Introduction - I'm obsessed with GENIUS.
Today, I want to share what this podcast is about and why I am passionate about the content I will sharing on this podcast. But before I go into it all I want to take a moment to talk about HAWA Multimedia. HAWA Multimedia is a media collective formed by Uzma Jafri and Zaiba Hasan, Co-hosts of the Mommying While Muslim podcast. While on their journey to creating and building up their podcast they ran into some roadblocks and barriers but ultimately managed to get through them. Now an award-winning, internationally recognized podcast, they understand the intricacies of the work it takes grow your podcast and other media based shows and content. What I love specifically is that this is a collective for WOMEN content creators. They are passionate about helping women in mendia to amplify their voices and stories. As a collective member you get a host of benefits from networking, consultation, a mind hive, to sponsorship development, and other technical and marketing services. If you are CIS female or female identifying, and want to learn more about the collective, you can email with an inquiry. Next, I want to do a quick shout out for the Mommying While Muslim podcast. If you are a mom and want to get real world, hands-on, authentic and straight to the point advice on parenting, and mommying (and btw it doesn’t matter if you are muslim or not) you will benefit from tuning into this podcast. Zaiba Hasan and Uzma Jafri have a great chemistry and they are also HILARIOUS! If you need a good laugh, some education and some connection around motherhood. Definitely listen to this podcast. You can learn more about their podcasting schedule at mommyingwhilemuslim.com Okay, so let’s talk about this podcast and particularly what motivated me to do this podcast. So, I’m a firm believer that stories enhance and make life that much more valuable and rich. I also deeply believe that as we share our stories, amplify our voices and the voices of others, especially of those that don’t traditionally get heard, the closer we get to healing ourselves and our planet. But this podcast is not about healing, even though on some level, every action we take, or relationship we enter, and goal we have, is linked to some trauma we need to heal and in turn become the person we need to become. And stories are incredibly healing in large part due to the fact that as human beings we connect through stories. Connection is an incredible vehicle for healing and podcasting, bringing it back around, is one of the greatest modern day mediums on this planet for sharing stories and facilitating connection. Therefore, I see it as a tool, a vehicle for creating immense impact and healing. So podcasting is the medium of choice for this content for this core reason. At the young age of about 8 or 9, during a particularly challenging time of my life, I remember I started journaling. Getting thoughts from my head onto paper was a form of therapy and created immense relief as things spiraled out of control around me. Then at the age of 12 the devastating loss of my mother changed the trajectory of my life forever. Suddenly I was not only taking care of myself, I was put in charge of taking care of the entire household. I went from child to matriarch very quickly. I mourned not just the loss of my mother, but also of my childhood. It was during my time alone as I was homeschooled and everyone else was at school or at work, that I started to delve into books and tv shows that provided me with the resources and and tools to live a happier and more fulfilled life, one where I could dream and create a future that I wanted to create. Self-help, mindfulness, and success related themes and topics became an obsession for me. So, today, it’s only apt that I launch a self-development geared podcast, where I feature content on how we can create more fulfillment and success in our lives. Specifically, the content is focused on doing deep work and accessing our “genius” and creativity. Through the content I share on this podcast, I want to help create connections around a topic that opens us up to learning more about ourselves, identifying and acknowledging our differences as beautiful and unique and important, that ALSO inspires vitality and brilliance. Okay, so let’s get into the word GENIUS. This IS, honestly the word that inspired this podcast and it’s name. What I wanted to explore and sort of get into is , what does it mean really to be a GENIUS? Carl Jung, Nietzche, Leonardo DaVinci, Einstein, Aristotle, to name a few, are who typically come up when we think of the word GENIUS and I agree…these men contributed life changing, world-altering concepts and ideas to humanity. But, I rarely see a woman being called a Genius. Also, there are people doing such brilliant work in the world, they are creating true change in communities, industries, creating movements and shifting mindsets, people who are creating impact both small and large, creating and influencing significant and lasting change all around them. Is that person a GENIUS? I say yes. I believe we each have a GENIUS aspect to ourselves and it’s something we need to access and get in touch with. The more we do it the more we can live from that place. And it was Michael Gelb’s book titled Discover Your Genius: How to Think Like History's Ten Most Revolutionary Minds. In this book, as the author identified traits and characteristics associated with each of the GENIUSe, a question that kept popping up for me was “What if there are everyday geniuses that embody these characteristics…” as the Author is suggesting we can all “discover” our genius? So, why is this important. Why is it important that we live in our GENIUS. Well, as I mentioned earlier, we all choose to do something or be in relationship with someone, or choose a goal that is linked back to healing and growing ourselves…and tapping into and living in your Genius about living a more fulfilling life. It’s through our genius that we can create the greatest impact. It’s through our impact that we develop our income. The level impact we make directly correlates to the income we generate. So, tapping into our GENIUS can heal us, help us grow, help us create greater impact and income? Tapping into this could put human kind and the world in a much more positive trajectory. Why not get more people on board and test this theory out!? If you are with me then please tune in every week for season one as I interview amazing women entrepreneurs who are doing fabulous work in the world, have awakened to their own genius and now creating greater impact and income in the lives of others and their own. Season one, is 7 episodes. In Season 2, which i’m not entirely sure on the exact date of, will go deep in to the teachings of books and articles about discovering, accessing and putting our GENIUS to work. I have so much fantastic content to share with you all. I want to close by sharing that as a minority woman in media, I feel a great urgency, need, obligation and desire to have women at the “table” so to speak, holding conversations around topics that have traditionally been held by men, and mostly by white men. I want women like me to feel encouraged to start these conversations. I had my imposter syndrome moments with calling and launching this program, and it was absolutely the reason why I feel compelled to launch it and with this name. I want the next generation of leaders, our youth, and my own kids to see women like me amplifying conversations and take seats at tables where they’ve never seen women like me inhabit before. It feels good to do something scary and to be vulnerable and to take my place in this conversation, and yet I am excited and thrilled to be on this path. Along this amazing journey, I am surrounding myself with an amazing team of people and am honored to have YOU, the listeners joining me too! So be and stay in conversation with me along the way. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Until Next time, stay tapped into your genius, unleash your brilliance and create the impact you want to have in the world.
