This is the story of my rock and roll butler. Welcome to the Rock and Roll Geek Show. 00:00:21 My name is Michael Butler. Thanks a lot for joining me. I really appreciate it. 00:00:25 Today is Friday, July 17th, 2026. It's 540 when I'm doing this. We're going to do it shortly because we have people in the hotel room. 00:00:37 A friend of the show is here that I met. We're in, what town are we in? Bowling? 00:00:44 Bowling? Bowling Brook. Bowling Brook. 00:00:46 Bowling Brook, Illinois. Introduce yourself. It's Jeffrey. 00:00:50 Jeffrey Zalapugas. Zalapugas. I can't pronounce his last name. 00:00:54 I don't know why but Zalapugas. Zalapugas. Zalapugas. 00:01:03 It's not my pizza name. My pizza name is Paige. So is that an Italian? 00:01:07 Zalapugas. Lithuanian. Lithuanian, ooh. 00:01:10 I don't know what they say about Lithuanians. Yeah, for sure. If I order a pizza, it's never that. 00:01:18 What do you mean? It's never a Lithuanian pizza? No, it's never Zalapugas. 00:01:21 Oh, it's Zalapulagas. Zalapulagas. That's what you're going to hear going back. 00:01:24 I've heard it all. Talk into that microphone. You can't butcher the last name. 00:01:32 Jeffrey Zalapugas. We're going to meet up with Jeff Thielicke today. That's who you were with last time when I was in Milwaukee. 00:01:40 And Chicago. And Manitoba. Oh, you were in Chicago as well. 00:01:43 Yeah. Thielicke got pretty wasted, huh? Milwaukee as well. 00:01:48 Yeah. Hats off to Jeff. He's a fun guy. 00:01:51 Sure is. As you are as well. He's a good dude. 00:01:54 I was telling undisclosed, beautiful travel companion Raquel how hilarious you got. You crack me up all the time. Last time you were there, I was cracking up. 00:02:07 Well, we had the gentle giant with us, though. Stirring up the pot. Yeah, your bodyguard. 00:02:13 Yeah, we went to a Mexican place. Did you know he came to? Oh, his wife is here, Winnie. 00:02:18 His beautiful wife, Winnie. Say hi, Winnie. Winnie, did you know he came all the way to see... 00:02:26 Yes, yes, he told me about it. Yes, he told me, yes. You okay with that? 00:02:30 Yes, I was. Where are you from, Winnie? I'm from Africa. 00:02:36 You're from Africa? What part of Africa? East Africa. 00:02:38 East Africa. What country is in East Africa? Uganda. 00:02:41 What is it? Uganda. Uganda? 00:02:44 Wow. I went to Cape Town, and I went to... Oh, fuck. 00:02:51 Botswana? Botswana, oh, yeah. Is that near Uganda? 00:02:55 No, that's south, south, south, yes. They had no... In Cape Town, because I wanted to have wild game, I wanted to eat wild game. 00:03:02 Wow. Cape Town, they had all kinds of wild game you could eat. Yes, they do. 00:03:06 Botswana and up there, there was no wild game. Yeah, Botswana is a bit a desert of a desert. There were game reserves, but there was no wild game to eat. 00:03:16 No, no, they don't. What about Uganda? Oh, Uganda is beautiful. 00:03:19 You have... Is there wild... Can you eat wild game there? 00:03:22 Oh, yes. Springbok was delicious. Yes, you better come to Uganda. 00:03:27 I'll... Can you have... You have a place I can stay there? 00:03:30 No, I'm kidding. Oh, yes, I do. We had... 00:03:32 I had ostrich carpaccio in Cape Town. Okay. That was the best thing I've ever eaten in my life. 00:03:40 Wow. It was so good. You come in Uganda, you'll eat the luwombo. 00:03:45 Luwombo? Luwombo, yes. What is that? 00:03:49 It's beef or chicken stewed in banana leaves. Oh, that's great. Yes, real tender. 00:03:56 Oh, man, I'm hungry. We haven't eaten today. Zellopagus. 00:04:00 We'll feed you. Well, it's nice to meet you, Winnie. Nice to meet you. 00:04:04 So you go back and forth to Africa? Yes, yes, I do. I do. 00:04:08 I had... We had a woman who was a friend... We started off as cleaning our house, but then she became a really good friend and part of the family. 00:04:15 She's from Cape Town. She goes back. Her husband's still there. 00:04:19 Her husband stays in Cape Town. She goes back and forth. Now I have my husband here, so I better go see my other family. 00:04:26 You get away from your husband for a while. Does Jeffrey go with you? Yes, for a break. 00:04:30 He hasn't yet, but we hope to go. You've never been to Africa? Not yet. 00:04:34 It's a hell of a flight. Yes. We got married in Fiji. 00:04:39 I don't know where that is. Fiji. Is that near Australia? 00:04:43 Yeah, above Australia. Oh, right, yeah. You've got to lay flat. 00:04:46 You've got to get first class. It's a shit flight if you don't lay first class. When I sell the house, we're going to lay flat in Japan. 00:04:56 Nice. Wow. Yeah, I would love to go to Japan. 00:04:59 Yeah, we're going to do some drinking and eating in Japan. Come with us. We're going to go. 00:05:02 It's beautiful, yes. Tokyo, for sure. Yeah. 00:05:05 We're going to go to Alcatraz. We'll let you know where we're going. Kyoto. 00:05:08 Oh, yeah. We're going to go to Kyoto, Osaka, maybe even Okinawa. Because they have good beer in Okinawa. 00:05:14 Beautiful place. Yeah. You like sake, brother? 00:05:19 No, I don't drink sake too much. But I do like a Japanese beer. I'll take a Sapporo. 00:05:26 Oh, that's too generic? Well, it depends on which. Now we're going to geek out on beer. 00:05:30 Because I'll tell you, if you have a Sapporo 22-ounce can, they're brewed in Japan. But if you get a 12-ounce can or a bottle of Sapporo, it's brewed in Canada. It's by Molson. 00:05:43 Oh, wow. I didn't know that. Microphone up to your mouth. 00:05:45 Fun fact from Michael Butler. And if you go to a Japanese restaurant, if they have Asahi on draft, that is brewed in Japan. But if you get an Asahi bottle, it's another Americanized. 00:05:57 It's like made in America somewhere. What about sake in that goofy barrel? I don't know anything about sake. 00:06:02 You're not a sake drinker? My good friend Shaki, Metal Moment, he knows all about it. But I don't know anything about sake. 00:06:08 How's he doing? We had dinner. Undisclosed Raquel came. 00:06:13 We had dinner with them on Sunday before we left. Went to a Korean all-you-can-eat place. It was good. 00:06:18 Cool. Glad you reconnected. Yeah. 00:06:21 That was the first time Shaki's seen me since the shit went down. But yeah. Yeah. 00:06:28 He took it all in stride. Well, good to have friends. Yeah, because his wife was, well, I don't know if she was friends with the other one. 00:06:37 So she met Raquel, and they were very impressed by how great of a person Raquel was. Well, definitely. This whole mission you've been on these last couple of weeks, having a partner in crime, is essential. 00:06:53 So I'm happy for the two of you, and thanks for doing this for Michael. So what brings you to Bowling? What are we at again? 00:06:59 We're in Bowling Brook, Illinois. The claim to fame was the first indoor amusement park. It's no longer here. 00:07:07 I saw the Ramones, actually, at that venue called Old Chicago. It's on YouTube if you guys get bored. But there was a riot afterwards, chair throwing. 00:07:20 Yeah. Oh, nice. And I got one of Didi's picks. 00:07:23 I should have brought that. Just a brag deal. Chair throwing where they're like, people wanted to see the punk rock circus or something, and they started to fight with the punk rockers? 00:07:32 No, I don't know what the uproar was. But there's some footage of the Ramones walking around Old Chicago in Bowling Brook. Oh, okay. 00:07:41 Maybe I'll throw that out on the Facebook. You didn't create that, though, did you? No, I don't. 00:07:46 No, I did not create it. But let's not get into that. It's a running gag. 00:07:51 My brother just became a rock and roll geek, and I asked him about it. He's like, oh, did I? You're going to meet him tonight, hopefully. 00:07:59 Oh, good. Did he bring his harmonicas? Well, we were talking about that before we jumped on this cast. 00:08:05 Well, if he gets asked, he needs to be prepared. Well, he doesn't want to assume. Do I need to bring my harmonicas in case he wants to blow? 00:08:16 Yeah, if they're handy. He does have them with him, right? He said he wasn't going to bring them. 00:08:20 Let me look in the truck before we get out of here, and I'll see. On the way here, go ahead. So Bowling Brook is just a suburb of Chicago. I told you about the claim to fame, the old Chicago, but it's probably maybe an hour, hour and a half west of Chicago, 00:08:37 just a suburb. You're pretty much in and out on I-80, but that's really all Bowling Brook's about. But we're going to see a blues band that my brother used to sit in with years ago called the Griff Band, so Don Griffin. So he's going to do one set, and then somebody's going to do just 00:08:55 classic rock after that. So we've got blues and then classic rock? Blues and classic rock. 00:09:00 All right. Well, good. Where are you coming from? 00:09:04 I live in a town called Lakewood, Illinois, which is next to Crystal Lake. It's halfway between Chicago and Rockford, as the crow flies. You know Rockford? 00:09:13 I asked beautiful Raquel if she knew what Rockford was famous for. Does she know? She does now. 00:09:23 She knows now. The band that has no past? Yes, exactly. 00:09:28 She thought it was where the famous oysters were from. You're going to have to. If you guys had time, the Hard Rock Casino has a huge. 00:09:36 In Rockford or in Chicago? In Rockford has a huge. We already passed Rockford. 00:09:41 Yeah, I guess you did, but I mean, you're not like. I mean, if you were a diehard Rick Nielsen fan. They got Rick Nielsen's guitars, right? 00:09:49 They got, I'd say, probably 30 guitars, probably 10 outfits. You know, all kinds of, you know. Rick, you know, from Rockford, living in Rockford, has a huge display. 00:10:00 I could probably forward some pictures there. How far is Rockford from here? I don't know. 00:10:06 Maybe, probably 45 minutes. We got to go back track 45 minutes? No, it's north and probably a little bit. 00:10:12 It's probably more due north and probably a little bit east. All right, maybe we'll see. Or west, rather, sorry. 00:10:19 West, so we got to go back track. We'll see if we can. I should have mentioned that, but you know that crazy knit jumpsuit that he's got? 00:10:27 With the, what is it? Is it Glenplaid? With the checkerboards, you mean? 00:10:32 Checkerboards, but kind of like offset. Those pants that he wears? Uh-huh. 00:10:37 You remember when he had the arrow with the red sweater and the goofy hat? Yeah, that's early, that's in color. With those knit pants, there's a pair of those on display. 00:10:46 And a bunch of his guitars. He can't fit in those anymore. I spent more time taking pictures of that than actually seeing the gig that we were going there to see. 00:10:59 We're going to Nashville to see them open for GZ Top. Nashville's great. Joe Pollock invited me to see Cheap Trick and Hart. 00:11:10 That was last year, year before? With the lovely Gina. That was a good time. 00:11:16 Did you go? Yeah, I went. They invited me. 00:11:19 We hung out. Did Robin get up and sing? Love Hurts? 00:11:25 No, I don't think they did Love Hurts. Did he get up and sing with Hart? I don't even remember if the kid was there or not. 00:11:30 Robin Jr.? Yeah, Robin Jr. I don't really recall. 00:11:33 I've been to so many gigs. Ann Wilson was in the wheelchair, but I think she's gotten better since then. We, on the way here, we stopped at the world's largest truck stop. 00:11:44 You ever been there? I've heard of it. I've never been. 00:11:46 I was a little disappointed. This is a big shopping mall? Thielicke told us, you need to stop at the world's largest truck stop. 00:11:54 So we stopped, and it's not that great. It's not like you guys have been to the Buc-ee's, I'm sure, right? That's what I said. 00:12:01 I said, well, this Buc-ee's looks as big as this. I like Buc-ee's better than that place we were at today. Buc-ee's has all branded stuff. 00:12:10 Yeah, there's one. Wisconsin has one called Quick Trip. I'm not a Wisconsinian, but on the scale of Buc-ee's, I don't know where they fit. 00:12:23 But they'll have stuff like hard-boiled eggs pickled, stuff like that, weird. Like 110 different kinds of beef sticks. I'm sure the Wisconsinians would know more about it. 00:12:39 But Quick Trip, if you see one, is a little bit of a trip. If we see a Quick Trip, we'll stop at a Quick Trip. I'm hoping we see a Buc-ee's, because I would like everybody to experience the Buc-ee's. 00:12:49 It's something you should check out once. Yeah, they're mainly from the south, I think, right? But they're starting to make a little bit of a jump up north here. 00:12:56 Yeah, I think so. All right, so thank you for meeting up with us, General Paulodoulos. I wouldn't miss it for the world. 00:13:05 I'll probably have a beer with you just to get off my sabbatical. There you go. My health sabbatical. 00:13:09 Why are you not drinking right now? I went through some health issues, man. I'm on a bunch of meds, and it doesn't mix with booze that well. 00:13:16 Do you have a stroke? No, I had AFib about three years ago, and then it came back about nine months ago. And then I had a situation where the blood wasn't pumping through the heart appropriately. 00:13:29 How did you find that out? Well, I knew it was gurgling, you know what I mean? Were you wearing a watch? 00:13:37 Because if you're wearing a watch and you have AFib stuff, it'll blow up. Yeah, so I bought the watch to monitor for it. That's why I'm wearing one. 00:13:44 Yeah, I started getting it again. And then I had an ablation on May 11th, and I've been pretty good since then. What's an ablation? 00:13:50 They go in there and zap some of the overacting areas of the heart that send electrical pulses to make your heart beat. What do they zap it with? Sound waves or radio waves or something. 00:14:02 And they deaden some of the overactive sites, and hopefully they get the right ones. And since then, they shocked it back in the rhythm and then did the ablation, and I've been okay since. So I've been staying off the beef, staying off the booze. 00:14:18 Staying off the beef? Yeah, they take you off the beef. Fuck that. 00:14:24 Fuck that shit. Well, they say your good years are between 63 and 73. What's that? 00:14:31 What do they want you to eat? Chicken, fish, vegetables, fruit. That's okay, too, but you've got to eat. 00:14:38 The beef is... Once in a while. Yeah. 00:14:41 So once in a while. You got money? Not really. 00:14:45 So you better... Sorry, Winnie. If he kicks it, you ain't going to get much. 00:14:50 You better hope he lives. I mean... I got enough to retire today. 00:14:58 Okay, good. So Winnie's not going to be homeless until she can die. No, no, no. 00:15:01 She's... Good. Yeah, yeah. 00:15:03 I'm sure she has her own money. Yeah. You have your own money, right, Winnie? 00:15:07 Yes, I do. Good, good, good, good. She's got a big compound back in Africa, so she probably, you know... 00:15:12 She mourned for a week and then be back in Africa, probably. But, anyway. Well, I appreciate you coming, Zellablogs. 00:15:18 No worries, man. Thanks for having me. So, friends, we're trying to get back to New York by Sunday. 00:15:24 We're taking I-80. I said this yesterday. We're taking I-80. 00:15:29 So if you're along I-80 and want to have a beer or something... I think we do get off I-80 at some point, don't we? Oh, I don't know. 00:15:36 Very soon, I think. We got two more days. So we're going to be heading through Pennsylvania, then up to New York. 00:15:42 So if you're on our route, friends, I'd love to meet up with you and have a beer or something. And, again, thank you to everybody who's been contributing to this trip. It's much appreciated. 00:15:55 And it's been so far so good. Oh, you want a beer? Okay. 00:16:02 I'll get you a beer. Hold on a second. Now I'm frazzled. 00:16:07 No, I wanted you to have a sip of that fine... Let's take a sip. Oh, yeah. We're all drinking, except for Zella Pelugas, 00:16:14 we're all drinking Modelo in the can and a Yeti knockoff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Thank you, everybody, for supporting the shot. 00:16:21 Take a sip of this fine Modelo. It's new. There you go. 00:16:26 Ah! You know what they say. The eighth one of the day is always the best. 00:16:32 This is actually the first one of the day. It's the first one of the day for me as well. Cheers. 00:16:35 Cheers, Michael August. Cheers. That's not going to give you a heart attack. 00:16:39 What meds are you on? All kinds of shit, man. I'll tell you offline. 00:16:43 Okay. Well, thank you for listening, friends. 00:16:46 Rockandrollgeek.com is where you can find the show. Find me on the Facebook, R&R Geek. 00:16:51 Rockandrollgeek Facebook group. Going strong as usual. Thanks to the sheriff. 00:16:57 And find me on the Twitter, R&R Geek. Find me on the Instagram, rockandrollgeek. Don't ask. 00:17:02 Please keep the donations coming. Without your donations, this show would die a horrible, putrid, stenchful death. And if you get any value out of this, please contribute what you can. 00:17:10 And I thank you for everybody who's been supporting so far. Zella Palougalos. We're going to go watch some blues and have some beer. 00:17:17 This is not going to be your only beer for the night. I've got a feeling. All right, friends. So I'm going to close out with something that Chris Cappell, 00:17:23 the rockandroll copywriter, sent. We're playing all songs that have road in the title. And this is from the Kinks 1977 sleepwalker album. 00:17:32 You know what song this is? I don't. You don't know the Kinks? 00:17:36 Only the hits. This one is called Life on the Road. Thank you for listening, friends. 00:17:40 I'll talk to you tomorrow.

This is the story of my rock and roll butler. Welcome to the Rock and Roll Geek Show. 00:00:22 My name is Michael Butler. Thanks a lot for joining me. I really appreciate it. 00:00:25 Today is Thursday, July 17th, 16th, July 26th, it is 9 or 4 p.m. when I'm recording this. 00:00:38 We're at a dive bar in Omaha, Nebraska called the Fontan Club. Supposedly this is one of the oldest bars in Nebraska. I'm here with Raquel, the undisclosed girl, the beautiful, beautiful undisclosed girl. We're in Omaha, Nebraska, this place is supposedly the oldest bar, it used to be one of the jockeys, there used to be a horse track, we're in Oscarbon District, whatever, Nebraska spelled backwards, 00:01:12 that's the name of this district we're in. You can hear some noise going on at the dive bar. There used to be a horse track here, supposedly, and all the jockeys used to hang out here and drink, but it's not, there's no horse track here anymore. 00:01:31 It doesn't get much diver than this place, but this is a good, we picked a good one here. And the owner seems like a nice guy, what's his name? Jace. 00:01:39 Jace, J-A-C-E. His great grandma opened it in the 1970s. Yeah, he said his great grandma bought this place in the 70s. Named, it's the Fan Tan Club, which is spelled F-A-N-T-A-N, 00:01:52 supposedly it's a Chinese card game of some sort. If you're Chinese, let me know what that is, rockandrollgeekatgmail.com. 00:02:01 We left Cheyenne, Wyoming this morning and drove seven, over seven and a half hours. That was one long drive. Last night we hung out with Dan Grossman, had a little too much to drink. 00:02:21 We went to a place called the Corner something, the Crown Bar. We had quite a few, the girl, the bartender there looked like she was about 18 years old. She had a nose ring and half her hair was white, half her hair was black, wearing shorts covered in tattoos, a little chubby, boobs hanging out, a little goth, kind of gothy looking. 00:02:44 It was a cool bar and we managed to pick some pretty good dive bars. We've been pretty good at it. We carry our own koozies with us. 00:02:54 It always impresses the people at these places when you bring your own koozie. Let me pro tip. We must have had about six or seven beers last night. I think Dan got a little bit, but while I got so drunk, not so drunk, 00:03:11 the room was spinning before I went to bed, but managed to make it through. Dan made it home. I think he had like a two hour drive. 00:03:20 They did a nice place, I'm sorry, Ken Grossman, what am I talking about? Ken Grossman, sorry Ken. You're now called Dan. 00:03:31 You're now Dan Grossman. Ken Grossman, the rock and roll Dan Grossman. We had a good time with him. 00:03:38 It was really nice seeing him. We're going to be driving to Bowling Brook, Illinois tomorrow. We're going to meet up with Jeffrey Zalapagalos. Jeffrey Zalapagalos, I don't know how to pronounce his last name, 00:03:57 but he came and met with us in Milwaukee. Joe Pollack was there with his girlfriend, his fiancee Gina. Jeff Fee-la-la-licky was there. 00:04:09 So Jeff Zalapagalos is going to be meeting us tomorrow. We're going to go watch a blues band if we make it. It's a six hour and 40 minute drive. 00:04:19 It's been fun. We're over halfway. Have you been having fun, Raquel? 00:04:25 A blast. Yes, we've been having a blast. So we're over halfway. 00:04:33 We're expecting to get to the undisclosed location in New York on Monday. A little tired because we've been driving all day. We had ice cream for breakfast. 00:04:41 We stayed at a place called Little America. One dollar ice cream cones. Left about 930 in the morning and had some ice cream cones and hit the road. 00:04:54 And here we are in Omaha, Nebraska in the Ashkenazic District. Whatever Nebraska is backwards. We're going to have a few beers here. 00:05:08 I'm going to say goodbye. That's a little update from the road. We're on I-80 the whole way. 00:05:12 We actually got off I-80. For some reason, it routed us around I-80. But we're back on I-80. 00:05:17 So if anybody's on I-80, on our route, send me an email. 00:05:22 Rockandrollgeek.gmail.com. 00:05:23 I would love to meet up with you. Oh, I also forgot to say that Joe Pawlak sent me a $250 Penske truck donation about four days ago. And I'm an asshole for not seeing it. 00:05:36 So my apologies, Joe Pawlak, my bodyguard. But thank you so much to Joe for topping everybody's Penske truck donation. It really helps, and I appreciate it. 00:05:47 Joe Pawlak, one hell of a guy. And if you ever—he likes to travel the country and meet fellow Rock and Roll Geek friends. So look Joe Pawlak up. 00:06:00 He won't disappoint. Trust me on that one, friends. Don't let him sit in your Plexiglas chair, though, because he might break it. 00:06:08 Joe Pawlak, great guy, and his beautiful fiancee, Gina. All right, I'm going to wrap it up here. We're not going to see Joe Pawlak because he's going to Rush tonight. 00:06:20 Some other band that I don't remember the name of tomorrow. He's going to ACDC on Saturday. So we're not going to meet him. 00:06:27 We're not going to see him on this trip. But hopefully we'll see. We might meet up with—who's the guy in Detroit? 00:06:37 Jonathan Travers. We might meet up with Jonathan Travers. I'm not sure if we're going to make it to Detroit or not. 00:06:43 But if we do, I'll meet up with Jonathan Travers. Paul from The Strangers is playing in Toledo tomorrow. I don't think we're going to catch that. 00:06:52 We might head that way at some point. I'm not sure. I would love to hang out and have a beer with you tomorrow or along this trip, friends. 00:07:01 rockandrollgeek.gmail.com All right, that's going to wrap it up. 00:07:04 Some people are coming here. It's a little bit loud. 00:07:08 rockandrollgeek.com is where you can find the show. 00:07:10 Email me, rockandrollgeek at gmail.com. Find me on the Facebook R&R Geek. 00:07:15 Find me on the Twitter R&R Geek. Find me on Instagram, rockandrollgeek, don't ask. JB Skull sent me a nice audio comment, which I will probably play sometime on this trip with some good advice about being divorced. 00:07:32 I look forward to that. All right, friends, I'll talk to you soon. Keep up with the road songs. 00:07:39 I'm going to play... Here's The Runaways. I'll talk to you tomorrow, friends.

This is the story of my rock and roll butler. Welcome to the Rock and Roll Geek Show. 00:00:23 My name is Michael Butler. Thanks a lot for joining me. I really appreciate it. 00:00:26 Today is Wednesday, July 13th, 2026. It's 5-12 when I'm recording this episode. I am in Cheyenne, Wyoming. 00:00:37 We're at a place called Little America. I'm with the beautiful, undisclosed person and friend of the show, Ken Grossman. Hey, Michael. 00:00:45 Hey, Ken. I saw Ken back in, when did we play Denver? June? 00:00:54 June of last year. Sometime last year, we played the Grizzly Rose in Denver, Colorado and Ken showed up along with a couple other friends of the show came as well. JB Skulls showed up and somebody else showed up too. 00:01:12 Nice to see you, Ken. You made a two-hour drive all the way to Cheyenne, Wyoming. Hey, just to see you, man. 00:01:18 I really appreciate it. It's nice to see friends of the show. Long time. 00:01:22 You're looking good. Oh, thanks. Yeah. 00:01:25 How old are you? What are you, 35? Something like that? 00:01:27 We're actually the same age, believe it or not. I told him, he got here about the same time we did and he recognized the Ryder truck. It's not Ryder, the Penske truck. 00:01:36 I'm in a Penske truck driving across the country all the way. We're on I-80 the entire way. We left San Francisco, got on I-80. We have been on I-80 the entire time, so it's going to go I-80 all the way to New York, 00:01:51 an undisclosed location in New York. If you are in I-80 anywhere along that route, anywhere east of Cheyenne, Wyoming and would like to meet up, friends, rockandrollgeek at gmail.com or hit me up on the Facebook or Instagram. 00:02:11 I would love to have a beer with you. We are having a fine ... What are we drinking here? 00:02:15 Modelo. Fine Modelo's and the koozie. Kim's got the Yeti knockoff koozie. I got the extra-tough soft koozie and beautiful undisclosed, Raquel has also a purple Yeti 00:02:30 knockoff koozie as well from Walmart. Take a sip of this fine Modelo. Cheers. 00:02:37 Cheers. Ah, so we were in ... Where were we last night? 00:02:44 Not Elko. We were in Evansville. Evanston. 00:02:47 Evanston, Wyoming in the middle of nowhere. We were going to look for a dive bar and there was no Uber, but the guy at the front desk, we stayed at the ... Something or other by Win Comfort Inn or something like that. 00:03:08 Anyway, it was a very nice Indian gentleman. No offense to Indian gentlemen, but when I looked in, the lobby was a little bit dirty and the Indian gentleman was eating curry or something and I got a little bit scared. There was going to be a shitty hotel, but it was a nice ... It wasn't bad and he was 00:03:25 a very nice man. He said, well, there's a taxi service that'll take you anywhere. Toss 10 bucks anywhere you want to go. 00:03:34 I said, okay, that sounds good. We went up to the room, brought our stuff up and said, we want to go to Spanky's Bar. Do you know where Spanky's Bar is? 00:03:41 Yeah, I know where it is. It's the female taxi driver, but I got to tell you, we're closing at nine and it was 8.15, so we said, all right, I guess we got to drive the Penske truck. 00:03:55 I really don't want to get pulled over for drunk driving in a Penske 16-foot truck. That would suck. As we're pulling out of the hotel, or I should say motel, it's more like a motel, whatever, we're pulling out of the motel and about 100 feet past the driveway, we saw the Highway 30 or Highway 80 saloon. 00:04:17 Tavern. Tavern, whatever. Oh, there it is. We drove the Penske truck back to the hotel, slash motel, parked and walked to the saloon 00:04:27 or whatever it was called. We're looking at places. Where are we going to stop? 00:04:32 Where are we going to stop? We don't know where we're going to stop. We had no idea. 00:04:35 I said, oh, I guess I'm going to have to blow Chris Grossman off. Not blow him, but blow him off. I didn't want to do that. Why don't we make it an easy drive and drive to Cheyenne and I'll tell Ken, hey, maybe 00:04:54 we can meet halfway or somewhere. This bartender was there and she saw us looking for places and we were kind of getting cranky with each other and kind of arguing about where we were going to stay. If I piss her off, Raquel, I start getting really bummed out and I start crying in public. 00:05:10 I didn't want to piss her off. The bartender came up and she says, oh, were you guys ... She knew we were traveling. 00:05:15 She gave us some pointers. She told us to stay in Cheyenne. We booked a place called Little America in Cheyenne. 00:05:23 You go down, you're driving down the freeway and you see $1 ice cream cones. It's kind of like a Buc-ee's. All these Buc-ee's ads. 00:05:33 Have you ever been to Buc-ee's? Have you ever been to Buc-ee's, Ken? We have a Buc-ee's. 00:05:36 Oh, you have a Buc-ee's up here? We have one. We haven't seen it yet. 00:05:39 It's probably about 50 miles from here. If you've never been to Buc-ee's, have you been to Buc-ee's, Raquel? No. 00:05:44 I don't know it. Buc-ee's is the ... It's like Disneyland of truck stops. 00:05:48 It is amazing. It is so cool. It's kind of like Buc-ee's. 00:05:54 I don't know where I was going with this. Anyway, we said, oh, Little America. I guess we're staying at a place called Buc-ee's. 00:06:00 We pull into this place. It's a resort. I mean, it's really nice. 00:06:03 There's a golf course here and it's a really nice lobby. The girls were dressed in Western. They have the uniform. 00:06:10 Wrangler. The uniforms are Wrangler denim outfits. They're cute girls. 00:06:14 They're younger. Maybe they look like they were 18 years old, but, Ken, I don't know what you're into. We all wish. 00:06:22 Cute girls. We all wish. So here we are in the room of the Little America Resort and met Ken Grossman. 00:06:34 It's nice to see Ken again and we're going to have a couple of beers. So I just figured I would check in and say goodbye. And Ken, anything you're not very talkative on this thing. 00:06:46 Ken's a little... Are you microphone shy? Yes. 00:06:50 So should we put the word out for you on the dating apps? You know Chris Cappell. I don't know if you know Chris Cappell. 00:06:56 I know of him. He's the king of the dating apps and he's always getting all kinds of girls from the dating apps. So if any hot girls out there are looking for a good looking guy in the Denver area. 00:07:09 Really handsome. Beautiful eyes. The seal of approval from Raquel. 00:07:15 Hazel. They're really beautiful hazel eyes. Long lashes. 00:07:20 Really gorgeous. He's got a brand new camper as well. You can go glamping with Ken Grossman. 00:07:31 All right, friends. Thank you for this. Thank you for joining us. 00:07:33 Thank you for listening to this update. Oh, I also want to thank Dan Garawan. Sent me a Penske truck donation. 00:07:40 Thank you, Dan Garawan. $100 Penske truck donation. The Penske truck costs five grand, including the insurance. 00:07:47 So I appreciate the help, Dan Garawan. I will talk to you tomorrow, friends. We're not going to talk to him tomorrow? 00:07:56 Yeah. Yeah, yeah. No, no, no. 00:07:58 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll talk to you tomorrow, friends. In keeping with the road shows, you know, the songs with road in the title, I'm going 00:08:06 to play, how about The Road Below Me from D.A.D.? 00:08:12 Thanks for listening, friends. Rockandrollgeek.com. 00:08:15 Ken Grossman, thanks for coming, friend. We're going to go to a place called the Crown Bar and have some drinks and some food. It's either that or the Rooster Saloon. 00:08:25 What is it? Redwood. The Redwood Saloon. 00:08:28 I don't know what the fuck it's called. The Redwood Saloon or the Rooster Saloon. I think we're going to try the Crown Bar, and if that sucks, we'll head to the Rooster Saloon. 00:08:37 Ken's going to drive us because we don't want to drive the Penske truck. There's not room for three in the truck. Well, you'd have to sit in the middle. 00:08:46 I don't want to sit in the back. All my shit in the back of a Penske truck, friends. Still made it without getting pulled over or knocked wood. 00:08:55 Here's D.A.D., rockandrollgeek.com, rockandrollgeek.gmail.com is how you can find me. 00:08:59 How can we reach you, Ken? Are you on the Instagrams or anything? I am not. 00:09:02 I get booted off of Facebook. For doing what? Somebody hacked my account, so they booted me off. 00:09:09 Huh. They boot you off for somebody hacking your account? Yup. 00:09:12 How does that work? That's okay. Do they put pictures? 00:09:15 I have no idea what they did. Yeah. I didn't want to be on there anyway. 00:09:19 Ken Grossman can't be found on social media. I'm not a social guy. I will connect you to Ken Grossman, ladies. 00:09:26 rockandrollgeek.com, rockandrollgeek.gmail.com. 00:09:29 Find me on the Facebook, R&R Geek. Find me on the Twitter, R&R Geek. Find me on the Instagram, rockandrollgeek, don't ask. 00:09:36 Someday I will tell you Rock Al's Instagram, but I'm not going to do it just yet. That's about it, friends. I'll talk to you tomorrow. 00:09:44 Here's D.A.D.

Road Trip in Penske Truck - Day 2
00:00:06 From somewhere in the middle of nowhere, this is the Rock and Roll Geek Show. This is the story of my rock and roll butler. Welcome to the Rock and Roll Geek Show. 00:00:24 My name is Michael Butler. Thanks a lot for joining me. I really appreciate it. 00:00:27 Today is Tuesday, the 14th of July and it is 8.35, I'm doing this, 8.35 p.m. 00:00:36 We are in, where are we, Evans, Evans, Evans, Evans, Evans, uh, Evans, Evans, somewhere in Wyoming. We're in Wyoming at a place called, Evanson, somewhere, somewhere in Wyoming. At a place called Highway 30 Tavern. 00:01:03 There are the all-star games going on right now. I had no idea the all-star game was happening. There are, it's kind of a dive bar, yeah it's pretty much a dive bar but they do serve food so we ordered some wings. 00:01:17 We got a cup, we're drinking a fine Corona, an undisclosed person and cheers. Cheers. Beautiful undisclosed person, do you feel like introducing yourself or do you still want to stay undisclosed? 00:01:33 Introduce myself. Do you want to give your name or do you want to stay undisclosed? I like to stay undisclosed. 00:01:38 We'll call her, um, Legit. We're going to call you Legit. I prefer Raquel. 00:01:47 Alright, Raquel. Raquel is the undisclosed person. We just ordered two Coronas. I'm going to make this short because I'm not going to stay here all night and do a podcast 00:01:55 but we drove, what did we do? We stayed in Winnemucca last night and drove to Elko, Nevada, ate at a Basque restaurant, pretty good Basque lunch, apparently there's a big Basque population in Elko, Nevada. I think there is in Winnemucca as well. We looked for a dive bar last night and we walked around, we were a little bit afraid 00:02:23 walking in the dark but we managed to make it back alive. The first place we were going to go to was the Butch Cassidy Hole in the Wall, Butch Cassidy Waterhole in the Wall, something like that. It looked shitty, it had fluorescent lights, so we said, ah, we'll look for somewhere else, maybe we'll go to the casino and on the way to the casino we found the perfect dive bar. 00:02:45 I don't remember what it was called, do you remember what it was called? Something tap room, but they didn't have any tap, oh, the Cheers Tap Room, but there was no tap, it was just a dive bar. That was a really good dive bar, so we had a good time, we had a few drinks and then came back to the room, left this morning and stopped in Elko, Nevada, had lunch, where we parked there was a strip club, it said, I forget what the name of it was, but it said Dancing and Diddling, and we're like, what's diddling, I don't know what that means, I 00:03:25 know what diddling means, it means, isn't diddling when you put your finger down there on the girl and you mess around with her, and I said, oh, huh, okay, it's a joke, then I looked to the left and there's a legal brothel right across the street and then there's an Asian legal brothel right next to that, one was called Ann's, what was it called, Mona's what, Mona's Dollhouse or something like that, Mona's Ranch, and then there was Anna's Ranch, 00:03:59 one had Chinese lanterns hanging out of it, hanging outside, and the other one didn't. So there were two brothels, then we walked over to have a nice basket lunch and got back on the road and here we are in Evans something Wyoming, moving right along in the Penske truck, friends, I don't think I got any donations, I haven't looked at the Venmo, but if you care to contribute, it would be much appreciated, I'm hoping to meet with Ken Grossman tomorrow, I'm not positive where we're gonna be driving through, I thought I was gonna be driving 00:04:36 through Boulder, Colorado, and I have to check, if I am, I'm gonna meet up with Ken Grossman, I don't know if I've ever met in person, if not we're gonna head up towards Chicago that way, I don't know, but look at the map and if I'm on that way friends, hit me up, I would love to meet you for a beer or stay on your couch or just to have some food, whatever, or we just shake hands, you can call me an asshole to my face and you can take a look at beautiful Raquel, the undisclosed travel companion. All right friends, that's gonna do it, I'm gonna close out with a song sent to me, we're doing all road songs, we are doing all road songs on this trip, 00:05:19 Kirk Crawford sent me a song, he said Michael Attach is one of my favorite Alvin Lee songs, from a solo album he did in 1973 while still leading 10 years after, and he did it with a country rock singer named Mylon Lefevre, all kinds of British rockers guest appeared on this album, including George Harrison, Steve Winwood, Ron Wood, Mick Fleetwood, among others. Anyway, you may not want to play it on the show as the chorus refrain of the song is, I'm on the road to freedom, on the road to love, that kind of fits, regardless it's a great song written solely by Alvin and he sings lead and plays all the guitar parts, safe travels. All 00:05:59 right, for you Kirk Crawford, I'm gonna play some Alvin Lee, thank you for listening friends, rockandrollgeek.com is where you can find the show, send me an email rockandrollgeek at gmail.com, hit the donate button at rockandrollgeek.com, all the ways you can contribute to the show, if you get any value out of this, if you don't, don't contribute anything, and you can find me on the Facebook rnrgeek, happy birthday Adam Gerstein, friend of the show, he's what, is he 35 today, probably something like that, find me on the Instagram rockandrollgeek, 00:06:33 don't ask, find me on the Twitter rnrgeek, and say goodbye, goodbye, Rock Hill, goodbye, and she doesn't really quite talk, all right I'll talk to you later friends, here's Alvin Lee, I'll talk to you tomorrow.

This is the story of my Rock and Roll Butler. Welcome to the Rock and Roll Geek Show. 00:00:23 My name is Michael Butler. Thanks a lot for joining me. I really appreciate it. 00:00:27 Today is Monday, July 13, 2026. I am somewhere on the road, on the way, we're driving today to Winnemucca, Nevada. We left San Francisco this morning, rented a Penske truck. 00:00:48 I picked up the Penske truck at 9 o'clock a.m. I told you in the last episode it cost me $3,600. 00:00:56 That's actually not true. It actually cost me five big ones, because your credit card company and your auto insurance doesn't cover truck rental. We are in a 16-foot Penske truck driving it across the country, all the way from San Francisco to an undisclosed location in New York, upstate New York. 00:01:23 We're expecting it to take us 46 hours. It's going to go over eight days, that's the plan. We flew into San Francisco on Thursday, stayed at a hotel at JFK on Wednesday night, the TWA Hotel. 00:01:40 Compliments of the undisclosed person traveling with me. Thank you very much. Beautiful undisclosed person. 00:01:48 Had a good time. We drank a lot. Let's put it that way. 00:01:53 We had a fun time. TWA Hotel is an interesting hotel. It's set up like the old TWA Airlines. 00:02:04 They even have a cocktail lounge in an airplane. It's quite interesting. Pretty expensive, but it was fun. I wouldn't have been able to afford it, but the undisclosed person put in the bill, and 00:02:16 I very much appreciate it, I've got to tell you. So then we flew into San Francisco on Friday. We met up with Craig and his wife, Pam, and their friend Dianne. 00:02:34 Is it Dianne or Diana, or something like that? Super nice woman. We went to Oakland, met with them for drinks and dinner, and we stayed in an Airbnb in Oakland, which was left a little bit to be desired, the Airbnb, but it had a shower, let's put it that way. Then we drove all the way to Ukiah, met up with Casey, Casey Crenshaw, and the girls 00:02:59 in Featherwitch. It was Erica's husband's birthday, and they were having a cake party, so we stopped, a cake, not a keg, a cake party. We stopped in there for some cake, and it was nice to see the Featherwitch girls, haven't seen them in a long time. And of course, there was talk about getting the band back together and all that, and I'm 00:03:15 holding my breath for that one, girls. Then we drove to Ukiah and stayed at a hotel in Ukiah, and then on Saturday, I had a Chad gig up in Fortuna, which is near Eureka. We opened up for a band called Shenandoah. 00:03:33 That was a fun show, a lot of people there, a good crowd, and they liked us. As usual, people thought that I was not a country guy, more of a rock and roll guy, but they seemed to like it, at least the kids that were shouting my name, holding up the metal horns, liked me. There was a cute little punk rock couple dressed as cowboys, and they were line dancing while we were playing. 00:03:55 It was fun. So then after that, the next morning, Sunday morning, we got up and drove all the way to the Mountain House and picked up the rest of my shift from the Mountain House, and then drove all the way to San Francisco and stayed at Don's Basement on Sunday night. There was nobody else there because the kids are being withheld, the grandkids are being withheld from Michael Butler, from Papa, because Papa's an asshole, apparently. 00:04:24 I don't know. I'm not going to get into that, but yeah, we stayed there, went to the Pinsky Truck Company this morning, drove it back to the house in San Francisco, loaded that Pinsky Truck up with all my guitars, all my amps. Did I tell you how much the Pinsky Truck cost? 00:04:42 Well, see, the insurance, your insurance doesn't cover it. It doesn't cover the lost damage waiver. Your credit cards don't cover it. 00:04:50 You have to buy the lost damage waiver. They're walking around showing every scratch. So I had to get the lost damage waiver, which costs $1,000, actually $900 and change. 00:05:01 So this truck ended up costing me close to $5,000. Did I mention that I need some donations? By the way, thank you, Ralph Miller, for contributing to the Pinsky Truck Fund. 00:05:13 You donated $125. Thank you very much, Ralph. You're a great man, I'll tell you. 00:05:18 If you'd like to help contribute, it would be much appreciated. It's $5,000 for a truck, not counting gas. We just pulled over for gas right outside Lake Tahoe. 00:05:27 $6.99 a gallon. 00:05:30 I never paid $6.99 a gallon since Joe Biden was president. I think I paid close to that. 00:05:37 But yeah, $6.99 a gallon. So we're driving to Winnemucca, Nevada. 00:05:42 We're going to stay there tonight. We put into the AI route us to some places with some good dive bars. This place is telling us to go to Winnemucca. 00:05:53 Hold on, I'll take you to some of this water. I can't wait to have a beer. The undisclosed, beautiful undisclosed person is driving the Pinsky truck right now. 00:06:07 I drove the whole way, but I needed to get a podcast in. She's going to take us into Reno. Stopping at Winnemucca. 00:06:14 The chat GPT said there's a couple of great bars in Winnemucca. Walking distance from the hotel. Or it's actually a motel. 00:06:24 So we're pulling into the motel. We're going to park the Pinsky truck and walk to one of the two dive bars it suggested. Billy the Kid's Hole in the Wall. 00:06:34 No, is it? Butch Cassidy's Hole in the Wall. And there was another one. 00:06:37 I forget what it's called. So we're going to do that tonight. And then we're going to get up in the morning and drive somewhere on the route to Catskills of New York. 00:06:48 So if you're along that route, please hit me up friends. I would love to meet up with you. A few people have. 00:06:57 And we're hoping to meet up with some of them. Depends on where we are. But thank you everybody who's offered to meet up so far. 00:07:04 Please look at the route from Winnemucca, Nevada to Catskills of New York. And let's meet up friends. So that's the update for day one. 00:07:18 The dive bar road trip. The dive bar road trip with all Butler's shit in the back of the Pinsky truck. I got about 30 guitars. 00:07:27 An SVT-810. An SVT-410. A little PV-412. 00:07:34 Bass amp. All the bass heads. What else do I have? 00:07:43 The PV Mark IV that I've had since the Stevie Stiletto days. Two kayaks. A log splitter. 00:07:54 An electric bike. Which I'm selling. So if anybody wants an electric bike, hit me up. 00:08:03 What else do I have? All of my albums. About 1,000 record albums. 00:08:08 All my rock and roll books. Which is about 2,000 rock and roll books. All my clothes. 00:08:17 And various other things. Driving it across the country. Goodbye, California. 00:08:24 I'm coming back on the 24th because I have an AZDZ gig. And then I'm going to fly right back. Yes, it costs me money to play. 00:08:33 Yes, I'm paying to play. But hey, I want to play. And I have not found a band yet in New York. 00:08:37 I will. I'll find more than one band in New York. But I like playing with Chad. 00:08:41 I like playing with the Butlers. And I like playing with the AZDZ band. And I like playing with the Plunkets. 00:08:46 And every other band that I'm in. As long as I can do it, I'm going to do it. Damn it. 00:08:53 Why not? But in the meantime, we're going to enjoy these eight days on the road. And in honor of this road trip. 00:09:01 This dive bar road trip. With the beautiful undisclosed person at the wheel. I'm going to be playing all songs about the road. 00:09:11 And we're going to start off with the first one. By the great band Foghat. Eight Days on the Road. 00:09:18 I think this is from the Rock and Roll album. It's got a rock and a roll. And like a dinner roll on the cover. 00:09:24 This one goes out to you, Chuck Spear. Because I know he's a huge Foghat fan. He's a fan of the hat. 00:09:30 All right. I will talk to you tomorrow. There's a little update from the road. 00:09:36 It's beautiful on this drive. I'll tell you. We're right outside Lake Tahoe. 00:09:40 And there's all kinds of mountains. It's just a beautiful view. 00:09:44 Not worth the $6.99 a gallon gas. But yeah. 00:09:48 All right. Thank you for listening, friends. If you get any value out of these daily updates. 00:09:54 Little dog days in advance. In July. If you get any value. 00:10:01 You'd really be helping me out with this road trip. Helping me out with the Penske truck. Rental. 00:10:07 I'm putting it all on the credit card. So at least I'll get some points. I think. 00:10:11 I'll get some time to pay it off. 22% interest. Yes. 00:10:17 The end is in sight. What do you call it? The end of the rainbow is going to be worth it. 00:10:25 I'm convinced of it. Because I like the person I'm with. And it's going to be a lot better than it was. Hopefully the grandkids will 00:10:37 eventually come back into my life. But we'll see. It's not my doings. 00:10:43 And that's all I can say of that. Because the last episode I got a bunch of shit about talking about my family life. But hey. 00:10:51 I'm public enemy number one. Enough of this. I'm not going to give you my problems. 00:10:56 Thank you for listening. It's going to be great. It's going to work out great. And it's all going to end 00:11:04 like everybody wants it to end. Except I won't be dead. I'll talk to you soon. 00:11:11 Please keep the donations coming. Without your donations this show will die. A horrible, putrid, stench filled death. 00:11:16 Rockandrollgeek.com I'd love to meet up with you. Find me on the Facebook. 00:11:23 Rockandrollgeek Facebook group. Going strong. And thank you to Kirk Crawford for not sending me that new Rolling Stones album. 00:11:30 Which I have not listened to yet. But I'm going to. I'll talk to you tomorrow. 00:11:35 Here's Foghat. Eight days on the road. 00:12:19 Rockandrollgeek.com 00:12:41 Rockandrollgeek.com Rockandrollgeek.com Ain't no rest tonight. 00:12:57 Broken, busted. Standing on a county line. I've been traveling. 00:13:06 Eight days on the road. That's right. Eight days on the road. 00:13:17 Driving me through the night. There ain't no time. Ain't no time. 00:13:24 Ain't no rest tonight. 00:13:40 I'm out here thinking. Thinking about what I've done. That's why. 00:13:49 That's why. Eight days on the road. That's right. 00:13:56 Eight days on the road. Driving me through the night. I'm coming home. 00:14:06 I won't be long.
