Ep. 533 - Fort Riley
Fort Riley sits on the north bank of the Kansas River near Junction City in Kansas. The military installation has a history that stretches back more than 150 years. Early on, the soldiers' missions were to protect the overland trails that settlers were using to move west. Eventually, they protected the railways being built. The fort would eventually become important in training the cavalry and served as a training center for every major war. Today, it still is a working base with several museums dedicated to its history. Many locations reputedly have some strange things happening. Join us as we explore the history and hauntings of Fort Riley! The Moment in Oddity features the Rock and Roll Granny and This Month in History features the birth of Washington Irving. Ep. 520 - The Life and Afterlife of Joan Crawford
Joan Crawford was an icon of the Golden Age of Hollywood. Her dramatic looks and stunning ability to take on any character, made her a highly sought after actress. The actress' reputation was marred though after her death when one of her adoptive daughters wrote a scathing memoir that became a movie depicting Crawford as a horrible mother who was mentally unstable and abusive. On this episode, we will journey through the life of Crawford. A life that was very complicated. And perhaps this is why there are rumors that Crawford's spirit might still be among us.
