If the past 207 episodes has taught me anything, it’s that my hypothesis about partying in our plants was right on the money. In fact, I said it in of the podcast: our greatest health & happiness comes from eating way MORE PLANTS than you do CRAP. And The only way to guarantee we’ll ACTUALLY eat the plants is to take the HELL out of HEALTHY, which I think we did mighty well in this year ERA of the PIMP podcast. So with that I say eat your plants with a smile, monitor your mental health, love AND BLOW yo’self and i’ll catch you in my new projects so stay in the loop with me at taliapollock.com/hello so I tell you about future projects. Miss Simi Botic is a barre instructor, a health coach, the author of and the smarty yoga pants wearing brain behind . That last one is basically a ballet-meets-pilates class… but one that focuses on body positivity and self-compassion. (As in diet culture turns of phrase aren’t allowed and body punishing mentalities will be kicked to the curb!) This chat was all about embracing movement that we love in a self-compassionate way that has nothing to do with earning food or shedding calories. This is the podcast episode where we kinda just said it as it is: that there are ways to enjoy your studio or gym or road time because of the joys that come with it. Joys that have nothing to do with weight or body composition! And you know what, just like healthy eating, your workout doesn’t have to suck! My lady Tricia Huffman a.k.a. The Joyologist a.k.a. affirmation queen a.k.a. the shitty thought police (OK, enough of the a.k.a.s, we get it…) is my latest and greatest guest. The woman is more super than a superfood itself and as such, this lil’ chat was even more invigorating than my post-run heaped-with-greens smoothie. Tricia has a background as a sound engineer, has spent so much of her life on the road and pivoted her whole lifestyle to be one focused on joy, positive affirmations, cultivating career success and happiness, and staunchly askewing the word “should” and all that it represents. We’ve heard about making our bank accounts work for us, we’ve heard about making our businesses work for us… but what about our home sweet home? Jamie Gold is a home design marvel and the author of a new book: and her whole philosophy is that if you wanna get healthy, start with your space. (Home-office-turned-gym-turned-reading-corner, I’m looking at you!) I know I learned a thousand things about how to make my space work for me so that I can live my best, healthiest, sanest, life. 202. Less stuff, More Adventure! Practical Minimalism with Miranda Anderson
This week on the pod is all about less stuff, more adventure, more freedom and the MOST fun chats with Miranda Anderson. ICYMI, I had a major move last year where Jesse, Tommy and I carted our stuff away from tiny apartments in NYC and into an amazing home in the woods where plants grace my presence the minute I walk out the front door. Behind the scenes on this whole transition was Miranda Anderson, established blogger and author of whose book I listened to on repeat at least three times. In this talk we discussed how your stuff is holding you back from adventure, why practical minimalism is bound to bring fulfillment, why lipstick is freaking awesome and why open mindsets can lead to Puerto Rico or Texas or the woods o’ New York or wherever your heart leads you. I’d say this episode with Miranda left me with more than enough! 201. Ditching Disordered Eating with Plants! with Tara Kemp
When it comes to the good ol’ socially distanced plant partying, is the guest of honor. Tara specializes in something so, so important and so, so valuable that I have the utmost respect for this gal. She helps women struggling with eating disorders recover through a plant-based eating philosophy. Having struggled with an eating disorder herself (which btw, she attributes to crippling anxiety that was left untreated) Tara, who is pursuing her phd in psychosocial health, knows a thing or two about exerting control over food, and the mental health roots in disordered eating. Her story is an empowering one. But the empowerment doesn’t stop with this special woman’s journey… we also chatted about deciding how you want to interact with food, movement, and in deciding which information to live by and which info to take with a grain of celery salt. What I heart most about Robyn is not just her willingness to be honest and vulnerable about her shtuff, not just her mission to embody and amplify a gentle approach to wellness, but her super nerdy professional research background which she draws on to share cutting edge science-based, (and life-tested) radically simple solutions for wellness. This talented and wise gem of a human is a therapist, a speaker and a published author whose main goal is to help other people live according to their values. (Easy pea-sy, slice of carrot cake right?) Way back in the day when I first met Lauren, I picked her brain and she was generous enough to share her beautiful ideas with me. I had to have her on and share her wisdom with her sweet cat purring in the background. jaw-dropping impressiveness doesn’t stop at his credentials. I felt like I was in school during this interview because Christopher’s views, research, background and way of explaining Black veganism and cruelty-free eating was better than any binge-worthy docuseries I’ve ever come across during this pandemic season! His passion for social justice, racial equality, food, animals and the environment made this such an incredibly energy-packed plant party. I loved his points about how vegan lifestyles that are self-centered don’t really bring the impact that they could have. He schooled me to the apple core. In our chat that I never wanted to end, Christopher explains how we can fill our grocery bags and load up our dinner plates in a way that doesn’t cause harm and is in solidarity with BIPOC people and their history. When I first met today’s guest who is the wonderful woman the world calls Nicole Jardim (a.k.a. The Period Girl) years and years ago we were in a mess hall (at an adult sleepaway camp called Soul Camp). My friends were crowding her (back when personal space wasn’t a danger) to ask their juicy Q’s about their menstruation and I looked her in the eye with my nuva ring wedged in real deep and said “I don’t need period help, I don’t even get mine!” Well hashtag mega grateful only skims the surface that I got this do-over with her. In this chat, which I sorry not sorry but kinda sorry used as a personal consultation, we covered everything from my messy period moment at my Bat Mitzvah to my confession that I’m on birth control and *gasp* that I’m ready to break up with it. I learned a lot - seriously, I felt like I was a 12-year-old in sex ed class. Really, how was there SO much about my body that I didn’t even know?! Well, Nicole, whose new book, , came out around when mine did, breaks down some really need-to-know facts, dismantles the crazy wives tales and myths and sets us straight for once and for all that eating our plants helps our hormones, which I then tried and was perfect proof for. 191. COSMIC HEALTH with Jenn Racioppi! (alt. title: How Pluto Went Rogue and Ruined 2020)
Jenn Racioppi’s health journey starts off really really tough. In her late teens and early 20s, Jennifer got two gynecological cancer diagnoses which led to her having a hysterectomy, being launched into early menopause and being prescribed tons of medications for depression, anxiety and hormone replacements. Don’t worry, the story has a positive ending which basically blew my socks off. This was in the 1990s and when Jennifer ventured to San Diego in search of better healing practices, she came across a woman who did her (shockingly accurate) tarot reading. From there, Jennifer started to dig into astrology, the planets, the moon cycles and all things related and it wound up being the biggest step she’s ever made towards healing. Today, she’s a genius in all these things and even has a book coming out soon. But before we get to all that jazz, here’s your astrology 101 class where I admit that I’m as much as an astrology newbie as anyone ever and Jennifer says hilarious things like “Pluto? Sarah Adler really makes healthy eating seem really simple. Which is really good. Because her brand and business is called “Simply Real Health.” Sarah’s a real food lover to the core. And she’s really passionate about helping others love and eat real food with ease. She’s a rockstar nutrition coach, author of two stunningly beautiful cookbooks The Simply Real Health Cookbook and Simply Real Eating Cookbook, a new-ish mom, wife, lululemon ambassador and a really lovely, inspiring real human being whom I’m genuinely honored (and borderline unhealthily obsessed) with calling a friend. This is her second episode on my podcast, her first one, episode #41 is every bit as delicious, and I went into this interview if you even want to call it that with zero notes which is unprecedented, but I knew we’d naturally hit the goods because nothing that comes out of this woman’s mouth is NOT GOOD. And I was right. This is one of the most wonderful chats I’ve yet to publish. Oh and I can’t remember if I say this in the chat or not, but seeing photos of her kitchen inspired me to put a pot filler in mine. Talk about being the ultimate influencer. She may or may not have also influenced me to want to have a baby soon. Or at least start to think about eating more like one… Links related to this episode:

187. The Sweet Fruity Truth about Blood Sugar! with Robby and Cyrus of Mastering Diabetes
This is only the third time in Party In My Plants history when I’ve publicly had a threesome - I interviewed TWO guests at the same time, you silly goose! I had an incredible hour talking with Robby and Cyrus which you will hear about in un memento. And for a conversation focused on diabetes, which I initially expected to be boring AF, I surprisingly and genuinely laughed a lot and have smiled thinking about since. Something that I found really cool about both Robby and Cyrus is that they were diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and, parallel to my story, they used that low point in their life to get really curious, learn more and dedicate much or their time to healing their bodies and then helping others. Their journeys fascinated me. Not only did we get into the sciency, brainiac stuff (how many of us can ACTUALLY define insulin and explain the differences between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes?) but we also got some great plant-y eating recommendations and fun backstories on both gentlemen. But the best take-home ever: you CAN and SHOULD, even and maybe especially if diabetic or insulin resistant, eat fruit, carbs and tons and tons of mangos. Orange you excited to hear? 186. Stop. Checking. Your. Likes. (Like, For Your Health.) with Susie Moore
My new friend Susie Moore is an incredibly successful and genuinely glass-half-full kinda beautifully accented gal. Our chat was a necessary breath of fresh air and was chock-full of the kind of life-changing wisdom that I think PIMP listeners crave like cookies. Soul cookies. Easy to digest. Susie’s an kickass coach, writer, TV personality, and author (her latest book is called Stop Checking Your Likes: Shake Off The Need For Approval And Live An Incredible Life). As we mentioned in this talk, she has done ALLLLLL of this and more without a single college degree. That, my friend, goes to show that lack of official credentials is way less harmful than lack of confidence and self-limiting beliefs. Listen to this episode and you’ll be motivated to quit checking yo’ damn likes and use that energy to instead challenge the negative thoughts swirling around in yo’ damn brain! Here’s what my podcast assistant Sinead says is one of my strongest interviews yet. Press play to hear: Why it’s time to change your beliefs around the things blocking you in life The magic of the confidence-competence loop Why success and failure are the same things just on different points on the timeline Your life history doesn’t have to be in the driver seat of your life today How to stop checking your likes and caring about what other people think Stop taking yourself seriously: we’re all gonna die one day! Why living a life you like shouldn’t be uncommon How to challenge the beliefs that are causing you grief Stop blaming social media… it’s not about the app Your worthiness is inherent and non-deletable - accept it! 185. How Healing the World Starts with Healing Yourself. This is Emotional Wellness with Brittany Piper
My guest today is one of my most cherished friends, . You might remember her from which I called “A LESSON IN SAYING THANKSFORGIVING US PAIN TO TURN INTO PURPOSE (AND TO TUNE US INTO WELLNESS)” -- it dropped on Thanksgiving, hence that brilliance I came up with right there. is a powerhouse speaker, an international activist, trauma specialist and a healing + wellness coach. She’s fits the bill of the most “practice what she preaches” er as she’s herself has overcome not just one, but many of the most horrific events any of us could imagine: sexual assault, eating disorders, the death of her brother and alcoholism and uses her experience to help others harness their hardships and grow through whatever trauma we go through so we can do amazing things. I’m going to cry just reading this intro. Britt and I chatted a few weeks ago as she ate a humongous granola bowl, sitting in her closet at 36 weeks preggo! The day this airs is actually four days past her baby boy’s due date. I planned this to be kinda a lighthearted chit chat about life being pregnant in a pandemic la la la but it quickly became a profoundly moving exploration into how to be strong and tender at the same time. I quickly shifted focus to grilling her on ways she suggested we work through trauma and thrive. Umm, hello timeliness. Thank you so much for lending me and my show your ears today and I hope this chat hits you right where you need it. As I love to say, the world is better when we’re our best, and really, we can’t care for others if we’re not caring for ourselves. Links related to this episode:

184. LAUGH WITH YOUR MOUTH FULL: Cock-Blocking Joy & Quarantining on My Fave Island (Nantucket!) with Georgie Morley
My guest today is Georgie Morley, a coffee-loving creative and photographer, the host of the , and the caring human behind that inspires joy and personal growth through compassion and self-discovery. She loves to share tips, tools and lessons learned all inspired by her own path towards personal growth, wellness, and spirituality. And coffee. Georgie to coffee is me to plants. She lives in my favorite place on earth, Nantucket, the 14 x 5 miles long island, exactly 30 miles out to sea off the coast of Cape Cod. You know when you’re doing a meditation and you’re told to close your eyes and envision your happy place? Mine has been Nantucket since I started going there in the womb. I love that place so much it genuinely makes me cry thinking about, which I do on a honest to god daily basis. So Georgie’s there, and I feel like her Nantucket-essence just radiates out for us all to catch glorious whifs of. We’ve known one another through the interwebs for half a decade but haven’t really deeply connected until I was on her podcast last month and now when we did this flip the mic a doodle do in one of my new fun types of episodes called LAUGH WITH YOUR MOUTH FULL. At the time of this recording I was eating some of my matcha mint chocolate chip date balls from page 275 of and Georgie was of course, sipping on coffee which she told me after she drank black and used a v60 or chemex to make it? No clue what that means since I don’t drink coffee even though I was a barista for a whole summer ON NANTUCKET but if you need info on college look up because she is the coffee pro. Press play to hear: How to lean in to what’s easy for you How to embrace your talents instead of running from success Lessons from the pandemic How to stop cock-blocking yourself in business and creative goals Why self discovery will make your life so much easier Notes on crying in the car Self care tools and advice for depression sufferers The deal on coffee, cafe culture and why both are so great Why we should try to achieve goals without even telling anyone! Some awesome things to do on Nantucket Links related to this episode:

183. A Practical Chat About The Healing Magic of Mushrooms, Cannabis & CBD with Jenny Sansouci!
My friend Jenny Sansouci has been in this wellness game for a loooooong time. I pat myself on the back for being going planty before it was really cool in 2008, but Jenny started her own platform way back in 2006. Not that it’s a comparison game. We know Jenny now as the brains and passion behind Healthy Crush, and now the author of her new spectacular book, and as an amazing messenger on how to support the health of those dealing with cancer based on her experience of being right there with her father, CBD, shrooms and cannabis, research and hope in tow, as he’s battled pancreatic cancer. Jenny wasn’t didn’t always have a crush on health. What blew my mind is how Jenny overcame issues with alcohol, party drugs and a dusk-til-dawn party lifestyle. Way back when, she was the first person to dismiss meditation and she used to show up at work hungover. (Which sounds like my own personal nightmare.) Through hard work, an obsession with information and perseverance, she changed her lifestyle and became the well-known wellness gal she is today. Unlike me, Jenny is a research fanatic and I applaud her dedication to learning directly from scientists, doctors, mycologists, herbalists, and so many incredible experts in the cannabis and mushroom fields and then sharing it all with stories, so we less research-inclined can eat it all up! Press play to hear: How mushrooms and CBD can help you heal How Healthy Crush became what it is today An incredible story on quitting drugs, alcohol and the party lifestyle How to support a loved one through cancer treatment : Who it’s for, why it’ll help, why it’ll change your life The deal on supplements and why they *could* help sick loved ones Links related to this episode:

182. The “Fiber is Sexy” ‘Sode! With the Globe’s Favorite Gut Doc: Dr. B (Will Bulsiewicz)
Well, I had the poop doctor back on the show! was such a breakout HIT that it’s about time I bring him back again. And this round two was as good - if not better - than last time. You let me know. We started off this talk by clarifying right off the bat that Dr. B is more of a tummy doctor than a butt doctor. From there, we got straight to his main point: fiber is SEXY ok? (I originally disagreed but he convinced me in the end.) Dr. B’s new book, (which is a cousin to as we share the same publisher and hit bookstores within 3 weeks of each other!) will change your life and educate you on how the gut actually works. During these times when the coronavirus has the world shut down, it’s important to know that most of your immune system lives in the gut. In other words, hurt the gut, hurt your immunity! Dr. B.’s goal is to get his information out there to convert the processed food eaters to see the value of plants and start taking better care of their gut health. I think you’ll be convinced. And highly entertained. And maybe blushing if poop is not a topic you usually engage in discussion around. Press play to hear: Why fiber IS so sexy Why your need to eat as many different plants as possible Diversity, diversity, diversity! For health, health, health! Why fiber fuelling will change yo’ life! How your poop in the window to your gut health The average American diet is 60% processed foods! Why gut health is where it’s at Did you know: Your immune system lives in the gut! Links related to this episode:

181. EFT TAPPING FTW! And for the stress-zapping! with Jessica Ortner.
If you’re a follower of my work (and self) and a listener of this here show, then you likely know I’ve just made a comeback after spending months in a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad slump. I was depressed, overwhelmed and swimming (like doggy paddle treading) in anxiety that, of course, as our stress does - it turned physical. Tapping, what we’re talking about today, was pivotal in me pivoting out of my overwhelm ocean, my pity pool, my hot mess hot tub…. Here’s my interview with Jessica Ortner, skeptic-turned tapping expert, bestselling author of The Tapping Solution for Weight Loss and Body Confidence, and co-creator of the massively popular and internationally celebrated Tapping Solution. It’s intentionally my first interview back in MONTHS and I hope my passion for tapping, the very thing that helped me lure myself out of the low-vibe lazy river, is palpable. Here in this chat, Jessica spills how tapping can help us with basically everything keeping us down, how tapping impacted her personally, and exactly how you, yes you, can do it right now...without your houseplants thinking you’re weird. And by right now I mean in like 50 minutes because at the end of this episode Jessica and I do a tapping meditation together which you and your clean hands can do along with us to feel better now. In this COVID crisis, anxiety, depression and new emotions they probably need to invent words for are flying off the charts so this episode is my gift to you so you can experience just a little more ease in your everyday life. Press play to hear: What the heck is tapping and why did it help me so much? Why tapping is the practice to use during corona times Tapping vs. meditation: What’s the difference? How tapping can help you become motivated, reduce stress, settle anxiety, cure insomnia, lose weight, love yourself and even see financial success... A heart-warming story on tapping and body image How to acknowledge your thoughts so you can move through them The best new scientific self-love approach BONUS: it features a quick, powerful guided tapping meditation Links related to this episode:

180. What you Need More Than A Blender: MY BOOK! “Party in Your Plants” is Out!
Wowie kazowie my first book, “” is outie! And is sitting pretty as a #1 Bestselling New Release for over 2 weeks straight now on Amazon. Today I’m gonna introduce you to it. Literally, by reading the introduction… and other fun parts that illustrate 9 ways my book, “Party in Your Plants” will empower you to eat more plants! Because, while yes, is technically a cookbook, it’s really an empowerment book to empower people to eat more plants. As a review so eloquently says: “This book is a "food" book that isn't actually about the food. And I mean that in the best way possible. Party In Your Plants is really about the PARTY part - how to make your life feel like one that's worth celebrating every single day. Talia makes the (great and accurate) argument that in order to make your life one that's worthy of a celebration, you've got to TREAT it like it is. I really appreciate that she doesn't preach Healthy Living for Healthy Living's sake - she really makes it clear that it's a tool in your toolkit to help free up mental and emotional space for you to live BIG and BOLD outside the kitchen.” Fun! Hope you enjoy! And you can purchase my debut book, . Links related to this episode:
