A steward doesn’t own the message but manages it faithfully. Stewarding the Gospel means living it out, not just preaching it. God’s leaders don’t cater to comfort—they deliver truth, even when it’s hard. We’re accountable first to God, not human applause. If someone followed your calendar, your bank account, or your social feed—what would they say matters most to you? In Week 2 of our Generous Living series, Pastor Vicki takes us to Matthew 25 and the Parable of the Talents to ask a vital question: What are we doing with what God has entrusted to us? Watch the full worship service video below or listen to the sermon audio player to experience the full message. ⸻ What We Treasure, We Multiply Jesus often taught in parables, and the one in Matthew 25:14–30 is especially provocative: a master entrusts his wealth to three servants before leaving on a long journey. When he returns, he wants to know what they’ve done with it. Here’s what we learned from Pastor Vicki’s message: • Everything belongs to God. The gold, the servants, the very breath in our lungs—it all comes from the Master. Our culture loves the idea of being independent, self-made, or self-owned. But in God’s kingdom, we’re stewards, not owners. • God expects spiritual profit. This parable isn’t just about money. It’s about using your time, energy, gifts, and influence for God’s purposes. Pastor Vicki challenged us: “We are created to multiply God’s impact through what we’ve been given.” • Fear is not a faithful excuse. The third servant buried the money out of fear. He didn’t lose it—but he also didn’t use it. Fear of failure or scarcity can paralyze us spiritually. But the kingdom of God calls for bold, faithful living, even in risk. ⸻ Faithful Stewardship Starts with Surrender We can’t multiply what we’re still clinging to. The first step in living generously is surrendering ownership back to God. That means asking: “What have I been given, and how can I use it for God’s glory?” Whether it’s your finances, your free time, your talents, or your relationships—God’s looking not for perfection, but participation. What A Mess: Gideon | Rev. Vicki Harrison If you've ever stood in the middle of a mess and thought, “Where do I even begin?”—you’re not alone. Week 2 of our What a Mess series takes us into the chaotic world of the Judges and the unlikely leadership of Gideon. From Chaos to Calling Pastor Vicki began with a relatable visual: a messy teenager’s room. It’s overwhelming, disorienting, and just like the time of the Judges—where “everyone did what was right in their own eyes.” That kind of self-reliance never ends well. “Our inner compass fails us. We need direction—specifically, God’s direction.” When we meet Gideon in Judges 6, he’s hiding in a winepress. Not exactly a mighty warrior, right? But that’s where God shows up. A Hesitant Hero Gideon is fearful, skeptical, and full of excuses: “How can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest…and I am the least in my family.” Yet God says, “Go in the strength you have.” Not someone else’s strength. Not future-you. You, right now. That’s powerful. Even then, Gideon asks for signs—again and again. “Maybe Gideon was slightly OCD,” Pastor Vicki joked, “but God is patient with him.” This story reminds us that God doesn’t demand perfect faith. He simply asks us to keep showing up. Down to 300 From 32,000 men… to 10,000… to just 300. “God wanted to ensure that in no way at all could the Israelites think this was their victory.” We often think we need to be more—stronger, braver, smarter. But God uses less to do more. “God isn’t just an odds defier—He’s an odds smasher.” Trumpets Over Weapons The turning point? Trumpets. Not swords. “Gideon didn’t question. He didn’t argue. He just obeyed.” That’s faith in motion. Faith not in ourselves, but in God’s power through our weakness. So, What About You? “What’s going on in your life? How is God asking you to trust Him, to have faith?” You may be trying to fix it your way. But what if God’s asking you to surrender, step back, and watch Him move? Faith doesn’t have to be big—it just has to be real. Passing The Baton - Graduation Sunday - Julie Hamilton and the Next Gen Teams Faith That Leaves a Legacy: Passing The Baton Graduation Sunday at New Hope is always something special—and this year is no exception. We celebrate not just academic accomplishments, but the faith journeys of our students and the spiritual impact of their families, mentors, and the church community that have walked with them every step of the way. High school senior Brindley Rhodes kicked off our message by sharing her testimony of transformation, how her individual faith matured into shared community after years of praying for meaningful connections. She reminded us that we are not just small groups scattered through a congregation—we are one unified body in Christ (1 Corinthians 12:12–20). Her challenge was simple: take time to truly connect with one another and recognize the legacy we are all helping build, together. Then we heard a video message from college graduate Rosie Harrison. Rosie offered powerful insights on what her generation longs to see in the church—genuine, lived-out faith. She emphasized that her peers are not interested in tradition for tradition’s sake, but in churches that prioritize justice, compassion, humility, and mercy—the kind of radical love Jesus taught and lived. She called on the church to be bold, to stand with the vulnerable, and to live out Micah 6:8 in both word and action. After the students spoke, graduates symbolically passed red batons to the next generation—an act of spiritual commissioning. They then handed out roses to someone in their “village,” honoring those who shaped their faith. The moment was emotional and unforgettable. Pastor Vicki Harrison concluded with a heartfelt charge to the graduates, encouraging them to live lives that truly matter by embracing: Passion: Find joy in your journey and live fully. Humility: Serve others with the heart of Jesus. Purpose: Let your life reflect the light of Christ and draw others to God. She reminded us all that the greatest legacy we can leave is not material—but spiritual. Our job is to love deeply, disciple well, and trust that God is working through us in every season.
