Episode 142 - Armie Hammer The Cannibal?, Black Bear, and Pieces Of A Woman
Happy new year and welcome to Episode 142! We hope you’re all “enjoying” the sequel to 2020 so far. We’re 2 weeks in and it already feels like 9 months. But even though 2021 has started off with sputters (to say the least), we feel we’re starting this year off right. Before we get into the show, we wanted to let you know that we appeared on this past weekend. That episode was their first official episode of the year as well, so we had PLENTY (that is not understated) to talk about. It ended up being a 6.5 hour show and we were honored to be a part of it. Be sure to . You won’t regret it. Brian and Jake are fantastic hosts. Now then… Before we get into the 2 reviews (4, if you count the quick mentions of “Extract” (2009) starring Jason Bateman, and “Strongest Man Of All Time” (Hulu) that we do at the end), here’s some of the topics we discuss on this episode: Dan got the 2nd vaccine Mercedes the stripper Wolf spiders Jack Reacher v Jason Bourne v John Wick Vinyl love and the search for a new turntable In Noise News we were going to talk about several things, but decided to give all of our time to the recent Armie Hammer scandal that’s developed online. When we get to the reviews, we’ve both watched “Black Bear”, Starring Aubrey Plaza, now on VOD), as well as the new Netflix Original “Pieces Of A Woman”, starring Vanessa Kirby, Shia LaBeouf, and Ellen Burstyn. As mentioned above we do throw in a couple of mini reviews for good measure. That’s the show, ladies and gentlemen. We’d like to thank any new listener that may be listening to this episode and we hope you stick around to see what 2021 will bring for HON. We definitely have a few things we’re cooking up, so stay tuned for that. We’ll be back next week with another banger for you. Believe that. Until then we hope you have a fantastic week and a beautiful start to your 2021. We'll talk to you soon! Peace! 🤘🏽✊🏾 Heroes of Noise Podcast Contact and Show Info: Website: Email: Show Twitter: Facebook: Instagram:

Bonus Episode: Patreon Ep 19 - Wonder Woman 1984 Review (SPOILERS)
Welcome to a bonus episode of Heroes Of Noise. As a little holiday gift to the HON Community we're making this Patreon episode available to the public. In other words, there's no paywall so feel free to enjoy it. If you like what you hear, please consider supporting . Now then, let's get to those show notes: Hey it's Dan. Welcome to Episode 19! On the last Patreon episode of 2020 we bring in friends of the show Melissa Sloter from Wild Pretty Things podcast as well as Spoiler Steve from Scene-it Cast to review "", which dropped on Christmas Day in theaters as well as HBO Max. Before we get down to business we spend a little time catching up on the recent holiday, I talk about how I almost burned my house down on Christmas night, Steve and Melissa do the MGK discussion that had to happen, as Steve has gone at him pretty hard in the past. No offense to my partner in crime, but I do love that Melissa gives it right back to him when he goes at MGK. Spoiler Steve is also a favorite when it comes to debating movies with us and that's why we love having him on. All in all... great guests. WARNING: When we get to WW84, we don't break it down scene by scene, but you should be aware that we do spoil the shit out of it. So if you haven't watched it yet it's probably best to skip this one until you do. Mostly because of spoilers, but opinions fly like gnats on this episode so we'd hate to be responsible for any bias we may cause. 2021 is here and we now have our bearings. Let's do things right this year so that we can once again celebrate socially with no threat or stigma. It's time for an HON meetup and there's no way that's happening until we get back to normal. It's been said close to 180 times, but now more than ever we need to be good to ourselves and be good to the people around you. Happy New Year *Podcaster's note: This is the last episode we'll be recording with Zencastr. I wasn't very happy with the sound on this one and the lag was terrible so I had to edit more than I cared to. In fact, I've never been happy with Zencastr but it did come in handy at times. Going forward we'll be utilizing Riverside FM, which is a similar, but better quality podcasting platform whenever we're joined by guests. It will also give us the capability to live stream and take calls -ins from our listeners. More on that later. Episode 139 - Disney Investor's Day 2020, Moonbase 8 and Heaven's Gate: Cult Of Cults
Welcome to Episode 139. It was a busy week for us last week so we're getting this one out to you late. It's also going to be a shorter show this week as we truly are squeezing this one in so we can stay at least a little consistent. Before getting into our reviews this week, we give you an update on our Dan built. It's now live so check it out and let us know what you think. As always we've got to do our thing so we spend some time talking about this and that. This basically equates to us playing a game where Steve tries to figure out the real lyrics to a song that sounds as if it's saying something racists. This week we did AC/DC's Highway To Hell. We then devolve the show as we discuss the effects of aging on genitalia (yes, really). Not to mention a slew of other random topics you've come to know us for getting into. We do spend some time talking about Disney's Investor's Day that happened last week, but we put it right out there: If you want an incredibly thorough breakdown, listen to Episode 359 from our friends at . Brian put work in, so give it listen. Finally we get to our reviews: Steve has watched , starring John C Reily and airing on Showtime. He gives his thoughts on the new series. Lastly Dan watched on HBO Max and is eager to give his review. That's pretty much the show. We'll be back soon as we're recording Episode 140, but we're also recording another Patreon episode. See how you can support us there and get some bonus content below. We'll talk to you soon. Be good. Peace! 🤘🏽✊🏾 Guess What! Episode 137 - How Do You Talk To An Angel?
Greetings, Citizens! Welcome to Episode 137. This episode was recorded on November 24th, but we got it out a couple days late. So that will explain the turkey talk. We’re just calling it like it is this week: This episode has us at our most ADD. Perhaps it was the coming holiday. Maybe we just were a little too excited. Whatever the case, it was a struggle to get to the reviews this week. After we get through our usual banter and a shit ton of tangents about everything from having “adult talks” with your kids to disco to Steve’s over pronunciation of French words and Dan's alleged love of Y.A., to Beverly Hills 90210 and The Heights (remember that one?) In Noise News. It’s week-old news but we talk about Wonder Woman 84 dropping on HBO Max this Christmas. Ready Player 2 is out The band Anthrax has a new graphic Novel coming out based on their album Among The Living Dave Chappelle has Chappelle Show removed from Netflix Reviews: Because we ran out of time to really dive in to what we’ve been watching, Dan gives some quick thoughts on finally watching Dexter (now on Netflix), He's also watched "A Teacher" (Hulu), gives some quick thoughts on "Unhinged" starring Russell Crowe (Now on VOD). Lastly, Steve and Dan have both seen "Spontaneous " (VOD) and spend some time discussing it. That, as they say, is the show. We hope you enjoy our chaotic chatter this week. We'll be back next week with more detailed reviews. Promise. We hope you all had a safe Thanksgiving and we'll talk to you soon. Peace! 🤘🏽✊🏾 Guess What! Episode 132 - The Haunting Of Bly Manor, No Escape, and Hatchet
Welcome to Episode 132! This week we're joined by our friends Spoiler Steve and Kova from Scene-It Cast. Right off the bat we want to let you know that though it certainly would be festive, the fact that this particular episode is a "Frankenstein's Monster", at least where the audio is concerned. When it was time to put the show together it turned out that there were multiple audio issues causing entire sentences to be inaudible. The weird thing is that it was with everyone not just one person. Luckily Dan is a Type A psychopath and had 3 different recordings going at the same time. (Extra, we know. But it saved the episode).Other than that one minor issue we had a blast recording with the guys from Scene-It Cast. Great conversations with topics ranging from Coen Bros movies, to Ari Aster, and the 2017 travesty known as "Mother" starring Jennifer Lawrence. As far as what we've watched and reviewed this week, we start with "The Haunting Of Bly Manor" (Now On Netflix). Next up we have a fun conversation / debate about the 2020 movie "No Escape" (Now On VOD). Lastly we review the 2006 Slasher movie "Hatchet" (Available on Amazon Prime Video). This one gets heated in the funnest way as the 2 Steves go head to head. It's great, really. That there is the show, ladies and gentlemen. A fine submission for the archives if we do say so ourselves. We want to once again thank Steve and Kova for joining us and making this one fun. If you're listening the day this drops we hope you have a great weekend. We'll talk to you soon as we have a new Patreon episode as well as Episode 133 coming your way later this week. Episode 128 - Man Of Steel, The Boys S2 (so far), Cobra Kai, The GoGos, Spree, #ALIVE, & The Babysitter: KillerQueen
Welcome to Episode 128. Yes we know we're tardy but we will keep telling you that this is only temporary. This week we'll just blame 2020 because these days you can literally blame EVERYTHING on 2020. But all of that doesn't matter now because ya boys have finally arrived. This week we spend less time on tangents and music and more time talking about what we've watched over the last week. The best part is that we both watched all but one of the films discussed on this episode. Nobody thought it would happen, but Steve has finally watched Man Of Steel and gives his thoughts on the film. We also catch up on Season 2 of The Boys (Prime) so far. You know.. since Amazon decided to do us dirty like that and keep us waiting week to week. We've both now seen the entirety of Cobra Kai (Netflix) and we spend some time talking not only about the series, but all about who was really the bad guy in The Karate Kid. As we get further into the show we also discuss the 2020 rock documentary The GoGos (Now on Showtime), which tells the legendary story of their rise from the punk scene to becoming the biggest all female act of all time. The only film that Steve didn't watch was Spree (VOD) so Dan gives some quick praise to the film to serve as encouragement for you to check it out. Lastly we give our thoughts on #ALIVE, the Korean infection movie now on Netflix, as well as The Babysitter: Killer Queen, the sequel to 2017's The Babysitter starring Samara Weaving. That, as they say is the show. Again, we're sorry for the late drop but be on the lookout for Episode 129 as well as another Patreon episode coming later this week. We hope you're all doing OK during the zombie apocalypse. Stay safe out there and try to keep your minds off of all the negativity in the world. It'll get to you if you're not careful. Episode 127 - California Fires, Vietnam War Stories, and Another Round Of Battle Royale
Greetings Citizens! Welcome to Episode 127. Once again please pardon our tardiness. Day jobs are a bitch sometimes and being that we're not getting paid to do this full time, sometimes the jobs gotta come first. We were incredibly strapped for time last week but we wanted to get something out to you. We planned on it coming out this weekend but ..well, see above. This week we bring you a shorter show but it still 100% HON. We held off on the movie reviews this week (128 will be chalk full of them) and we decided to go straight off the cuff. No show notes, no plan, just a whole bunch of riffing and a few more rounds of Battle Royale because we can't get enough of it. That's far more description than you need for this one. We'll leave you to it. Episode 126 - Poor offerings, Class Action Park Review , and Quick Thoughts on Away and Raised By Wolves
Greetings, Citizens! Dan here. Welcome to Episode 126. This week we kept it loose, press "record", and see where that took us. As a result it pretty much came out like any other show we've done. That means the tangents are flowing as strong as ever. Here's a list of some of the topics discussed on this episode: The Hell that is a birthday party Steve test Dan's biblical knowledge A psychedelic trip to the past The "bro-iest" movies ever John Mulaney and Nick krull We are The World vs Do They Know It's Christmas I also give a review of the new HBOMax documentary "Class Action Park" , and briefly talk about "Away" (Now on Netflix), and the new HBO Max Series "Raised By Wolves". Time to press "play". Don't get too comfortable though. 127 is right around the corner. Episode 125 - Lovecraft Country, Uncle Peckerhead, The Boys S2, Ted Lasso, Arctic Son: Fulfilling The Dream, The Pale Door, 1BR, Bill and Ted Face The Music, & Metallica S&M 2
Greetings, Citizens! Ya boys are back with another one. Since there was no show last week we knew we had to bring it this week. That's what we're giving you over 2.5 hours worth of HON. We do however start things out on a somber note as we address the recent passing of Chadwick Boseman. This one hit hard. 2020 is relentless. We then give you a full on tutorial on how to get fired from Taco Bell. We've both done it and we feel we're pretty good ta it. Henry Cavill comes up and we suddenly go from being hON to " The Handsome Celebrities Podcast". Because of that conversation we naturally move to music and Dan turns Steve on to the glam metal era. We quickly give our thoughts on the Exorcist reboot that's supposed to be coming in 2021 and Steve does his first live reaction to the teaser trailer for The Batman. Once we get into what we've been watching it goes like this, and for once we actually give you timestamps (don't get used to it). Lovecraft Country - 1:29:38 Uncle Peckerhead - 1:38:26 The Boys S2 1:47:50 Ted Lasso 1:56:40 Arctic Son: Fulfilling The Dream 1:59:03 The Pale Door 2:15:34 1BR 2:19:51 Bill and Ted Face The Music 2:22:55 We also discuss Metallica's new live album S&M 2 at the 2:30:19 mark This is the bulk of the show but of course there's more, and we hope you enjoy it. We'll be back later this week with Episode 126 and will also be recording another Patreon episode this weekend so watch your feeds! We'll let you get to it now. Peace! Greetings, Citizens! Welcome to Episode 124. We're calling this one "The Battle Royale Continues". It seems some of you are really enjoying this game. We didn't create it, but we have a lot of fun working it out on air. The first part of the show is the normal loose conversation that you've come to expect. But when we get down to business, we have three solid round of throwing beasts into a cage and letting them fight it out. Technically we decide who has to go and who is the ultimate winner. This week we're doing it with musical acts. Here's the bill: ROUND 1: Mötley Crüe / Bon Jovi / Guns N Roses / Def Leppard ROUND 2: Wu-Tang Clan / A Tribe Called Quest / De La Soul / Beastie Boys ROUND 3: Michael Jackson / Freddie Mercury / Phil Collins / George Michael Who do you think will come out on top? Episode 122 - The Umbrella Academy Season 2, The Rental, Sea Fever, Host, The Current Occupant, and Zoo
Greetings Citizens! Welcome to Episode 122. Pardon our late upload this week as we've both been incredibly busy. Let's get to it: This week on Episode 122 we made it a point to drop several movie reviews as we felt we haven't been bringing it lately when it comes to those. First up, Dan has watched Season 2 of The Umbrella Academy and gives his very positive thoughts on it, We then talk about Dave Franco's "The Rental" (Now on VOD), We follow it up with another thriller by the name of "Sea Fever" (Now on Hulu), We also discuss the recently released Shudder Original "Host", filmed entirely during quarantine, The Current Occupant (Hulu), and lastly Steve drops a surprise review of the film "Zoo", about a couple going through marital problems while being stuck in a house during a zombie apocalypse. When the reviews are done we read an email responding to our recent question of how people handle cutting ties with others for the sake of their own mental health. We then talk some religion, but this is abruptly interrupted as we got a surprise visit (possibly the weirdest yet) from The Dark Lord. Now THAT as they say, is a show. We hope you enjoy it. We'll be coming at you later this week with episode 123 and Patrons can look forward to another show coming real soon. Thanks for your continued support and have the best week ever. Episode 121 - A Celebrity Battle Royale, The Beach House & Ju-On: Origins
Welcome to Episode 121 This week we start the show off with some introspection as well as saying our goodbyes to Kelly Preston, John Lewis, and Michael Brooks. FYI: This does take us through the first hour of the show. In the next segment we get into a celebrity Battle Royale where we put Robert Downey Jr, Denzel Washington, Keanu Reeves, and Will Smith in the cage and ask ourselves if we had to eliminate 1 actor along with their body of work, who would it be. We let their bodies of work battle it out. You may be surprised who wins. Lastly we discuss The Shudder Original film"The Beach House" as well as the Netflix Original series "Ju-On: Origins". It's late in the week and the show is a day late so we'll let you get to it. We'll be back soon, especially if you're a Patreon patron. We hope you enjoy the show. Peace 🤘🏽✊🏾 Guess What! Episode 119 - Miss Snake Charmer, The Old Guard, Palm Springs, The One I Love, and A Rewatch of Harmony Korine's "Kids"

Episode 119 - Miss Snake Charmer, The Old Guard, Palm Springs, The One I Love, and A Rewatch of Harmony Korine's "Kids"
Greetings, Citizens! Dan Here. Welcome to the first of 2 episodes that you'll be getting this week. On Episode 119 Steve is out and I sit down with returning guests Joe Stark from and Leftover Brian from . This was actually going to be a bonus episode as we were only planning to talk about one particular movie but we ended up talking about 5. Before we get to the main event, Brian and I briefly talk about the documentary "Miss Snake Charmer" (Now on Amazon Prime Video), All 3 of us have seen "The Old Guard" starring Charlize Theron (Now on Netflix), Brian and I also talk about "Palm Springs" (Now on Hulu), as well as the 2014 movie that came from out of nowhere called "The One I Love" (also on Netflix and starring Elisabeth Moss and Mark Duplass). Now I want to take a moment to personally thank Brian and Joe for doing me a solid and entertaining my sick idea to review Harmony Korine's 1995 breakout film "Kids". If you're not familiar with the premise of "Kids" here it is: Kids is a 1995 American coming-of-age drama exploitation film directed by Larry Clark and written by Harmony Korine. It stars Leo Fitzpatrick, Justin Pierce, Chloë Sevigny, and Rosario Dawson, all in their film debuts. Primarily set during the course of one day, Fitzpatrick, Pierce, Sevigny, Dawson, and other newcomers portray a group of teenagers in New York City with hedonistic behavior toward sex and drugs during the mid-1990s. 2 Warnings: "Kids" is a very graphic movie that deals with some uncomfortable subjects and we definitely get into that. This is also a spoiler filled review so if you haven't seen it and plan to, you might want to consider coming back to this one after viewing. Lastly I want to publicly apologize to Rod Claerbout, cohost of , for being an absolute shit head and referring to him as "Dustin". I literally have no idea why I spaced out on your name and again, I apologize. Trust me that Brian and Joe let me have it when I said that. (This wasn't my best hosting job. I admit it) Brian, Joe, and Rebekah Dahling also host Number One Comic Books and I highly recommended that you listen to their podcast. Its super entertaining and informative. One might say it's edutainment, but they'd probably get ridiculed by Brian. I'm only half kidding when I say that. I'll stop with the rambling and let you get to it. We'll be back later this week with Episode 120. Until then, peace. Be sure to vote for Pop Culture Leftovers in the People’s Choice and TV & Film Categories at .
