Winter Film Fests Adapt to New Paradigms
After making plans to have in person screenings in 2022, thanks to COVID, Sundance moved back to a virtual program. All panels, film presentations and networking took place online. Yes, there were plenty of acquisitions, along with reports of dwindling Theatrical box office returns the past few years for previous Sundance titles. What can this mean? Slamdance adjusted their dates, moved back online AND added a monthly membership model. Another subscription fee? Films at the Berlinale will only play in person, with no movies available online.
