The truth is that they are really funny guys and new fathers and they share the stories of frazzled new dads who think they know everything. Episode 38: Gary Anthony Williams
Gary is one of the funniest guys I've met in Hollywood and one of the busiest actors around. He recently appeared in the Sundance grand jury winner, "I don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore", currently airing on Netflix. Last Summer he starred as Bebop in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 and soon you’ll be able to see him in the film "5th of July". Other film work includes The Internship, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, Undercover Brother, Soul Plane and The Factory. On TV, catch Gary in a fun new episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm, and multiple episodes of I’m Sorry on TruTV and Whose Line is it Anyway on The CW. Gary was a series regular on Boston Legal as well as Blue Collar Comedy. He recurred regularly on The Soul Man, Raising Hope, Malcolm in the Middle, and Weeds. He’s also the voice of the award winning music show “Unsung.” Gary and his writing partner recently sold a feature script to Lionsgate. In addition, the two just completed production of a pilot for YouTube Red based on their award winning DreamworksTV show, Life Hacks for Kids. Life Hacks has well over a quarter of a billion views. You can watch their live-action shorts, Snackdown, on Disney Jr. Gary also wrote and directed the animated short, Baby Stache, for Nickelodeon. In animation, Gary appears in several Disney animated shows including series regular characters on Doc McStuffins, The Lion Guard and Sheriff Callie’s Wild West. He played Uncle Ruckus in The Boondocks, Riff Tamson in George Lucas’ Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and both Mongul and Mongal in Batman: The Brave and Bold. Catch him in episodes of Bob’s Burgers, Rick and Morty, American Dad, Super Mansion, Scooby Doo, China Illinois and Black Dynamite. Gary is very pretty. Episode 37: Stevie D.
Stevie D is one of my favorite people in Hollywood. His upbeat positivity shines through in everything he does. Growing up in a small town in Kentucky required a lot of imagination for a kid to entertain himself. While other kids spent their days playing sports and doing homework, Stevie D. was creating mischief and dreaming of becoming a rock star. This could involve jumping trash cans in the middle of the streets on his BMX bike (no helmet, of course), or perfecting the art of blow-drying his hair. Hey, he was the only boy in a house with a single mom and three sisters. He also spent a lot of time watching variety shows and secretly listening to Richard Pryor, which he would recite to the amusement of his friends at school (although their parents were not so amused). After visiting Panama City Beach on a spring break, Stevie vowed to return there after high school and become a DJ, which is exactly what he did. Maybe he should’ve set his goals a little higher, but none the less, after achieving phase one, Stevie decided to make his next move. With two suitcases and a framed Elvis movie poster, he packed his car and headed to Hollywood. Stevie knew there were two things he really wanted: muscles and to entertain people. Chippendales was out of the question, so after a few years of struggling, his sense of humor and perseverance eventually paid off – he was appearing in fitness videos and telling jokes on stage. Unlike a few of his friends, his misspent youth did not lead to a life of crime, and the dreams of becoming a rock star have somewhat come true. After more than a decade performing in the world’s most famous comedy clubs, Stevie executive produced and starred in “Rockstars of Comedy,” a live concert film starring some of the most recognizable comics in the business, including Whitney Cummings (NBC’s “Whitney”) and Steve Byrne (TBS’s “Sullivan and Son”). At age 44, Stevie was diagnosed with prostate cancer, which is usually associated with older men. After undergoing life-saving surgery, he decided to write a book about his experience, “The Trans Am Diaries: A Hillbilly’s Road Trip from Stand Up Comedy to Cancer…and Back Again.” Stevie has appeared on television as a comic and host, interviewing some the biggest stars in Hollywood, before starting his own production company. He has created TV projects for OWN network, with more in the works. However, Stevie says his greatest achievement has been that of being a husband and father. When he’s not conquering all media platforms, he’s busy teaching valuable life lessons to his two little rock stars – blow drying and jumping trash can (with helmets)! Find him at StevieDRocks.com or on twitter and instagram @Steviedrocks. And check out his show, The Stevie D Show on actors entertainment.com

He is simply one of the greatest character actors we've ever known. He can play the Grand Master of the KKK in Mississippi Burning and then play "Needle Nosed Ned Ryerson" in Groundhog Day. His 254 credits on IMDb are the most I've ever seen and represent the filmography of most of our lives. Memento, Thelma and Louise, Sneakers, to now recurring on Californication, Silicon Valley, The Goldbergs, and One Day at a Time. And you'll hear why. He is a master story-teller. From growing up in a dry small town in Texas where dancing is outlawed (yes, just like Footloose), to his early theatre days, to raising his own children in Los Angeles, Stephen is open and has a fascinating outlook on life. He has also worked with every actor today. The game should really be "6 Degrees of Stephen Tobolowsky" You may also know him from his own phenomenal podcast "The Tobolowsky Files" or his new book "My Adventures with God". Besides his star turn on "Celebrity Apprentice" he and Teller created and starred in the hit shows, "Penn and Teller: Bullshit!", and "Penn and Teller: Fool Us". His latest best-selling book “Presto, How I Made 100 lbs Disappear And Other Magical Tales” will be out in paperback June 6th”. But aside from one of the most prolific careers anyone has ever had, he is also a wonderful father to his two kids, Zolten and Moxie. We talked for almost two hours about so many different things that I had to break it up into 2 parts. You'll get Penn's view on Parenthood and how his parents brought him up. He's an amazing guy and he was funny, open, and really smart. I would've talked for hours longer but he was off to an upcoming TV appearance that I can't mention. You'll know him best as the "Caveman" from the Geico commercials, but John Lehr is an accomplished actor, writer, director, and show runner. He co-created the shows "10 Items or Less" for TBS, "Quick Draw" for Hulu, and "Jail Bait" for Hulu. But today we talk about parenting. The tale of his parents staying together till the kids went to college is absolutely amazing. The story of making 60 grand a week to play a mute is phenomenal. And the fable of the night he spent in a Santa Barbara Jail on acid is unbelievable. (John has been sober for a long time now). One of my favorite story tellers we've had on the podcast. His raw honesty is so refreshing. There's a reason his shows do so well. He's a fantastic family guy now but his "back story" is great fodder for the sit-com world he's helping create. Episode 26: Jo Koy
Jo Koy has come a long way from his modest beginnings at a Las Vegas coffee house. As one of today’s vastly growing stand-up comedians, Koy sells-out comedy clubs & theaters across the nation with his infectious, explosive energy onstage. The comedian pulls inspiration from his family, specifically his son, that inspires humor across all boundaries. Koy, who was raised in Tacoma, WA, credits his mother for his comedic and acting talents. She encouraged him to participate in school talent shows and to hold impromptu performances for his family and friends. This loving support led to performances at a Las Vegas coffee house, and inspired a move to Los Angeles. In 2005, Koy had the “opportunity of a lifetime,” when he performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He became one of a select few comics to receive a standing ovation on the show. Since then, Koy has had two highly-rated and successful comedy specials on Comedy Central, Don’t Make Him Angry and Lights Out. In 2017, Koy will be releasing his 3rd comedy special, Jo Koy: Live from Seattle as a Netflix Original on March 28th world-wide. Today, the comedian tours across the nation, and can be heard as a weekly guest on the popular podcast, The Adam Carolla Show. Koy recently joined the Podcast One family and host’s the weekly podcast, The Koy Pond. For more info on the podcast and tour dates, please visit: Jokoy.com. Koy has also appeared on over 100 episodes of Chelsea Lately as a season regular roundtable guest. Other appearances include: VH1, World’s Funniest Fails, The Joy Behar Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Last Call with Carson Daly and Jamie Foxx: Laffapalooza. Jo's honesty about his upbringing and his kids is not only hilarious but inspiring to all parents out there. I'm really excited for everyone to hear this one.

This podcast makes me soooo happy. This dude is the real f'ing deal. I love it when good things happen to amazing people. I met Rocco at the GI Film Festival with Mat Best, Jarred Taylor and the rest of his Article 15/Youtube Star posse. They were showcasing their 1.2 million dollar crowd funded movie, "Range 15" to rave reviews. He's a real American Hero who served 3 combat deployments as a Ranger, then served as a Federal Agent, then became a youtube star, and now is about to become a TV star with a big pilot he's shooting this month. Oh, and he has 6 KIDS! Here's his official bio: Vincent “Rocco” Vargas was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, California. After several years of college baseball, Vincent enlisted in the US Army and went on to serve 3 combat deployments with 2nd Battalion of the elite 75th Ranger Regiment. After 4 years of active duty service to his country, he joined the U.S. Army Reserves and continue his service. In 2009 he became a Federal Agent with the Department of Homeland Security, and was a BORSTAR Agent with the Special Operations Group attached to BORTAC. Currently one of the owners of the Article 15 "Empire", Leadslingers Whiskey, Warfighter Tobacco and more. He is married and a father of 6 children and lives in Texas.
