their time This is a reflective, grounding episode designed to help you work with the season you’re in, rather than fighting against it. I also share how my Prepare Your Horse for Any Environment checklist can be used - not as a to-do list - but as a way to observe what is solid and what is missing in your foundation with your horse. If you’re navigating summer heat, winter weather, shorter sessions, low energy, or a phase where consistency feels harder to maintain, this episode will help you re-orient without losing connection. ✨ Download the free checklist here ✨ Want deeper support? S3 | 7. Shutdown Horses Explained: Why They Close Off and How to Help
If your horse seems “quiet”… but something feels off... this episode is for you. Shutdown horses often look calm, obedient, or easy… yet on the inside there is a different story at play. They may feel disconnected, disinterested, flat, or robotic... or go from calm to explosive without warning. And while these signs can be subtle, they matter. Shutdown behaviours arent laziness or compliance. It’s a nervous system response asking for support. In this episode, I break down: The real signs of shutdown: Freeze responses, “lights on no one home”, obedience without connection, quietness masking overwhelm, sudden explosions, apearing "fine" but feeling off Why shutdown responses: How horses enter freeze when earlier attempts at communication weren’t understood… why this isn’t a training issue but feedback… and how past experiences and pressure-based environments shape shutdown tendencies. Why recognising shutdown behaviours is important: For deeper connection, a stronger relationship, more natural motivation - and most importantly, safety. How to help your horse open back up: The 5 foundations I use with shutdown, spooky, reactive, and sensitive horses. The inner skills you’ll need along the way: Patience, attunement, emotional awareness, intuitive listening, letting go of pressure and timelines, and reinforcing the behaviours you do want. Plus, I share transformation stories (Shorty + Ella) that illustrate what’s possible when a shutdown horse finally feels safe to feel again, and how quickly connection, softness, and engagement return. If you’ve ever felt like your horse is here with you… but not really with you... this episode will help you understand why, and what steps to take next. ✨ FREE RESOURCE: To get started with a clear plan, download my checklist - it’s the exact foundation I use with all horses to build confidence step by step. ✨ Want deeper support? If you ever feel something in your body around your horse and find yourself wondering, “Is this fear… or is this my intuition?” this episode will bring you so much clarity. Many compassionate horsewomen feel torn between wanting to move forward and feeling paralysed by indecision, unsure whether the sensation they’re experiencing is a warning or a gentle nudge. When you don’t trust your inner guidance, every next step with your horse can feel overwhelming. In this episode, I explain the deeper emotional and somatic difference between fear and intuition, why both can show up at the same time, and why so many riders have been conditioned to override or outsource their internal signals. You’ll learn how to listen to yourself with more confidence, compassion, and ease - so you can make clear, grounded decisions in your horsemanship and life. You’ll explore: 🌙 The difference between fear sensations and intuitive messages 💛 Why they often rise together and create mixed signals 🐴 How to tune into your body so you know when to slow down, pivot, or take the next step 🌀 How to rebuild self-trust using past experiences and somatic awareness I’ll also guide you through simple practices to recognise your intuitive yes and no, reflect on aligned vs. misaligned decisions, and begin connecting with the version of you who already feels grounded, confident, and clear. If you’ve been carrying guilt connected to your horse...whether from past training choices, accidents, injuries, their transition, moments you wish you handled differently, or simply not being able to give them the care you wanted to - this episode will bring so much relief and softness. Guilt is something many compassionate horsewomen hold quietly and heavily. In this episode, I explain why guilt forms (and why it has nothing to do with you being a “bad” person), how guilt is really care wrapped in shame, and how to begin softening it into grace so you can show up with more presence, compassion, and connection. I also share my own experience with Bruce and the healing that unfolded on the other side of self-blame. So many compassionate horsewomen find themselves overwhelmed by information, stuck in loops of second-guessing, and unsure which direction to take next. S3 | 1. The Bravery Myth: Why Pushing Through Fear Breaks Trust With Your Horse (and What Real Courage Looks Like)
If you’ve ever been told to “just get back on” after a fall, to “be braver” when you feel afraid, or to “push your horse through it,” this episode will feel like a breath of relief. So many compassionate riders have been taught that courage means overriding their fear... but this conditioning often disconnects you from your intuition, your horse, and your sense of safety. In this episode, I unpack The Bravery Myth - the belief that forcing yourself or your horse through fear creates confidence. You’ll learn why pressure-based bravery actually breaks trust, how it impacts sensitive horses and riders, and what true confidence-building really looks like when we understand the nervous system, emotional safety, and co-regulation. Inside the episode, you’ll explore: 🐴 Why pushing through fear disconnects both horses and humans 🌿 How nervous system awareness builds real, lasting confidence 💫 Practical steps to rebuild safety, clarity, and communication ✨ The difference between performative bravery and authentic leadership Whether you’re a returning rider, a compassionate trainer, or simply longing to feel calm, connected, and safe with your horse again, this episode will help you release guilt, trust your intuition, and redefine what real courage looks like in horsemanship. ✨ Want deeper support? This is the kind of work we dive into inside , my 3-month horsemanship mentorship experience for compassionate equestrians who want clarity, confidence, and a safer, more connected partnership with their horse. If you’re ready for a guided pathway and personalised support, you can learn more . ✨ Connect with me: You've got this, Felicity

They all joined for different reasons and had different experiences yet as you will hear, their core values remain the same. The field is currently open for enrolment. Explore all the details and apply here - Jenna joined the field to get back into riding vs solely caretaking. What unfolded was a deeply healing journey that amplified her self-trust. Bianca realised her horse was mirroring so much back to her. Through the field, she softened, listened, and let her horse guide the way - taking their relationship to a whole new level. Gemma joined the field to deepen her connection with her mare Freya - and they’ve gone from strength to strength, even playing at liberty with what she calls “energy circling.” Tina was caught in a cycle of trying to fix her mare and constantly second-guessing herself. "I've always felt like when we can go into the spaces that we don't often share with others, that's really where we're going to find the gems, the truth. I feel like the horses of course lead us in this. I would always say that I'm like an edge walker. So when people come and spend time with me, we're probably going to sort of veer off course to the edge because that's for me that's where the juice is, you know, that's where we're going to really get to the, the meat of whatever it is, who we are, why we're here, what we're passionate about, what, what matters to us. That's my biggest passion is like helping guide people there, spending time with people there, helping them to feel comfortable there, and then seeing what happens when we sit, when we hang out there." - Chloe Elgar Connect with Chloe: Connect with me:
