Peter sums up the letter with reminding us we will suffer, don’t be surprised. So rejoice and let God get the glory in it all. What do we need? DIRECTION … 1 Peter 4:19 … according to God’s will — 1 Corinthians 11:1, Psalm 119:105 DISCIPLINE … 1 Peter 5:1-6 — 1 Timothy 4:7-8 DISCERNMENT … 1 Peter 5:8 — Proverbs 3:5-6, John 8:32 We have three tools to help keep every thought captive - to live unshakably (2 Cor. 10:5) … note: these are from the new study we are doing on Sunday nights, Tame Your Thought by Max Lucado PRACTICE PICKY THINKING ... Guard your thoughts IDENTIFY UFOs ... An Untruth creates a False narrative that leads to an Overreaction UPROOT AND REPLANT ... Weed out most unhealthy thought patterns and replace them with divine truth Closing thought - UNSHAKABLE - 1 Peter 5:10 … And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
