Mapping the Self™
Know thyself was carved into stone at the entrance of Apollo’s temple at Delphi in Ancient Greece. Scholars, philosophers, and poets have debated the questions of what it is to know yourself for thousands of years. I invite you to join me for conversations with artists, creators, scholars, spiritual teachers and writers of all walks of life to discuss the big questions; to engage with what it is to live fully, to map ourselves, know ourselves, to grow our compassion and listening and explore our greatest possibilities.

You can find Elena's work at You can find out more about Katonah Yoga™ at And to connect with The Studio and Abbie Galvin visit A note on this episode: Since the recording of this episode I have learned neuroscience no longer speaks of the limbic brain and the frontal cortex as being the "reptilian brain" and they are finding that emotion is far more complex than we once thought. The amygdala is no longer considered to be the "fear center" for example but is only partially and sometimes involved in the emotion of fear. I do however still find the "lizard and wizard" a useful metaphor for the tensions and types of experiences that can arise interoceptively when we're at our best and when we're in states that are not always helpful.
