Too Opinionated Interview: Jason Diaz

Too Opinionated Interview: Jason Diaz
Introducing Jason Diaz, the Toronto-born actor making his talent known in Amazon’s upcoming Stephen King thriller The Institute which came out on July 13th. A former MMA fighter turned actor, Jason brings raw physicality, razor-sharp discipline, and deep emotional grit to his breakout role as Tony, a cold and calculating orderly whose sinister presence will haunt viewers long after the credits roll. Based on King’s bestselling novel, The Institute is set inside a secret facility where gifted children are held against their will—and Jason’s chilling performance as a manipulative enforcer is one of the show’s most powerful surprises. It’s his darkest and most demanding role yet, showcasing the fierce energy and layered subtlety he’s fast becoming known for. A first-generation Canadian of Portuguese descent, Jason grew up in a working-class Toronto family and trained seriously in combat sports before making a late pivot to acting at 21. Since then, he’s built an impressive resume with recurring roles on Vampire Academy, The 100, Charmed, and The Bold Type. He also appears in this season of Tracker on CBS and he recently starred in A Best Selling Kind of Love on Hallmark. Want to watch: YouTube Meisterkhan Pod (Please Subscribe)

Too Opinionated Interview: Paul Berkowitz
Paul Berkowitz is the nation’s leading authority on the history and evolution of law enforcement in the National Park Service (NPS). He has served as an expert witness in federal court, and as a guest instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. He is the author of several books about NPS law enforcement, and continues to write and serve as an instructor and guest speaker at police academies, colleges and universities, and seminars across the country. A recent report by CBS News cites that as federal policies and staffing levels rapidly change in the name of government efficiency, park and historical sites across the United States are in jeopardy of losing out on important federal protections. The National Park System Advisory Board was quietly dissolved in May. Across the entire National Park Service, 13 percent of employees were pushed out since January, a loss of up to 3,000 workers. With nearly $1 billion in budget cuts to the National Park Service proposed for next year, national parks advocates estimate 350 additional historical, cultural or natural sites nationwide are at risk of closing. Add to this dilemma, the fact that park staff was already reduced and overworked before the Trump Administration cuts began. Paul uncovered a fascinating history of crime and crime-fighting in our national parks and forests that goes back over a century. His research and writing have served to debunk many of the popular myths about the “ranger image,” shedding light on the critical law enforcement role that rangers have long played in our national parks and other public lands. Much of this research was first chronicled in his seminal book, U.S. Rangers – the Law of the Land (CAT Publishing, 1991 – 1995). Paul’s career was also distinguished by his , reporting, writing, and even testifying before a Congressional subcommittee about government corruption, up to and including illegal bugging activities and cover-up of high-level management misconduct. Some of those events and activities are chronicled in his award-winning book, The Case of the Indian Trader: Billy Malone and the National Park Service Investigation at Hubbell Trading Post (University of New Mexico Press, 2011).* Paul’s third book, Legacy of the Yosemite Mafia – the Ranger Image and Noble Cause Corruption in the National Park Service (Trine Day LLC, 2017) draws upon much of his previous research, writing, and personal experience to expose and demonstrate how the failure of the NPS to acknowledge or appreciate its actual history – both good and bad – has undercut credibility, alienating impacted individuals and communities and ultimately impeding the agency in the fulfillment of its statutory mission. Too Opinionated Interview: Paul Larche
With over four and a half decades of experience in broadcasting, branding, and digital marketing, Paul Larche has built a remarkable career at the intersection of innovation, leadership, and community impact. Beginning as a young radio announcer in Northern Ontario, he steadily advanced through on-air and executive roles. In the 1990s, Paul became General Manager of Telemedia Network Radio in Toronto, where he oversaw national broadcasts for iconic franchises like the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays. Driven to push the boundaries of traditional media, Paul founded Larche Communications Inc., transforming a visionary startup into a major media force with five radio stations and a thriving branding and marketing agency. Under his leadership, the company pioneered forward-thinking strategies in both radio and branding, culminating in successful strategic sales to Rogers Media and Bell Media. Decoding How We Think This isn’t just a book about branding—it’s a guide to the hidden operating system behind human behaviour. The Divided Brain introduces a simple yet powerful metaphor rooted in neuroscience: our minds are driven by two distinct but interlocking systems—the fast, emotional Old Brain and the slower, rational New Brain. Every decision your customers make, every instinct your team follows, and every reaction you encounter in a negotiation or pitch stems from the constant tension between these two mental gears. Once you learn to spot which brain is in control, the fog lifts. What once seemed irrational becomes understandable. Sudden client reversals, hesitations in sales calls, or why one brand sticks while another flops—it all starts to make sense. Want to watch: YouTube Meisterkhan Pod (Please Subscribe)

Too Opinionated Interview: Eduardo Goncalves
As we approach the tenth anniversary of the date that Cecil the lion was lured out of the protected area and wounded with an arrow, so that an American recreational big-game trophy hunter could then track the wounded majestic 13-year-old African lion (who lived in Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe) and murder him on July 1st, 2015. Animal activist and best selling author, Eduardo Goncalves, continues his fight to ban trophy hunting with appearances, interviews and three new books. There is just to much disturbing information collected by best selling author, Eduardo Goncalves, to cover in just one book. So, the publisher decided to create a trophy hunters trilogy of books. So, the publisher repackaged the material into a trilogy - “Twenty Elephants in Seventy-Five Minutes," “Shoot One Lion – Get One Free” & “Mainlining on Heroin.” Eduardo Gonçalves has been a speech-writer for British politicians, run a government department in the Middle East, and helped save the world’s most endangered big cat – the Iberian Lynx – from extinction. A former journalist with the BBC, he exposed a major nuclear accident cover-up and secret human radiation experiments. He’s a conservationist who has advised the World Wildlife Fund, and has worked with homelessness charities on both sides of the Atlantic. He recently led a major undercover operation to break up Europe’s largest dogfighting crime syndicate, and rescued a tiger cub that was about to be shot by a trophy hunter in an enclosure. Despite a serious illness which has led him to become disabled, he has set up an international campaign to stop trophy hunting of wildlife. His work is supported by some of the world’s biggest stars as well as leading conservationists and African politicians. Want to watch: YouTube Meisterkhan Pod (Please Subscribe)

Too Opinionated Interview: Dr. Dave
Longtime fans of contemporary jazz may remember Dr. Dave from his initial success as a recording artist in the mid-90s, when his albums I Like It Like That, Smooth and Cruisin’ made big splashes in the early days of the Smooth Jazz format. SoCal based composer/guitarist Dr. Dave mounted a massive comeback in 2018, forming The Housecall Band and stirring up excitement among longtime fans (while creating thousands of new ones) with the 2018 release of Midnight Daydream. The funky, powerhouse, horn-drenched album spawned four hit singles, starting with the sultry, infectiously seductive “Sexy Cindy” – one of Dr. Dave’s biggest hits ever, ranking #1 for Smooth Jazz Guitar songs in the U.S. on Radio Guitar One’s Top 20. The song was named for Cindy Sanchez Medina, Miss Santander, Colombia 2018, who appeared in the much-viewed YouTube video. Dr. Dave’s got another magnificent female muse in mind on his latest single, the cleverly titled “Reserved for Abbie,” a seductive, deeply passionate ballad expressing his enduring affection for a onetime girlfriend who lived several states away. In addition to the across-the-board success of “Sexy Cindy,” Dr. Dave’s return to contemporary jazz with Midnight Daydream led to a prolific flow of radio and streaming hits, including the guitarist’s all-time top streamed song “Cecil’s Groove,” currently at 3.7M+ streams on Spotify. The title track “Midnight Daydream” earned a multitude of accolades: #1 most added on the Radio Wave Internet Airplay Chart; #5 on the SmoothJazz.com Radar Chart; #9 on the SmoothJazz.com Top 100 Indie Chart and #14 on the SmoothJazz.com Top 100. A third single, “Cabo Time,” reached #19 on the SmoothJazz.com Radar chart. The album’s fourth single was a blues, jazz, funk and rock track developed around the opening “Hey Hey Hey Hey” riff heard nightly since 2014 by the house band (who wrote it) on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” Dr. Dave and the Housecall Band followed up in 2021 with Carefree Revisited, a full band revamp of an earlier unreleased solo album.
