How To Raise Kids Who Want To Become Parents
The decision to have kids - or, more commonly these days, to NOT have kids - isn't just some random decision your kids make. It comes after years of seeing how you treat fatherhood and motherhood. Whether you value it. Whether you've taught them the importance of their gender and how God intentionally created them that gender, and that He loves certain things about that gender. If you value family, having kids, and obeying God, then you need to actually train your kids to WANT to become parents. How (And Why) To Celebrate Biblical Holidays This Spring
One of our favorite ways to disciple our kids - while having a ton of fun - is to celebrate the 7 Biblical feasts. They're not just for Jewish people...they all prefigure Christ, and are an amazing opportunity to talk about the Gospel to our kids on an annual rhythm. This month's focus in the Family Teams Accelerator is how to lean into the 4 Spring Festivals, and in this episode we give you a sneak peak into some of our tips and rhythms, as well as what to expect as you begin to celebrate things like Passover, Shavuot, etc. On this episode, we talk about: 0:00 Intro 0:39 It's Odd That Most People Don't Live Spiritual Seasons 1:32 The 4 Biblical Spring Holidays 3:49 Why Celebrate These Holidays 4:31 How The Pryor's Have Developed Their Family Festival Celebrations 10:56 These Festivals Are All About Christ 17:30 How To Celebrate Passover 24:10 Family Shavuot Celebrations 27:12 Join The Accelerator This Month! Building A Family Economy with Rory Groves

Building A Family Economy with Rory Groves
Jeremy is joined by Rory Groves, who moved his family to a homestead 12 years ago and eventually quit his software engineer job to build a family economy. They talk about the implications of the industrial revolution and how anti-family (and anti-God) it is, and how families can start to make the mindset shift to build a family economy in a modern world. There are some really fundamental, theological questions that require wrestling with, because so many Christians today give up some fundamental arguments to the secular world, and Jeremy and Rory break many of these down around topics like work, family, economy, and more. They look ahead at the next few years and what to expect with AI, and Rory gives an overview of his book Durable Trades as a way to defend your family against the likely devastation that's incoming. Is It Worthwhile To Invest In A Family Legacy? (Hormozi Reaction)
Is it pointless to try to leave a family legacy when your great grandkids probably won't even know who you are? That's what business influencer Alex Hormozi said recently. "Just help people now, don't worry about a family legacy", is essentially his argument. Birth rates are declining rapidly across the Western and developed world. Yet...there are still families out there having 5+ children, completely defying modern trends. What encourages someone to have a large family? How do we promote the benefits and joys of having a lot of kids? What does it mean for the future of our country and our world? Jeremy's daughter, Sydney, is getting married soon, so Jeremy starts off today's episode talking about something every daughter wants to talk to their dad about: Contraception in marriage! 😂 The whole conversation focuses on the purpose of marriage, children as a result of marriage, and what it means that most poeple in the western world today think having kids is optional. Should Dads Really Go To Therapy?

Should Dads Really Go To Therapy?
We live in a decidedly "therapeutic culture". There are a million questions we could ask about the implications of this, especially as it relates to fatherhood and motherhood, but the one we focus on today is, "Is embracing this therapeutic culture maladaptive for men?" Put another way, we discuss whether fathers are different enough from mothers that the question of therapy itself has to be broken down among gender lines. As always, we believe fatherhood and motherhood are the anchor points of gender. The entire REASON for gender. So, it makes sense that we talk about roles and how each member of the family could or perhaps even should approach therapy. Hit play to find out if dads should approach therapy differently. On this episode, we talk about: 0:00 Intro 1:25 Has therapeutic culture done some kind of damage to fatherhood? 2:48 Boys vs. girls talking about their feelings (Christina Hoff Summers Clip 5:55 Gender impact on therapy 8:04 Modern and ancient world collide over therapy 11:45 Therapy in the Sopranos 18:59 Therapy to become a victim 29:15 The risk of being too extreme and not having a support network Follow Family Teams: Facebook: Instagram: Website: Resources Mentioned: Tyler Graham: Philip Dosa: Christina Hoff Sommers on Dad Saves America: Dewayne Noel on Modern Wisdom: Bad Therapy by Abigail Shrier: Family Revision by Jeremy Pryor: --- Hi, welcome to the Family Teams podcast! Our first granddaughter is 10 days old, and we have a family story to share with you, that we hope will encourage and give hope to all of you mothers out there (and the fathers who lead family teams!). The story you're about to hear absolutely shocked the nurse involved...but we thought it was totally normal. It's just one more proof point to the goodness of God's ancient plan for families, and why we think the Family Teams model works so well. This wasn't something we planned for, or even had as a goal, but our hope is that in sharing it with you, it gives you a direction and perhaps even opens your eyes for the first time to just how deeply connected you can be with the other people in your family. Reject Modern Parenting Trends, Accept Biblical Wisdom

Reject Modern Parenting Trends, Accept Biblical Wisdom
It is SO strange that a new parenting trend emerges every 5-10 years. For generations, there was basically just "parenting"...passed down from one generation to another. Multi-generational wisdom, essentially...very Family Teams. But with the disintegration of generational families and the rise of hyper-individualism, parents these days are left to come up with their own methods, focusing a little on this, then a little on that. Not only is it dangerous to use an untested parenting method, MOST of them that come out these days (formerly in books, now often via social media influencers), are extremely secular and certainly not wise (the fear of God being the beginning of wisdom...). Jeremy digs into this issue, and how to root yourself in a solid Biblical understanding of fatherhood and motherhood, joined by his wife April and Donna Cheung. On this episode, we talk about: 0:00 Intro 0:48 The rise of "parenting trends" 2:35 Why modern culture has led to so many different parenting philosophies (clip) 8:30 The risks of being a young mother in the information age 19:10 Why most parenting studies are bunk and how to weigh advice 26:44 Potential for deception, especially with secular parenting books 32:37 Don't go down the "way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death" Follow Family Teams: Facebook: Instagram: Website: Resources Mentioned: --- Hi, welcome to the Family Teams podcast! The Case For Fatherhood: Convincing A Childless Generation with Tyler Graham
One of the biggest reasons for the birth rate nosedive is that people no longer hear the positive arguments for having kids. All they hear is the constant societal push for "freedom" being the ultimate virtue. It's led to a culture of hyper-individualism, where having kids makes absolutely no sense, because kids necessarily infringe on your freedom. In this episode, Jeremy is joined by Tyler Graham to make the case for fatherhood from 3 different angles: 1. The Benefits for You 2. The Benefits For Your Family/Business/Marriage 3. Your Duty To Have Kids Dive in, and remember that one of the major ways you can impact your own kids and community is by constantly telling and showing everyone how great fatherhood and motherhood truly is. Did Protestants Get Contraception Wrong?
Did Protestants miss something when it comes to contraception? What about hanging our faith on a set of very defined propositions (as opposed to actions and deep inner change)? This episode with Jeremy Pryor and Phil Cotnoir challenges a couple of oft ignored areas of growth in the Protestant church, by hearing from a couple of influential non-Christians and reacting to some fairly accurate critiques being level against the church. We can learn about family and faith from those on the borders of Christianity or Christian ideas...but we should also be able to frame the debate properly and not be overly influenced by liberal social experiments just because the culture seems to agree with them. Giving Your Kids An Identity In Christ, Not Gender with Jonathan Holmes
11/07/2024
Giving Your Kids An Identity In Christ, Not Gender with Jonathan Holmes
Jeremy is joined today by Jonathan Holmes to talk about why identity is such a hot topic today, and what it means for us as Christian parents of kids facing enormous cultural pressure. How do we give our kids a gospel-centric identity in Christ? Do we need to spend more time and effort building a family identity to combat peer-pressured identity formation? How can the church start to take back ground on gender, identity, and the Christian sexual ethic? These topics are hard to talk about, because so many people want to focus solely on the exceptions to the rule, and forgo talking about the general teaching, so it was a blessing to wrestle deeply with these issues with Jonathan. This conversation needs to be happening way more often, especially for those of us with children being impacted by an outside world heavily influenced by the enemy. What Can Moms Learn From Rebekah, Isaac, Esau, and Jacob
Jeremy is joined by his wife April, and friends Michelle Akrami and Brittany Stewart to discuss the story of Rebekah, Isaac's wife, in Genesis. How does this story of a mother and her two sons impact our view of motherhood? Did God work through her trying to do things "her way", or did God work in spite of her attempt to ensure her favorite son was blessed? Whatever the implications, we hope this episode gives you pause to think through what the meta narrative is telling us, and allows you to approach Scripture in a thoughtful and curious way to really let it sink in. In a culture that constantly attacks manhood and faith, how do we help our boys as they transition into manhood? How does a father maintain influence in his son's life amidst the chaos of social media, friends, and sports? Today Jeremy is joined by Stephen Meeks, author of Save The Boys. Stephen helps fathers take their sons through an initiatory rite of passage so that they become men in the best sense of the word. Conservative Christians Shouldn't Defend The Nuclear Family
It's strange to us that so many conservative Christians hold up the "nuclear family" as an ideal. The nuclear family has failed, and needs to be replaced. Now, before you think we've gone crazy, let's talk about what it needs to be replaced by... The TRADITIONAL (or, in Family Teams-speak, the "MULTI-GENERATIONAL") Family. There's a huge difference. Jeremy is joined by Tyler Graham and Chris Cirullo to talk about what that difference is, and how to get back to a Biblical blueprint of family that builds up and blesses, rather than tears down and destroys. On this episode, we talk about: 0:00 Intro 1:15 Should we really be defending the "Nuclear Family"? 4:37 "The nuclear family has failed" article 11:25 The paradigm shift from modern to traditional family 22:12 Does the nuclear family actually work? 27:31 The traditional family was a business enterprise 31:17 Multiple generations in DAILY contact 33:11 Traditional family as part of a broader congregation 43:09 Do you believe family is a vehicle? 51:04 Take courage and be hopeful! Motherhood, Joy, and the Preschool Debate
In this episode of the Family Teams Podcast (Motherhood Edition!), Jeremy and April are joined by Annalisa Barraza and Miranda Foust to discuss the countercultural idea of women actually enjoying motherhood. Then, the group reacts to a short clip from The Spillover podcast and discuss whether we should be sending our kids to preschool. We hope you notice that, yes, our ideas are often counterintuitive, but it's because something is desperately wrong with the way our culture is doing family. Our goal is to have honest and challenging conversations so that you as a listener can consider things from a new, and hopefully Biblical and multigenerational light. It's not always easy to have these conversations, but it's so worth it if we're going to raise up families that glorify God. On this episode, we talk about: 00:00 Intro 01:43 Celebrating Kyra's Birthday 03:56 Annalisa's Unexpected Response on Motherhood 06:54 The Struggle Against The Flesh as a Mother 14:26 Maintaining A Joyous Perspective in Motherhood When Things Are Hard 18:12 Encouraging Other Mothers 25:21 The Lifelong Joy of Motherhood 28:45 Should We Be Sending Our Kids To Preschool? 31:02 Debating the Role of Preschool 42:11 Bonus Clip: The Lies of Feminism Follow Family Teams: Facebook: Instagram: Website: Resources Mentioned: --- Hi, welcome to the Family Teams podcast! What Happens To Families When A Wife Earns More Than Her Husband (Patrick Bet-David Reaction)
Jeremy and April Pryor wade into the sensitive topic of what happens in marriages when a wife earns more money than a husband, and eventually becomes the "alpha". This conversation is a reaction to a recent video by Patrick Bet-David. Is it guaranteed to cause problems? What are the effects on family in a world where this is becoming increasingly common? This deeply impacts how we raise our daughters and how we work together as family teams, so at risk of offending everybody, we're diving in to explore relationship dynamics and what this means for modern families. On this episode, we talk about: 0:00 Intro 0:43 Should couples workout together? 2:24 Do alpha women destroy marriages? 5:35 We are running multiple societal experiments...what is the impact on the family? 10:18 Is being a workplace leader and a wife incompatible? 20:18 Niceness and agreeability 29:25 Why it's so hard on marriages when women try to "beat" men 33:28 Do women "lose attraction" to husbands who earn less than them? 40:37 When government reforms fix unimportant problems and do more damage to the family 44:33 Raising daughters to want to be moms, and equipping them for motherhood Follow Family Teams: Facebook: Instagram: Website: Resources Mentioned: --- Hi, welcome to the Family Teams podcast! Fathers Are High-Agency Men With Generational Vision
Jeremy and Curt Storring react to Steve Irwin's multi-generational mission, then Jeremy finds the phrase he's been searching for to describe who a great father is today (especially compared to the "fun dad" as shown on Bluey and other modern media). On this episode, we talk about: 0:00 Intro 1:39 Steve Irwin's Multigenerational Family Vision 6:41 Do we all need massive, narrow, world-changing visions? 8:37 Families (not institutions) should be multi-generational vehicles to fulfill missions 10:32 Levels to fatherly visions 16:25 Can a super narrow family vision subtly create disunity in a family team? 20:11 Leading with your mood 24:06 The difference between the modern, Western dad and the Biblical patriarch 31:47 Where are you giving up your agency? Raising Daughters Differently
09/12/2024
Raising Daughters Differently
Jeremy is joined by his wife April and their friends Jess and Brittany to react to a couple of recent Youtube videos about family and daughters in particular. First they tackle the question, how do we raise daughters differently from sons, particularly from the Family Teams perspective? Then they dive into the trad wife movement and ask what sort of contingency plans women should have in case the men in her life all let her down. This is a highly nuanced and important conversation to have from a Christian perspective to compare it to the modern, anti-God cultural story we're being told. On this episode, we talk about: 0:00 Intro 0:41 Topics 2:03 Reaction Clip 1: Marriage and Childbirth Culture in China 10:49 How do we raise daughters differently? 19:02 The biggest story wins 25:46 Should women create contingency plans in case every man in her life fails her? 27:55 Reaction Clip 2: Trad wife movement and contingency plans 35:02 Why Christian wives aren't thinking about contingency plans 40:32 Fathers as contingency plans when daughters are in need 52:06 "We roll deep." Motherhood vs. The Infertile Cult of Self-Expression

Motherhood vs. The Infertile Cult of Self-Expression
Jeremy and April Pryor are joined by Annalisa Barraza, Holly Worley, and Jess Gonyea to discuss two topics surrounding motherhood and femininity, all through the Family Teams lens. First they react to whether there's a place for women to "be" in the family, when compared to working outside the home. Our culture has put "self-expression" as the highest virtue, but can we as Christians really buy into that? Next, they comment on the reality of a woman's biological clock (in reaction to a Brett Cooper video). Even in Christian circles, nobody is talking to young women about the reality of fertility, aging, and the process leading up to having kids, and it's creating a tragic epidemic of "unplanned childlessness". These are the conversations we need to be having to point people back to Truth, Reality, and Christ in a world that's absolutely bent on distorting it all in order to do violence to the family as a vehicle for God's will. On this episode, we talk about: 1:34 Does the "Christian right" need more of a vision for women than being a wife and mother? 5:34 Moms react...is there a place for women to "be" in a family setting? 20:23 The cultural lie that "self-expression" is the ultimate goal 22:48 The Proverbs 31 woman as a vision for mothers and wives 30:35 Brett Cooper on The Reality of a Woman's Biological Clock 40:54 The pill, society's view of children, and "babymoons" 47:40 Integrating your entire life Follow Family Teams: Facebook: Instagram: Website: Resources Mentioned: --- Hi, welcome to the Family Teams podcast! Responsible Inheritance for Christian Fathers: How To Make It A Blessing, Not A Curse
Jeremy Pryor is joined by Chris Cirullo and Reilly Pilgrim to talk about inheritance. Inheritance is one of those issues that has been dealt with intentionally and maturely in many cultures for millennia...but Christians are generally really bad at understanding this. However, we can see by looking at the broader cultural narrative in which we live that it's actually liberalism as a worldview that is destroying our idea of inheritance and causing so much confusion for fathers and resentment for adult children. We'll dive into what responsible inheritance looks like in Family Teams, and how to navigate the question around stewarding resources over multiple generations. On this episode, we talk about: 1:24 Is inheritance a blessing or curse? 3:48 Set your kids up for multigenerational success with business and opportunity (reaction to Myron Golden) 17:49 Jeff Goldlum is not planning to give his kids any money...is he right? (reaction to Michael Knowles) 26:07 What if your kids don't want to be on your team? 39:45 Are you prepared to be the CEO of your family?
