Lectionary Podcast

The Lectionary Podcast will be a weekly devotional show based on selected readings from the Revised Common Lectionary. Each episode contains a scripture reading and interpretation along with a practical take away. For many attending faith communities that use the Revised Common Lectionary the readings can easily feel irrelevant. They can fade into “just a part of the service” with no real application for our own spiritual journeys. The more scripture is read out of the context of it’s own origin and placed in a foreign setting without bridging the gap for modern hearers, the more powerless it seems to become. We often wonder what it was like “back then” and although the Bible doesn’t always provide for us specific information or “answers” about the daily life of it’s writers it does give us insight into the way they perceived God engaging the world around them. Sometimes we realize our contexts are so different, but many times we see that some of the very things we struggle with on a regular basis have been present throughout the spiritual history of humanity. Episodes of the Lectionary Podcast will post every Monday mornings and will be for the upcoming Sunday’s liturgy.
