Fred Price interview Fred Price has been farming at Gothelney Farm since 2007, which is a 250 acre (owned) mixed farm with a further 130 acres on 6 year farm Business Tenancy (FBT). The farm today is chemical free (5 years at home, 3yrs on FBT land), largely because they have curated a wonderfully circular system where different aspects of the farm make sense when only considered together - those elements being Rosy's Field Bakery, Milly & Dan's butchery, Jess's 100% pastured beef, plus an element of Fred’s own work of pastured pigs, arable crops & plant breeding. The efficiencies and productivity they experience with this level of integration really rewarding to see. But this is only half of his story. Agroforestry has strong potential to help farms adapt to climate change. In this session we will consider the different ways that trees in agroforestry systems provide greater adaptation benefits in the face of temperature/rainfall trends, more erratic weather, and extreme climatic events. Agroforestry also needs to be designed to withstand climate change impacts.
