Do you want to defend the faith but don't know how? Shanda knows firsthand what it's like to be in the church but unable to take Jesus to the world. She was raised in church but ill-equipped to defend the faith for years.
Join Shanda as she takes cultural issues and tackles them with Biblical truth, while integrating theology and apologetics into every day life. She talks about parenting kids in this cultural climate, standing for truth, and loving God with all of your mind. The episodes are kept short for busy women who want to be encouraged and equipped to defend the faith. If you want to know how to approach cultural issues from a biblical perspective, join Shanda each week as she takes on hard topics and teaches you to do the same.
Ep: 264 Why did an all knowing God create Hell? And do we really have free will?If God is all knowing do we really have free will? A few week's ago, I responded to a claim from a woman who said you cannot have an all knowing, all loving God, and Hell. So many people agreed with her and said if God is all knowing then we cannot have free will and make our own decisions. Like always, I take this debate back to the Bible where I break down the doctrine of free will, Hell, and the reason this woman might be justified in her claim IF and only IF God creates some for Heaven and some for Hell. But does He do that? We'll revisit her reel where she makes this claim and talk about all of this and more in today's episode. John and I tackle the most common question John is asked when it comes to this topic: if someone takes their life does that mean they won't go to heaven? Ep 262: What makes someone a hypocrite? One of the main reasons people say they won't go to church is because it's full of hypocrites. But does that mean only Christians can be hypocrites? We break down Jesus' words to the religous leaders when He called them hypocrites, as well as why judging others according to an unfair standard is hypocritical. Yet, that doesn't mean we can't or shouldn't judge. This episode is packed with the Bible and will leave you encouraged that Christians aren't the only ones with the potential to be hypocrites. Ep: 261 Online relationships and relying on ChatGPT with Josh Pauling and Annie CrawfordSocial media has given everyone a platform and with the platform comes an identity and autonomy that makes YOU the expert. Not only has this given way to echo chambers and funneling information that keeps opposing ideas out of conversations, it also creates a shallow understanding of meaningful relationships. We talk about this and when you should use ChatGPT, and what to use it for. There's a reason reading, writing, and processing skills are atrophying in our culture and much of it has to do with the reliance on technology. Ep 255: Four bad reasons Christians say they won't voteHave you heard Christians say we shouldn't get involved in politics this election season? If so, you're not the only one. Shanda has conversations with people on social media who blame Jesus for why we should stay silent on political issues, even to the point of not voting. Claims such as: Jesus didn't overthrow the government, so we shouldn't vote. Or, Christians can't change the culture, so why talk about politics? What should you say if someone shuts down your political opinion with one of these claims? If you are the one making these claims, how should you think about politics as a Christian? Ep: 254 Was Jesus a Socialist? with Laura Zifer PowellThe early church shattered cultural norms by selling possessions and property to support one another. Ep 251: Why does God ask questions? The way you answer questions reveals more than you might think. If God knows everything, why does He ask questions? Ep 249: Speak up or shut up - the right response to a hostile cultureThe mockery of the Last Supper during the opening ceremonies of the Olympics isn't suprising. What is suprising is the response of many in the church who scold Christians for defending Christianity. Is everyone invited to partake of the Last Supper? (Matt 6:6) Shanda answers the following questions to help us understand how to hear from God: What does the Bible say about a prayer closet? What does the Bible say about hearing God’s voice. Ep 242 Christianity isn't supposed to be comfortableLast month, a young Haitian missionary couple were killed in the field. A lot of people condemned them for being in a dangerous country where their lives were at risk, saying they had no business being there. The real question is: is Christianity comfortable? Are we supposed to pick and choose where to take the gospel as long as it's safe and we know it won't cost us anything? Shanda discusses the core of Christianity and why looking for comfortable Christiantiy is dangerous. We look at missionaries who gave their lives for the sake of Christ as well as what Paul said in his epistle to the churches about his own missionary journeys. Where does the family gather to talk and are free to create? Are more words texted on a device than to each other?
