August 11, 2020 Susan did this awesome needlework while in Covid-19 quarantine this year. She spent countless hours and did a beautiful job. We used 100% archival materials, including an acid-free backing and matting and reversible mounting techniques to preserve this work of art for a lifetime. Susan chooses a beautiful gold frame from Larson Juhl's Marias line. The dark grey mats and complementary fillet (that's the little extra gold accent inside the mat) are designed to complement the artwork without distracting. We topped it off with TruVue's Museum glass which filters harmful UV rays and has an anti-reflective coating making it nearly invisible. Framed Cigarette Cards from Frame Minnesota Shelby shows a custom framing project with 24 cigarette cards from the 1920s. Cigarette cards were inserted into paper packages of cigarettes beginning in the 1870s as a means of stiffening the packages and later as a collectible item. We crafted this unique frame with a beautiful mahogany frame and acid-free mat with individual openings cut to show both the front and back of the cards. A Slip Frame for Alabaster Pieces In this video, we show you a frame we made to display some tiny alabaster pieces from Egypt. We used a slip frame to allow the customer to remove and handle the art. We made the shelves for the art in the house and carved slots for the art to sit. The background is covered in a Durango suede fabric from Frank's Fabrics and the frame is smoked timber from Larson Juhl's Axel line. Stefon Diggs Custom Jersey Frame We custom framed this Stefon Diggs Minnesota Vikings jersey for a customer in LaCrosse, WI today. We used the familiar Vikings purple and gold and incorporated a photo of Diggs making that great catch now known as the Minnesota Miracle. This project is unique in that we did all of the design "virtually" because our client was out of the area. We worked by email and phone, exchanging photos and ideas until we came up with the final design. The jersey itself is stretched over an acid-free insert and sewn in place to keep it looking nice. All of the materials are acid-free for long term preservation. Bo Jackson Jersey in a Custom Framed Jersey Frame This custom framed this Bo Jackson LA Raiders jersey went out the door to a very happy customer today. Jackson is considered one of the great athletes of all time, with both a storied football and baseball career. He played both sports at Auburn University from 1982-1986 where he won the Heisman Trophy in 1985. He went on to play football for the Raiders and baseball for the Kansas City Royals as well as the Chicago White Sox and the California Angels. We did this project for Joe Christensen, owner and tattoo artist over at Rockin Tattoos in Eagan. As an artist, he had some ideas what he wanted for the design and even brought in some photos of his ideas, which we always welcome. The jersey itself is stretched over an acid free insert and sewn in place to keep it looking nice. All of the materials are acid free for long term preservation. We topped it off with a piece of Museum glass which blocks UV light from fading the project and is very, very clear of reflections. Our customer loves fall colors and purchased these on vacation. She'd always wished the leaves could be illuminated and when the glass broke in the existing frame, she gave us the opportunity to make them shine. Because LEDs are so small and stay cool when lit, we have many options for lighting your frame! This map by Keith Myrmel is a treasure trove of cool details of Minnesota's North Shore. It was entirely hand-drawn by Keith, an avid hiker, and architect who saw a need for a map that brings together hiking, biking, scenic and waterway information along with a ton of fun quotes. We were able to design and direct the machine to add a Bible verse to the bottom of a mat that was used in to frame a hockey jersey from Miami of Ohio.
