He was among the survivors of the tragic 1977 plane crash that killed the bands front man - Ronnie Van Zant and others. In July of 2023 interview with , he talked about how he obtained his first name, his time with Skynyrd and his upcoming album. He wrote the documentary movie , that was released in 2020. was originial member and bassist for the band , who were formed in 1968. He was just 15 years old at the time. He wrote the mega-hit "All Right Now" for the band and also "Every Kinda People" that Robert Palmer recorded in 1978. Andy was also briefly in John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers group. , multi-award winning program director, reached back in CAT's archives to retrieve our interview with Andy from March of 2010, 5-years before his passing, to share insights from his musical career.
