Time's Running Out To File Roofing Claims on Ida Damage

Time's Running Out To File Roofing Claims on Ida Damage
Michael: Welcome to the roof crafters podcast. My name is Michael Warren. I'm the director of operations at roof crafters. And in this podcast, we talk about everything roofing so we can provide our customers with the best up to date information so they can make the best buying decisions for their home. Michael, Chuck: how are you this morning? Good Michael: morning, Chuck. I'm good. How Chuck: are you doing good. Uh, you know, uh, we were talking a minute before we started recording for this and, uh, I, I, I love the topic because you can easily see what's going on with it. That there's something going on with these claims from Ida. So. I know you wanna talk about, uh, I'm not sure how you put it, that the window is closing on. I'm gonna let you dig into that. But, uh, obviously if you've got a claim situation, you certainly want to get on top of it. So I'm gonna let you dive into this one and, and tell the folks what is going on out there with these Ida claims. Michael: Yeah, sure. Uh, so, you know, there's a, there's a lot of information out there. You know, a lot of companies saying, you know, they want to help you and they they'll do this, that and the other. But you know, the fact, the fact remains that as we work around in our local community, we see so many tarps everywhere, you know, and it could be a tarp. Your homeowner installed. It could be a tarp that an out of town roofer installed and is no longer answer the phones, but we have to assume that. There's a lot of claims out there that have not been satisfied. You know, that the customer doesn't have what they need to get their home fixed, or maybe they haven't filed the claim at all. Uh, What we wanna do is we wanna try to reach out to these customers and let them know, like, look, there's still help to be had. No, you don't have to hire a lawyer. No, you don't have to hire a public adjuster. You can reach out to a local roofer. Louisiana roof. Crafters is local in the, the major markets, new Orleans, Baton Rouge, Madisonville, Mandeville, Covington. A lot of the areas that were affected by the storm will apply new Orleans. So we're here for our customers and we wanna let them know that yes, the window is closing for them to open a new claim based on the Ida storm. They have a year from that date and we are getting to that window. But as long as your claim is open during that window, We can help you walk it to the ground. We don't necessarily have to satisfy that claim in a year. It just needs to be filed before that year is up. So there's still help to be had. We're still here for our customers who are able to help. We have an in-house team working with insurance companies, working with you to help. We have our project manager team that can help you identify damage, figure out what your insurance company needs and really just help you. Get your home fixed. That's that's what we're really wanting to do. Let us help you fix your home. So, Michael, Chuck: I've got a question. What about 10 months passed when Ida actually hit something like that? Yes. Okay. So do the insurance companies start? I, I know that you've got a year to make your claim, but do they start pushing back? I mean, do the people need to hustle up and go ahead and get those claims filed and then kind of work 'em to the ground? Like you're talking about, uh, I mean, what what's going on with that? Michael: So what, what we find traditionally is when you have something major like this, we're talking about millions of dollars over the course of the year, that's gonna be spent repairing and rebuilding homes. And the earlier you follow the claim, the better off you are because at the end of the day, these insurance companies. Are a business. They are there, you know, you hear the, you hear the commercials, you know, like a good neighbor, you know, you're in good hands and that that's all great, but these insurance companies are a business and they rely on you paying your premiums, not paying on claims. And it's just the way that the business is set up. So if you look at it that way, it's easy to understand why. The earlier you file, the better off you are because the money is available. They're not worried about, oh, well, you know, we gotta protect ourselves. The end of the year is coming. The earlier you file the better, because the better off you are of getting what you need to settle your home. The longer you wait, the harder it is, then you start getting the questions of, well, what, why did you wait so long to file? You know, maybe you're. Maybe your home has incurred more damage now than it originally did because you haven't gotten it fixed. You hadn't filed a claim or you have filed a claim and you haven't found the right company to help get the things you need to get your home fixed. So definitely in the case of insurance claims, the earlier you file the better. And that's been our experience in the insurance world for the past 10, 11 Chuck: years. Gotcha. Okay. So before we wrap up, do you have any last minute advice other than. Get the right roofer, you know, it may or may not be Louisiana roof crafters. That's what we're hoping. But do do your research read reviews, go to Google and read Google reviews that that's the, one of the biggest things that you can do is to check out a company is read those reviews because. That's gonna tell the tale, obviously, LA roof tractors has got a lot of 'em and that's one of the things that we wanna check out, but also check out the website, check out the videos on the website of how a company is going to repair your roof, put your roof on. And you gotta ask yourself a question, Michael. I mean, if one of the roofing companies down there does not have videos and podcasts explaining how they're gonna do this repair, how they're going to do this installation every single time. If I was a homeowner, I'd be going, why not? Because you know, on your website, it's plain as date. This is how it is gonna be done. So wrap us up with some of those things in mind. Michael: Yeah. And, and Chuck, you hit the nail on the head, you know, you gotta do your research, you have to do your research. And one of the, one of the things that we pride ourselves on at Louisiana roof crafters, besides doing a good job and having the reviews that we have and, and having the, the time in the market that we do is. Educate our homeowners. That is, that is 100%, one, one of our main missions. When we go into somebody's house, we have to educate our customers of exactly what it is they can expect from us. If we're working with insurance companies, what then it can expect from their insurance company and what we expect from the homeowner, we all have to be on the same page of how we can move this project forward together. So we may not be a good fit for all the customers and, and that's fine. That's okay. We're here to help, but you have to do your research. Don't take everything you see especi. In the insurance company at face value, get somebody who is an expert who has the tested method of how to get things going and how to have success like Louisiana roof crafters, and certainly there's other companies, but let us help you to get your home back in order. And I think with our process and how we educate, we're certainly one of the, one of the better options for our customers out there in our community. Chuck: Yeah. It just, you know, good advice. Read reviews. Get on the website, get information, get your questions, answered everybody out there is gonna have questions about what's going on, but whatever you do, don't let that door close on your claim. Uh, that, that would be terrible. All right. That's right. So, uh, a great one, Michael, with it two, I think two months from, uh, the one year date. So definitely a good podcast. Good advice. So appreciate that. And I will see you on the next podcast. Michael: All right, Chuck. Thanks. Thanks.

Reason to Get Your Roof Washed

Reason to Get Your Roof Washed
Michael: Welcome to the roof crafters podcast. My name is Michael Warren. I'm the director of operations at roof crafters. And in this podcast, we talk about everything roofing so we can provide our customers with the best up-to-date information so they can make the best buying decisions for their home. Chuck: Michael, how are you doing? Michael: More than Chuck. I'm great. Thanks for asking. Chuck: Well, I'm glad to be back podcasting and you know, in our pre-talk with our topic today, it couldn't be better for me because you guys just finished my roof and I got me a roof. And, uh, you know, I hated every day pulling into the garage and seeing those streaks down my roof and it absolutely was brand new. So, man, I want you to dive in, I know you guys have been doing this for what? Close to two years now, I guess washing. Michael: Yeah. Yeah. It's it's coming up on it. So Chuck: tell us about the roof, Washington. Tell us what you guys have learned over the past couple of years, because I can tell you about visibly seeing it is it's incredible. I mean, it will absolutely bring a digital look and brief fact to Michael: Navy look. Yeah. It's, it's been an amazing service that we've been able to offer and really, really proud of it. Really happy with the results so far. And, you know, it's just, we knew there was a market for roof wash, you know, honestly, with all the calls people calling in and, you know, the amount of people that we talk to and see on a weekly basis, we knew that there was something to it, but we wanted to make sure that we did it right, using the right stuff, taking care of our people like we always do. So being partnered up with Rufus really has really enabled us to kind of bring people's roofs back to LA. You know, before this, you know, somebody called and said, well, I really just, don't like, I'm a roof look. Well, the only offering we had for them as well, we can replace your roof. But most of the time, you know, customers are really concerned about the way that their roof looks. Uh, and the roof is 10 to 15 years old. Most of the time, it's not quite time to replace your roof. So we've been happy with the results and, you know, Chuck, like you've seen on your roof, it really does. Bring that roof back and it gives you, it gives you that curb appeal and makes you, it gives you that pride of ownership. Every time you pulled in that driveway. Now you're not looking at it going, oh God, what an eyesore now you're pulling in going, man. That looks good. Okay. Let's Chuck: talk about that for just a second, because you know, if you're thinking about renting your house out or selling your house, Or buying a house, you know, request that it be clean. Uh, you know, uh, if any realtors that are listening, you know, it absolutely is going to make a house more sellable because the roof is 30% of the curb pillow house. I mean, I've done some real estate stuff in the past, so I know that to be true. And, uh, it made a, it made a really big difference here. So obviously there's two parts of this. I watched the guys wash it and then I watched them treat it. So talk about that treatment and the way that that lasts, because I'm looking at, you know, everyday I look at my neighbor's house across the street. And of course he didn't get home in time to see Ruth get why I'm sure that he would want his watch because this just streaked up like crazy. So tell us how that works and how long it lasts. Michael: Yeah, sure. So our processes is a two-part process, uh, and we're not just interested with cleaning the roof. You know, we're interested in cleaning and treating in that roof and that's really, that's really the difference here. And what we're able to offer is we first. The first step is always inspection, you know, with this. So we still do our thorough roof inspection because we'll, we want to make sure is before we watch that route, before we put all of that water and the treatment in that process on your roof, we want to make sure that there's nothing that would allow water to penetrate into your home. So plumbing, vents, flashing, shingles, anything, and everything on that roof gets inspected by one of our project managers before we ever get over, give a price. And before we ever come out and. That roof and that's really, really important. And then that next step is going to be, obviously, let's give you that price. Let's talk about the process and let's go ahead and get you scheduled. So firstly, we want to do let's go ahead and let's apply the chemicals on the roof to start that wash process. The process that we have is actually backed by most major manufacturers. If not all, I, I can't remember off the top of my head. All manufacturers by now. I know the major ones, Owens Corning, certainty, GAF, you know, so we have some of those big name companies. Now Chuck: that's the shingle manufacturers. Cause some of these people might not know what these guys do. So you're talking about the actual people that make the shingle, right? Michael: Yeah. So shingle manufacturers, cause one of the biggest questions we get is how safe is this process from our roof? You know? And it's, especially when you're talking about these homes that are. Uh, brand neighborhoods, very, very nice homes, very steep roofs. You know, they're very concerned that that pride of ownership is very real and it should be for anybody regardless of where you live. But our, our system is safe, is safer. Your roof. We're not going to be blasting granules off your roof. You're not going to be seeing track marks with a pressure washer. Wand was hitting your roof. So we're going to clean that roof off. And what we want to do is we want to lift that dirt and debris up and off your roof. So we use a high volume, low pressure. So we're not the system that we use. Doesn't rely on the water, doing the work. The system relies on the chemical. We use on the roof to do the work. So once we applied, it lifts that dirt debris and algae up and off the roof. And then that water, that high volume rents rinses it off the. Next step is going to be to come in and do your treatment. Now here's where the rubber meets the road because our treatment has copper embedded in the solution. Now it's clear. You'll never see it. It doesn't show up. It doesn't change the look or color of your roof. It's going to dry clear, but we apply that a roof aside treatment onto that roof. And that's what protects your roof for two years, guaranteed. If that roof starts to grow more blue-green algae or any kind of dirt and debris or streaking, we're going to come back round a wash that roof and get that root back to the way it should look. So two Chuck: things, my roof was washed this past January. So two years from now in January, I need to be scheduled to get it washed again. And I'll let you elaborate on that. But that chemical is actually was, uh, correct me if I'm wrong, but it was EPA approved. Michael: Correct? Yes. It's not bleach. It is a non-belief solution. It's EPA certified and it's safer people, pets and plants. We're not going to stay in your yard. We're not going to kill your plants or landscaping. There is no toxic fumes or chemicals, so you don't have to leave the house while we're doing this. Chuck: When the guys wrapped up, I couldn't smell anything. There was nothing that looked burn. Cause I've, I've seen before roof watching, which has happened. And then bleach and my gosh, this odor and stuff. So when they're sitting there doing it, I smelled nothing. Yeah. Yeah, it was, it was incredible, man. I mean, wrap us up with, uh, something on that, Michael, but I can tell you from firsthand experience. Michael: Well, we're coming up on spring and that's when everybody starts to get outside and spruce up your house from winter. And if you'd like us to come out and take a look at your roof and give you an estimate of what it costs to wash your roof, please give us a call or visit our website. Um, so we can get that going for you too. Great process. And I'm positive. You will be happy with the result. Yeah. Chuck: And, uh, you know, full disclosure, I worked for, uh, Louisiana rope crafters, so full disclosure there, but I still got my roof claim and you can either take my word for it or not, but just check out the videos of it. It's incredible. So I think it's a great thing. So anyway, we will talk with you again next week, Michael: right? Yes, sir.
