Fiesta Bowl
03/11/2024
Fiesta Bowl
While football season is now officially over, I know I’m super sad too, the power of the Fiesta Bowl is a year round here in the Valley. The first game was in 1971 with FSU vs ASU. It has grown in size bringing in an average attendance of around 70,000. Kristina Chumpol joined the Fiesta team in 2019 and quickly climbed the ranks to her current title of Chief of Staff and VP of Community Investment. Kristina is a local Scottsdale kid who grew up always understanding the importance of giving back. Which is why the Fiesta Bowl was an easy role to walk into. Fiesta Bowl gives back thousands of dollars each year to teachers and a huge economic impact on our community during the week of the big game. Calendar of Events This Saturday, March 16th @ Talking Stick Resort. There’s still tickets left for the 10pm show. We all know him as the whiskey drinking, cigar smoking comic from the Blue Collar Comedy group who has made a name for himself. Parents, this is the event for you. A one-top shop for summer camps, youth sports, City of Scottsdale activities. There will also be guests from Storybook Entertainment and Dino Crew entertainment. Check it out Saturday, March 16 from 9-1pm. There’s really only one thing that makes Spring official, and that’s the crack of a bat, a bag of peanuts and those blue skies above. Spring Training officially starts this week! So no matter who your west coast team is, go out and support them while they’re right here in your backyard. The crack of the bat, peanut shells on the ground and a nice cold drink under the clear blue skies. That only means one thing is town and that’s Spring Training. A time for us to gather with our family and friends to watch the greatest game in America. Watching some of these players try to make it to the next level while watching some of our favorite players up close. Of course here in Scottsdale our home team is none other than the SF Giants. The Greenest Car Show on Grass
01/22/2024
The Greenest Car Show on Grass
Peter Volny was a kid in Australia who had a passion for cars. Skipping college to try his career as a race car driver may not have lasted long, but that passion and love for cars continued to grow. After a lackluster performance in the ad agency world where Peter brags about never winning a single award and never falling for any of his own gimmicks, Peter and his wife moved from frigid Canada to beautiful AZ in 2004. The perfect place for a car collector to live. He and his wife started attending the Cars & Coffee at THE SHOPS, traveling to other car shows around the country when the idea to start his own car collectors show came about, Concurs in the Hill. The 100% volunteered run charity car show started with just 200 cars in 2014 and to over 1,000 last year. Here to talk about the love for car collectors in Scottsdale, Concurs in the Hill and Barett-Jackson is none other than Peter Volny. Calendar of Events Attendance is free for spectators so come on out on Saturday February 3 for the 10th annual Concurs in the Hill from 10-3 in the park around the lake in Fountain Hills. Happening all week. Be sure to get your tickets online to avoid the lines during check in. JOJO Coffeehouse is marking its fifth anniversary on Saturday, January 27 with an all-day breakfast & brunch celebration benefiting Desert Sounds, a local nonprofit providing children access to music and the arts. The Old Town Scottsdale event is open to the public and will include live music, prize giveaways and a Special Winter menu. As we start 2024 and think about our goals, resolutions and the future, one thing that may not be on your mind is planning for your kids future when it comes to your will, estate planning, finances and more. But what if you have a special needs child that needs extra help while you’re their guardian? Have you thought about what could happen when they become of legal age and you don’t have the same rights to help them as you do now. Nicole Kuck is one of those parents, here in Scottsdale. After working as a special education teacher, having her own special news child, she left her job to start Eminent Special Needs Planning, to help other parents like herself prepare for the future.
