The Benefits & Blessings of Knowing God (Part 1)
In today’s episode, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches begins a new series and delves into the benefits and blessings of knowing God. Dr. Funches picks up where she left off in the last episode, recapping a bit from last week and then diving deeper into these truths. To know God is to know His Word. The benefits and blessings of knowing God are the benefits and blessings of knowing Jesus because Jesus is the Word. Dr. Funches encourages you to listen to the messages from the previous weeks. Dr. Funches says God is using those messages to teach us how to inherit our inheritance. When God blesses one, He blesses all through that gift. Others also need to see your sign and your miracle. It is God’s will to teach us all these things. Now is the time to receive those benefits and blessings by faith in the Living God who has done it all for you, already. We don’t want to delay our destiny. God says to be anxious for nothing. Dr. Funches explains Psalm 1:1–3 to apply it to New Covenant believers, contrasting prosperity in God against the greed for money. Dr. Funches covers the connections between knowing God and Jesus, knowing the Word and the truth, and being free. We learn in 1 Samuel 1 that God answers our desires and in John 15:5,7 that those who abide in the Word, Jesus, bear much fruit and they will have the desires they ask of Him. Please listen as Dr. Funches examines the benefits and blessings of knowing God through His Word. Selfishness is a Setup (Part 8)
In this episode of The One Thing That’s Needful Podcast, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches-Dunham concludes the series “Selfishness is a Setup” by teaching that love is meant to give, even in hard seasons. Drawing from John 3:16, she emphasizes that God’s love is active, generous, and self-sacrificing, and that believers are called to reflect that same unselfishness in their lives. The heart of the message is the life of Joseph, whose story becomes a powerful picture of Christ and a testimony of what it looks like to keep sowing good in the middle of betrayal, injustice, and suffering. Though Joseph is hated by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned, he keeps serving with excellence and remains faithful to God. Dr. Funches-Dunham highlights that Joseph had every natural reason to become bitter or self-focused, yet he continued to walk in love and trust God. She points to the repeated theme that the Lord was with Joseph, making him successful even in slavery and prison, and using every setback as part of a greater plan. The episode closes with Joseph’s restoration: his gift makes room for him before Pharaoh, he rises to authority, his family is eventually reunited, and his life shows that generosity and obedience can lead to unexpected breakthrough. The message leaves listeners with a strong reminder that selfishness is a trap, but sowing love, faith, and service can lead to lasting fruit and divine elevation. 00:00 Podcast Welcome 01:16 Opening Prayer 02:34 Series Recap 03:05 Love Gives 05:23 Selfishness Trap 08:54 Ways To Sow 09:50 Joseph Introduction 11:57 Dreams And Favoritism 15:04 Betrayal And Pit 19:08 Egyptian Slavery 23:14 False Accusation 25:47 Prison Promotion 28:19 Pharaoh Dream Breakthrough 30:56 Reaping And Restoration 32:01 Final Encouragement 32:38 Closing Outro

Selfishness Is a Setup (Part 7)
In this episode of The One Thing That’s Needful Podcast, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches-Dunham continues her series, “Selfishness Is a Setup,” with a strong reminder that love is unselfish and that God designed reaping and sowing as a spiritual law. The message centers on the idea that selfishness keeps believers stuck in their own pain, while love moves outward in faith and trust in God’s provision. Using the Book of Ruth, she shows how Elimelek’s decision to flee Bethlehem in fear led to loss, while Ruth chose loyalty, sacrifice, and generosity even after deep personal grief. Ruth’s commitment to Naomi and her willingness to glean in the fields become the picture of someone who keeps sowing love instead of retreating into self-focus. That unselfishness is rewarded when Ruth finds favor with Boaz, who protects her, provides for her, and recognizes her faithfulness. Dr. Funches-Dunham emphasizes that Ruth’s harvest came because she kept sowing through hardship, proving that God honors those who trust Him and continue doing good even when life feels painful or unfair. The episode closes with a call to keep sowing, keep trusting, and refuse the trap of self-absorption. Ruth’s story becomes a testimony that love gives, faith moves, and God can turn faithful obedience into blessing, restoration, and even legacy. Selfishness Is a Setup (Part 6)
In this episode of The One Thing That’s Needful Podcast, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches-Dunnom continues her teaching on why selfishness is a trap that keeps believers from walking in the fullness of God’s design. She emphasizes that love is not selfish but gives, and that Christians are called to reflect Christ by serving others, sowing seeds, and trusting God to multiply what is given. The message is rooted in the truth that what we do for others is never wasted, because in God’s kingdom generosity always comes back in greater measure. To illustrate that principle, she revisits the story of Mordecai and Esther, showing how one act of faithfulness and generosity helped position an entire nation for deliverance. Mordecai’s decision to save the king’s life, even after personal loss and hardship, later became part of God’s larger rescue plan for the Jews when Haman’s plot was reversed. The lesson is that unselfish obedience can have consequences far beyond what we can see in the moment. She then turns to the story of the Shunammite woman in 2 Kings 4, who repeatedly blessed Elisha with food and even made a room for him in her home. Her generosity came from a sincere heart, and God honored it by giving her the son she had long desired. But when tragedy struck and the child died, she refused to speak defeat and went back to the same prophet, declaring, “It is well,” showing the power of guarding your confession in crisis. The episode closes with a strong reminder that the ground you sow on matters, and that believers should keep giving even when they are in need themselves. The Shunammite woman’s seed of hospitality became the channel for a miracle, and her faith in God was restored through the raising of her son. Dr. Funches-Dunnom leaves listeners with the encouragement that love gives, selfishness destroys, and God can turn faithful giving into lasting testimony. 00:00 Podcast Welcome 01:16 Series Setup Prayer 03:32 Love Gives Not Selfish 05:34 Study Word Stir Desire 08:11 One Body Reap Sow 10:30 Esther Mordecai Recap 17:49 Second Kings Shunammite 23:38 Seed and Soil Lesson 26:24 Resurrection It Is Well 32:27 Final Exhortation Outro

Selfishness Is a Setup (Part 5)
In this episode of The One Thing That’s Needful Podcast, Dr. Siobhaughn Funches-Dunham continues the series “Selfishness Is a Setup” with a message centered on how love gives, and how unselfishness positions believers to receive God’s best. She emphasizes that love is not just a feeling but an action, and that God’s pattern is to bless people so they can become a blessing to others. The teaching follows the story of Queen Esther, highlighting how God placed Esther strategically as queen after a season of loss and obscurity. Through Esther and Mordecai, the episode shows how God was already working ahead of the problem, using hidden faithfulness, courage, and sacrificial giving to prepare for a coming crisis. A major theme is the contrast between Mordecai and Haman: one sows a seed by saving the king’s life, while the other sows pride, hatred, and destruction. Dr. Funches-Dunham explains that Mordecai’s earlier act of unselfishness later became the very thing that saved him, Esther, and the Jewish people, proving that what we sow returns in kind. The episode closes with a strong reminder that selfishness can become a trap, but generosity and love open the door to protection, provision, and breakthrough. The message encourages listeners to trust God, keep giving, and believe that no act of faithful love is ever wasted. 00:00 Podcast Welcome 01:30 Prayer And Invitation 02:51 Series Recap Love Gives 05:49 Rebecca Quick Generosity 11:10 Esther Story Setup 15:50 Vashti Removed 18:21 Esther Crowned Queen 23:11 Mordecai Saves King 24:35 Haman Plot Exposed 28:05 Reaping And Sowing Lesson 30:32 Selfishness Is A Setup 31:59 Final Blessing And Outro

Selfishness Is A Setup (Part 4)
In this episode of The One Thing That’s Needful Podcast, Dr. Sivan Funches-Dunham continues the series “Selfishness Is A Setup,” teaching that love gives, and selfishness keeps people trapped in a spiritually empty, “Dead Sea” mindset. She presents selfishness as a trap that turns attention inward and blocks the flow of life and blessing. Using Genesis 24, she shows how Abraham’s servant was sent to find a wife for Isaac, and how Rebekah’s quick, generous response to a stranger revealed the kind of unselfish faith God was looking for. Her kindness was not only immediate, but abundant, since she went beyond the request and offered water for the camels as well. The message emphasizes that believers should stop revolving around their own pain and instead sow into others, trusting God to return harvest in “good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over.” She urges listeners to resist the habit of self-focus and to believe that God can bring breakthrough through obedience and generosity. The core takeaway is that selfishness limits blessing, but unselfish giving opens the door to God’s provision, favor, and generational fruit. The episode encourages listeners to live with outward faith, trusting that what they give in love will come back multiplied in ways that affect both their own lives and those who come after them. Selfishness Is a Setup (Part 3)
In this episode of The One Thing That’s Needful Podcast, Dr. Sivan Funches-Dunham continues her series on selfishness and shows how love is meant to be active, not passive. The central message is that love gives, and that giving is one of the clearest ways believers reflect God’s nature. She returns to John 3:16 and emphasizes the phrase “For God so loved the world that He gave,” explaining that God’s love is seen in action. The episode also points to Jesus as the perfect example of humility and service, since He came not to be served but to serve and give His life for others. The teaching contrasts selfishness with generosity and presents selfishness as a trap that keeps people from walking in the blessing of God. Dr. Dunham encourages listeners to see giving as a spiritual gift and as something God can use in every season of life. Overall, the episode invites believers to examine their hearts, reject selfish habits, and follow Jesus’ example of serving others with love. Selfishness Is a Setup (Part 2)
In this episode, Dr. Sivan Funches-Dunham continues the series Selfishness Is a Setup by teaching that love is meant to give, not hoard. Drawing from John 3:16 and 1 Corinthians 13, she emphasizes that God’s love is active, generous, and reflected in practical acts of service, encouragement, prayer, and presence. A major theme is the principle of reaping and sowing. Dr. Funches-Dunham explains that God designed this system so that what believers sow—whether time, prayer, care, or resources—will return to them, though not always from the same person or in the same form. She encourages listeners not to become discouraged if people do not “pay it forward,” because God Himself remains faithful to bring the harvest. The message then broadens into a call for spiritual and social interconnectedness. Using examples from family life, marriage, children, and current events, she argues that believers should not isolate themselves or say that other people’s struggles are “not my problem.” Instead, she presents prayer and concern for others as a way of sowing protection, healing, and future blessing into one’s own life and the lives of loved ones. Dr. Funches-Dunham also reflects on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the idea that “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” connecting that insight to the biblical truth that all believers are one body in Christ. She closes by highlighting Jesus washing the disciples’ feet in John 13 as the ultimate picture of secure, humble service. Her conclusion is that true Christian maturity shows up in a willingness to serve, give, and lay down one’s life for others. Selfishness Is a Setup (Part 1)
In this episode of The One Thing That’s Needful Podcast, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches-Dunham launches a new series, “Selfishness Is a Setup,” with a message that exposes self-absorption as a spiritual trap. She begins by grounding the teaching in God’s love, reminding listeners that love gives, and that the clearest picture of that love is seen in the Father giving His Son for the world. Using 1 Corinthians 13, 1 Peter 4:8, and other scriptures, she shows that spiritual activity without love is empty, and that true love is always expressed through giving, covering, and serving others. The message emphasizes that selfishness can keep believers stuck in a cycle of pain, because when people become consumed with their own problems, they stop sowing into others and miss the freedom that comes from living God’s way. Dr. Funches-Dunham also teaches that believers are one body in Christ, so when one member refuses to help another, everyone suffers. She ties this to the principle that God blesses His people to be a blessing, and encourages listeners to sow prayer, encouragement, counsel, and resources even in the very areas where they themselves need breakthrough, trusting God’s promise that what is sown will be reaped. The episode closes with a strong reminder that Jesus came not to be served but to serve and give His life for many, making service and generosity central to the Christian life. In the end, the message calls believers to break free from selfishness, walk in love, and trust that as they give, God will bring increase, healing, and blessing in return. 00:00 Welcome to the Podcast 01:08 Series Intro and Prayer 02:41 Gods Rhema Moment 04:14 Love Gives John 316 06:01 Love Over Gifts 11:17 Selfishness Is the Trap 15:06 Midroll and Share 17:10 Trouble Is Inevitable 18:47 One Body One Care 24:55 Sow and Reap Blessing 30:17 Be Like Christ Serve 31:08 Closing and Resources

If You Don’t Have It, You Don’t Need It (Part 12)
In this episode of The One Thing That’s Needful Podcast, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches-Dunham brings the series “If You Don’t Have It, You Don’t Need It” to a close by reinforcing a central truth: God is faithful to supply every need, even when circumstances make that seem impossible. Rooted in Philippians 4:19, the message encourages believers to stop being ruled by natural logic, lack, or fear, and instead trust the Lord’s provision with full confidence. Dr. Funches-Dunham uses several powerful Bible stories to illustrate this point. She revisits the feeding of the multitude in John 6, showing how Jesus multiplied a boy’s small offering into more than enough for thousands, with twelve baskets left over. She then points to the story of Ruth and Boaz, highlighting how Ruth’s faithfulness and dependence on God led her from hardship and desperation into unexpected favor, provision, and restoration. Finally, she looks at the widow of Zarephath in 1 Kings 17, where God sustained a woman, her son, and the prophet Elijah through a famine with flour and oil that never ran out. The episode’s message is simple but strong: what looks insufficient in the natural is no obstacle to God. When believers rest in Christ, give thanks, and trust His word, they can expect not just survival, but overflowing provision, divine favor, and enough to bless others. If You Don’t Have It You Don’t Need It (Part 11)
In this episode of The One Thing That’s Needful Podcast, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches-Dunham continues the series “If You Don’t Have It, You Don’t Need It” by teaching that God is not only able to provide, but that His provision often comes in ways that defy natural logic. Rooted in Philippians 4:19, this message emphasizes that the believer’s confidence should rest in God’s unlimited supply rather than in visible resources, human reasoning, or circumstances. A major focus of the message is the correction of religious thinking about money and provision. Dr. Funches-Dunham makes the case that financial blessing is not evil, and that God’s will includes practical, material, and financial supply for His people. She points to scriptures such as 2 Corinthians 8:9, Romans 8:32, Isaiah 55:1, Deuteronomy 6:11, Joshua 24:13, Psalm 127:1, and John 15:5 to show that God gives freely, richly, and in a way that produces rest rather than striving. The sermon then turns to Exodus 16 and the story of Israel in the wilderness. After being miraculously delivered from Egypt, the people quickly began to complain and fear that God would not provide for them, even longing for the same bondage He had just rescued them from. Dr. Funches-Dunham uses this to warn believers against fear, complaining, and logical thinking that can cause them to miss God’s provision, and she reminds listeners that God answered Israel with manna from heaven—proof that He can sustain His people supernaturally, even in places where no natural solution seems possible. This episode ultimately encourages believers to trust God’s way of providing, even when they cannot see it yet. The message is a reminder that lack does not limit God, and that His provision can arrive with ease, rest, and abundance when faith replaces fear. If You Don’t Have It, You Don’t Need It (Part 10)
In this episode of The One Thing That’s Needful Podcast, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches-Dunnom continues the “If You Don’t Have It, You Don’t Need It” series with a message about God’s provision, mercy, and deliverance for believers who feel trapped by their circumstances. Rooted in Philippians 4:19 and supported by Isaiah 61 and the stories of Israel in Exodus and Jonah, the episode emphasizes that God not only supplies needs but also restores what was lost, even across generations. A major theme of the message is that some bondage is self-inflicted, but even then, God remains faithful to rescue and restore. Using Jonah’s disobedience and the Israelites’ captivity in Egypt, the episode highlights that guilt, condemnation, and shame can become spiritual bondage that keeps people from receiving what God has already promised. The teaching also stresses that it is not too late for anyone who feels they have missed their purpose. Jonah’s time in the fish is presented as evidence that God can preserve both a person’s life and their destiny, and that delay, failure, or disobedience do not cancel God’s promise. The final movement of the episode focuses on Exodus 14, where God leads Israel to the Red Sea and destroys Pharaoh’s army. The message frames this as a picture of divine strategy: what looks like entrapment to enemies becomes the very place where God demonstrates His glory, delivers His people, and permanently removes opposition. Overall, the episode is a strong encouragement to release fear, reject condemnation, and trust God even when circumstances look impossible. The central takeaway is that God already has a plan, and He is able to turn pressure, delay, and attack into deliverance, vindication, and victory. If You Don’t Have It, You Don’t Need It (Part 9)
In this episode of The One Thing That’s Needful Podcast, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches-Dunnom continues her powerful series, “If You Don’t Have It, You Don’t Need It.” Rooted in Philippians 4:19, this message reminds believers that God is faithful to supply every need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Even when life feels uncertain, restricted, or delayed, God is still at work, guiding His people with wisdom, purpose, and perfect timing. Through the story of Paul and Silas in Acts 16, this episode reveals that not every closed door is the devil. Sometimes, what looks like a setback is actually divine direction, leading us away from one assignment and into another that is greater than we imagined. When Paul and Silas were prevented from going where they planned, God redirected them to Macedonia, where their obedience became a channel for deliverance, healing, and salvation. This teaching also draws from the lives of Joseph and the children of Israel to show that God remains faithful even in seasons of hardship, captivity, and wilderness. Temporary prisons, painful delays, and difficult transitions are not proof that God has left you. Instead, they may be places where His purpose is unfolding, where His power is being revealed, and where others will come to know Him through your testimony. God does not abandon His people in the middle of the process—He finishes what He starts, and He supplies every need along the way.

If You Don’t Have It You Don’t Need It (Part 8)
In this episode of The One Thing That’s Needful Podcast, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches-Dunnom continues the series “If You Don’t Have It, You Don’t Need It.” The message is anchored in Philippians 4:19 and reinforces the central theme that God is the source of every real need, so believers are called to trust His provision rather than their own limited understanding. The teaching follows Paul and Silas in Acts 16, showing how God redirected their steps, opened Lydia’s heart, and then used their imprisonment as the stage for a supernatural deliverance. Even while bound in the inner dungeon with their feet in stocks, they prayed and sang hymns at midnight, and God answered with an earthquake that opened the doors and broke the chains of every prisoner. A major emphasis of the episode is that captivity is often built on doubt, fear, and unbelief, but faith is stronger and comes by hearing the word of Christ. Dr. Funches-Dunnom encourages listeners to stop reacting in the flesh, let God defend them, and remember that even the darkest season can have a divine purpose. The episode closes with a strong call to keep believing, even if freedom has not yet fully shown up in the natural. If You Don't Have It You Don't Need It (Part 7)
In this episode of The One Thing That’s Needful Podcast, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches-Dunnom advances her inspiring series, “If You Don’t Have It, You Don’t Need It,” anchored in Philippians 4:19. The teaching emphasizes trusting God’s abundant provision over human logic or visible resources, using biblical testimonies to build faith as per Revelation 12:11. Peter’s dramatic imprisonment in Acts 12 exemplifies this principle. Bound with double chains between soldiers, guarded heavily, and facing execution after King Herod killed James to please the crowd, Peter slept peacefully the night before his death sentence—resting in unwavering faith while the church prayed fervently. A heavenly angel appeared, struck Peter awake, and his chains fell off effortlessly; doors opened automatically, passing multiple guards and the iron city gate without resistance, proving no captivity—physical or spiritual (like addiction and depression)—is beyond God’s limitless power to shatter. Even with imperfect faith, as shown by the praying believers’ surprise at Peter’s arrival, God honors persistent trust in His word over circumstances. God has miraculously delivered His children from all forms of bondages-physical prisons, addictions, etc…. And He has done so time and time again with the people and things logic leads us to think we need. God has done it with no lawyers, appeals, or rehab programs! God has proven countless times that Jesus remains the ultimate solution for freedom today! God Supplies Every Need: Faith, Abundance, and Peter’s Prison Break Dr. Sivan (Avon) Funches Dunham introduces The One Thing That’s Needful podcast, emphasizing the new covenant of grace, that faith comes by hearing Christ’s word, and that believers receive God’s promises by believing. Using Philippians 4:19 as the key text, she recaps lessons on walking by faith rather than sight, avoiding reliance on human reasoning, and trusting God’s abundant provision (El Shaddai), illustrated by Hannah receiving more children than she asked for. She explains the importance of testimonies and the body of Christ, citing Revelation 12:11, and focuses on captivity as more than physical prisons. In Acts 12, Peter is imprisoned and facing execution, yet the church prays and Peter rests; God sends an angel, chains fall off, gates open, and Peter is delivered, showing Jesus still sets captives free even when natural solutions are unavailable. If You Don't Have It You Don't Need It ( Part 5)
In this episode of One Thing That’s Needful, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches-Dunnom continues the powerful series “If You Don’t Have It, You Don’t Need It,” rooted in the promise of Philippians 4:19—that God supplies every need according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus. This message reminds believers that God’s provision is not dependent on human logic, personal resources, or visible circumstances. Instead, faith grows as we sit at the feet of Jesus and hear His Word, allowing God’s truth to override the discouragement that can come from what we see in the natural. Drawing from Luke 1, Dr. Funches-Dunnom examines the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth, the parents of John the Baptist, who faced what she describes as “triple barrenness”—infertility, advanced age, and seemingly impossible circumstances. Despite their faithful service to God, they encountered trials that logic would say were hopeless. Yet through the angel Gabriel’s announcement and the miraculous birth of John, the story reveals a powerful truth: when God makes a promise, He will fulfill it at the appointed time. This episode encourages believers to guard their words, resist the temptation to rely on human reasoning, and trust that God’s supernatural power can bring breakthroughs even in the most barren situations. If You Don't Have It You Don't Need It ( Part 4)
In this powerful episode of The One Thing That’s Needful Podcast, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches-Dunnom continues the series “If You Don’t Have It, You Don’t Need It,” unpacking the promise found in Philippians 4:19—that God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus. Through scripture and biblical examples, you are reminded that what appears missing in the natural is never a limitation for God. If God has called you, He has already provided everything necessary for your breakthrough. In this installment, the message focuses on deliverance and freedom from bondage. Looking at Isaiah 61:1 and the life of Joseph, you are encouraged to see how God specializes in making a way when there seems to be none. Joseph’s journey—from betrayal and slavery to imprisonment and ultimately promotion—reveals that God does not depend on human systems to rescue His people. Even when every logical solution is absent, God’s Word alone is enough to bring supernatural deliverance. The reminder is clear: if you don’t Join The One Thing That’s Needful community today:

In Part 3 of If You Don’t Have It, You Don’t Need It, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches Dunnom reminds you of the promise in Philippians 4:19 — that God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Even when circumstances or expert opinions say otherwise, God’s Word has the final authority. The call from Jesus remains the same: only believe. You are encouraged to look beyond what you see in the natural. Through the example of Hannah in 1 Samuel, you are reminded that situations may appear barren or impossible, but the size of the challenge does not change the certainty of God’s promise. If You Don't Have It You Don't Need It ( Part 2)
In Part 2 of this faith-building series, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches-Dunnom continues unpacking the powerful promise of Philippians 4:19 — “My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” This episode dives deeper into the spiritual battle between faith and logic. While God created us with reasoning and intelligence, He calls believers to walk by faith — not by sight. When challenges arise, especially those that appear “impossible” in the natural, the enemy tempts us to search for natural solutions. But spiritual battles require spiritual answers — and Jesus is always the answer. Using the story of Hannah in First Samuel 1–2,Dr. Funches-Dunnom illustrates how barrenness represents more than infertility — it symbolizes emptiness, lack, and having nothing to work with. Hannah faced deep emotional pain, public provocation, and a closed womb — yet she continued seeking the Lord year after year. Instead of allowing bitterness to separate her from God, she brought her anguish honestly before Him. When Hannah received a prophetic word from Eli and chose to believe God, her countenance changed before her circumstances did. That is the fruit of faith. Her womb had not yet opened, but her spirit had shifted. She went from weeping to worshiping — from grief to expectation. God not only answered Hannah’s prayer for one son; He over-answered it. He replaced barrenness with abundance, giving her multiple children. The natural facts never changed — there was still no “cure” — but God proved once again: if you don’t have it, you don’t need it. If You Don't Have It You Don't Need It ( Part 1)
In this powerful opening to a brand-new series, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches-Dunnom unpacks a bold and liberating truth rooted in Bible Scripture: “If you don’t have it, you don’t need it.” Centered on Philippians 4:19 — “My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” — this episode challenges believers to shift from logic and natural reasoning to a faith-filled reliance on God’s promises. Dr. Funches-Dunnom teaches that although God created us with intellect and reasoning, He calls His children to live by faith — not by sight. Drawing from Genesis, Isaiah 54, and the account of Mary in Luke, she reveals how God consistently proves that barrenness, emptiness, and impossibility are no obstacle to His power. Whether the challenge is physical, emotional, financial, or spiritual, what appears to be lacking is not a limitation for God. Through the examples of creation itself and the miraculous conception of Jesus, listeners are reminded that God does not require human resources to fulfill divine promises. If it is missing, it is not necessary. If it has not manifested, it is not because God forgot — it is because He is still God. This episode invites you to rejoice before you see the result, prepare before you hold the promise, and stand firm in the confidence that God cannot lie. God Has Not Changed His Mind (Part 7)

God Has Not Changed His Mind (Part 7)
In this episode, I bring our God Has Not Changed His Mind series to a close by walking through one powerful truth: God does not change His mind about His promises—no matter the trial, the time, or our mistakes. I anchor this teaching in Numbers 23:19 and reflect on the life of King David, showing how betrayal, persecution, delay, and temptation never altered what God had already spoken over his life. I share how David faced repeated tests on his journey to the throne—tests of character, forgiveness, patience, and the temptation to settle for less than what God promised. We look at how even subtle “almost” victories can be traps, and why agreeing fully with God is not pride, but true humility. I also draw a powerful parallel from the life of Jesus, showing how He, too, rejected counterfeit kingship and refused to settle for anything less than the Father’s plan. Finally, I talk openly about the test of time and the weight of waiting. Using examples from David, Abraham and Sarah, and even my own life, I remind you that delay is not denial. Time does not rule God—He created time. Even when we make mistakes or grow weary, God remains faithful and finishes what He promised. My prayer is that this episode strengthens your faith, restores your hope, and reminds you that God’s word over your life is still standing—unchanged and unstoppable. God Has Not Changed His Mind(Part 6)
In this powerful continuation of the teaching series God Has Not Changed His Mind, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches unpacks the unchanging nature of God through the life of David, anchoring the message in Numbers 23:19 and other key biblical passages. This episode explores how God’s promises remain firm despite human weakness, emotional exhaustion, and prolonged seasons of testing. Through David’s journey of rejection, injustice, and delay, listeners are reminded that God’s faithfulness is not dependent on human perfection. Even when emotions run high and circumstances seem unfair, God remains steadfast, intentional, and fully committed to bringing His word to pass. This message speaks directly to believers navigating frustration, waiting seasons, spiritual fatigue, or unanswered prayers. The episode also offers deep insight into spiritual maturity, highlighting how provocation, discouragement, and partial fulfillment can become subtle traps that derail destiny if left unchecked. Using the story of David, Abigail, and later David’s leadership challenges, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches emphasizes that while God does not require perfection on the path to promise, He does require perseverance and presence. This teaching encourages listeners to resist settling prematurely, to remain focused on God’s full promise, and to trust divine timing even when progress feels slow or costly. Rich with biblical wisdom and practical application, this episode serves as a reminder that God’s plans extend beyond the individual and are ultimately designed to bless others, advance His kingdom, and reveal His unwavering character. God Has Not Changed His Mind (Part 5)
I’m Dr. Siovaughn Funches, and I’m honored once again to be your host here on The One ThingThat’s Needful Podcast. In this episode, we continue our powerful series titled “God Has Not Changed His Mind.” Together, we dive even deeper into Numbers 23:19, which reminds us that God is not a man that He should lie, nor the son of man that He should change His mind. What He has spoken, He will surely perform. Through the life of David, God continues to show us that no amount of adversity, delay, or opposition can change His mind about His promises. The devil may try to wear you down with discouragement or fear, but every trial is an opportunity to strengthen your faith—not weaken it. We revisit David’s journey from being anointed as king to being hunted by Saul, learning how jealousy, fear, and disobedience can open the door to destruction—but faith, humility, and obedience keep us aligned with God’s will. Even when David had the chance to take revenge, he chose instead to trust God’s timing and let the Lord fight his battles. God is reminding us through this word: guard your heart, stay steadfast, and don’t let hard times make you hard. His promises are still true. His Word still stands. He has not changed His mind about what He spoke over your life. Join The One Thing That’s Needful community today:

In this episode of The One Thing That’s Needful, I continue our series, God Does Not Change His Mind. Together we turn to Numbers 23:19 and the story of David and Goliath to see how God’s promises never fail. David’s victory wasn’t about his strength or weapons, but about keeping his focus on the Lord. I share how remembering God’s past faithfulness helps us face today’s battles with confidence, and why it’s so important to fix our eyes on God instead of circumstances or signs. Facts may change, but God’s Word never changes. Every battle He allows is already a fixed fight, and His promises for your life still stand. God Has Not Changed His Mind (Part 3)
In this episode, I continue our powerful series titled "God Has Not Changed His Mind." We go deeper into Numbers 23:19, a foundational verse that reminds us that God is not a man that He should lie, nor the son of man that He should change His mind. If He said it, He will do it. I share what God first shared with me—that His promises still stand, even if it’s been a long time, even if you've faced trials, setbacks, or disappointments. Just like David on his way to the throne, we all go through seasons of waiting and warfare. But the enemy's attacks are meant to change your mind, not God's. The truth is, the devil knows he cannot stop God’s plans for your life—so he tries to wear you down and make you give up. But I’m here to remind you: God has not changed His mind. I also encourage you to go back and listen to previous parts of this series if you haven’t already, and to take in what God is saying afresh. His Word is rich, alive, and personal for the season you’re in. Let your heart be stirred again by the truth that God is faithful. He’s still moving. He’s still working. God Has Not Changed His Mind ( Part 2)
I’m Dr. Siohvaughn Funches, and I’m honored once again to be your host and to share with you the Word that God first shared with me. In this episode, I continue in our powerful series titled “God Has Not Changed His Mind.” Together, we’re diving into Numbers 23:19, where we’re reminded that God is not a man—He doesn’t lie, and He doesn’t change His mind. This message is so personal to me because I know what it’s like to receive a promise from God with joy and excitement—only to be met with waiting, discouragement, and even persecution. But I’m here to encourage you: God doesn’t change His mind. What He said, He will do. He is faithful to fulfill every promise He has spoken over your life. We talk about that often-forgotten season between the planting of God’s Word and the harvest—the “waiting room,” as I like to call it. If you haven’t yet heard my episode “Waiting Room Wisdom,” I highly recommend giving it a listen—or re-listen. The enemy often uses that in-between time to plant doubt, fear, and unbelief. But God is still working, even when we can’t see it. Key Takeaways: God doesn’t lie or change His mind: What He has spoken, He will perform (Numbers 23:19). The enemy comes for the Word’s sake: Trials and persecution often follow after a Word is received. There’s a sowing, waiting, and harvest season: Don’t give up in the “waiting room.” Your destiny is secure: No matter the delay, God's promise still stands. God is faithful to finish what He started: Stay encouraged and rooted in His Word. Love the show ? Subscribe, rate, review, and share! Join The One Thing That’s Needful community today:

God Has Not Changed His Mind (Part 1)
In this powerful teaching, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches continues her study on the life of David, diving deep into God’s perspective on righteousness and the significance of the heart. Through 1 Samuel 16 and other key scriptures, Dr. Funches reminds listeners that man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart. She encourages believers to stop judging themselves—or others—based on performance or external standards and instead receive the gift of righteousness that comes by faith in Jesus Christ. This episode is a call to stop striving for approval through self-righteousness and to rest in the righteousness that God freely gives. Using David’s story, Dr. Funches paints a compelling picture of how even when man overlooks us—sometimes even those closest to us—God still appoints and anoints according to His purpose. If God chose David, the overlooked shepherd boy, He can and has chosen you. Key Takeaways: God’s standard is the heart: He does not judge by outward appearance (1 Samuel 16). Self-righteousness is rejected: It's not about what you do or don’t do—true righteousness is a gift received by faith in Jesus. You are already righteous: If you believe in Jesus, you are clothed in God’s own righteousness—nothing you do can add to that. You may be overlooked by people—but not by God: Even David’s own father and brothers didn’t consider him, but God appointed him king. Your calling is from God: Man may appoint leaders, but true spiritual authority and calling come from God Himself. Don’t miss God: Even without external validation, remain faithful and confident in what God has said and shown you. Love the show ? Subscribe, rate, review, and share!
